I like how you gave us the breakdown of how much to live there. the apartments are cheap! dang, that's cheap for cook/maid!! your place looks pretty nice. Mmm, the food is making me hungry!! Dang, only $3.50 for all that food!?! Transportation is so affordable too! I've been to Bali back in the year 2000, i think. That's where I fell in love with traveling!!
Bali is in Indonesia. I am Indonesian, I live on the island of Java. my wife and I live on less than $ 200 a month. Yes, we live very simply and we are happy with our life. I'm just giving a picture that you can live here on less than $ 200 a month. Most Indonesians earn around $ 200- $ 400 a month. So surely thousands of $ will make you live luxurious and very comfortably. Indonesians are very very very friendly and kind, They will be happy to help. but everywhere in the world you will always have 1 or 2 bad people. So stay careful.
@ⅰи∂ㄩㄅ360 : not additional, but rather mixed up. Not all Muslims in Java do things that are mixed with Hinduism and Buddhism, only some elderly people are still doing mixed things like that. Now most Muslims in Java mostly do not mix Islamic rules with Hinduism or Buddhism.
Indonesia has 5 main religions. Most of them are Islam, which reaches 83% of the total population, then Christian, Hindu, Buddhist, and Konghuchu. We are good neighbors even though we have different religions and races and cultures. There are so many cultural differences in Indonesia. even within one province, there are several different cultures.

Tourists will often be over charged and even after you barter, you will end up paying more. Some places have a locals Vs tourist prices. I avoid those if I can. Get good at your negotiation skills. It will become a reflex after a few months. I would say that if you are frugal, you could probably live for $400 a month. However I could not go that low as I must admit I like nice food and spoiling myself, after all you're on a working holiday. Beer is cheap, spirits are not so cheap as brands are imported. No need to go to a bar as it is acceptable to drink outside the store on the provided seating. Don't forget to see the rest of Asia as it's so close and easy to get to (pre 2020 health issues) Ps. For the Digital Nomads 50gb of data is around $15 if you buy it in one hit (expires after 30 days). Buy data from the mobile providers app as they often do deals randomly on big bundles. Great, no B.S. video. Love the fact that you get to the point, and your videos are edited to highlight your experience. Also, love the fact that you show the exact apartments that you rented as well as highlights of your experience, from the food you ate (and the cost of it) to the incredible snorkeling, etc. Bali seems VERY enticing for a future ex-pat like me!

Great work Jim. You're a natural for this sort of video. The information is clear and concise, but it's your b-roll of Bali that takes this to the next level. Just beautiful!

I have been going to Bail since the early 70s. Big changes, especially in traffic. It still has great accommodations. Easy place to retire. Great people and a fun place to do business too.
Great job with the break down of costs. Never even thought of Bali as place to stay for a long period of time and the cost of everything you listed makes it uber tempting!
Thank you for this budget guide that's really interesting ! I lived with $700 for 3 weeks and it was pretty comfortable. I'm so in love with Ubud ! Didn't make it to Canggu tho but your accomodation there is sooo beautiful and OMG miss the food so much !!
Thanks for sharing your budget experience. Until a few years ago, Canggu was rice fields far from the popular beaches, but it’s being developed fast and is now the most popular digital nomad location in the world. It’s also clogged with traffic. Its waves attract a strong surf culture to the area. Mix in some hipsters and yogis and you have Canggu. There are many expats both young and old, and a large number of the villas owned by foreigners are located along the narrow roads that navigate between the rice paddies. I hope you get a chance to check it out.
New subscriber here! I love how you give realistic costs, and tell us exactly what you paid, as well as the visa laws. I’d love if you would make similar videos about European destinations!
I have been living in bali for the past three months and this information is pretty accurate. Although it will take some hunting/negotiating skills to find some of the prices you mentioned
Hi ! An old Aussie “ Baliphile “ from “way back” here. Thank you for this vid’. It’s the most comprehensive and useful one I’ve ever watched. Compelling photography too. I’ll be passing it on to everyone I know..... Best of luck and happy travels. Kev.
@kevinmcleod2, Thanks Kev, for watching and taking the time to leave a comment. Please share the video, it will help me to keep making more videos in the future.
This was very very helpful! I love the Asian countries because of the beautiful scenery and architecture but also the wonderful hospitality and cheap cost of living. Bali is at the top of my list of places to live once I retire in 7 years
I lived in Bali several years ago, it was a wonderful experience for the 6 months I lived and work there, I live in Phuket, Thailand. Getting used to Bali vs Thailand was a little difficult being away from my wife and family and especially the food. It took about 2 months to get used to the food and fall in love with it. It actually affected my taste for Thai cooking, I found it tastier and less fried and oily. Most things are pretty reasonable compared to Phuket, which is probably the most expensive part of Thailand to live in. Your description of Bali is pretty accurate, although its been a while since I've been there, prices in the world do go up. The people are friendly as charged, you didn't mention the traffic and congestion, I don't know why. it's just a part of Asian life. the amount of traffic and motorbikes must be 10 times greater than Phuket and slightly more than Bangkok, which is rather incredible given the relative size of the Island. Upon my return to Thailand, the roads and traffic in Phuket seemed far more organized and sane, but this would not stop me from being in Bali again. I like the gritty reality of Indonesian life, without a family in Thailand, it would surely be my next preferred destination to live. Thank you for sharing your video and life at a price in Bali.
Brian Wells, Thanks for taking the time to share your experience. I agree with you. In this video, I was focused primarily on the cost of living. I hope to do a video about the positives and negatives in the future. The traffic is a negative for sure.
Bali is the most expensive place to live in Indonesia. Where I live in Jogjakarta, Java my expenses are around 600$ a month and it does include house rent, food, trips, Etc.
Beautifully done video. Thank you. I've been to Bali, Indonesia a number of times and am contemplating moving there or possibly Thailand as an expat. I love Ubud but also like to have a surf once in awhile so it's difficult to decide. Ubud is so laid back and the culture there is amazing. The small bit of surf footage at Canggu was magical, best I have ever seen there. Wish you would have sat down at the Canggu beach that day and shot about an hours worth of footage. Just subscribed. Can't wait for more of your wonderful videos.
I really love Bali. I'm currently living on Koh Phangan in Thailand but hope to go back to Bali this spring. I enjoyed Canggu a lot for the mix of surfing and Bali lifestyle. I shot a lot of footage there but it has gone missing, otherwise, I would have a video specifically about it. Ubud has gotten inundated with tourism since "Eat, Pray, Love". Up the coast towards Balian is very relaxed and growing. Check out my video of the Balian surf break on a crowded day. Les crowded days, I was in the water. More videos are on their way. Thanks for leaving a comment.
I found that Indonesia and particularly Bali were great places to escape the March, April and May heat of Bangkok and Thailand. Did the first year in Bangkok without leaving except for several visa trips to Penang, Malaysia and vowed never to do that again. Back then I was younger, stronger and more tolerant of the heat. I didn't even have to exercise and stayed fit and thin. Even with piling on all the delicious Thai food and in particular those heavenly deserts. In the hot season my wife and I would walk down to the klong where the Thai ladies made all sorts of deserts and fruits and order khao niaow ma muang. It was so cheap and delicious back then, I think 5 baht for the both of us. We were living the dream with my Coronado condo rented and me teaching English privately from one end of the city to the other. I remember there was a fresh flower shop on the way home from work and I would always stop to by bunches of roses at 6 baht for my wife. "Those were the Days" as the song goes.
This review is very helpful. The most important information is right there in print, audio and visual. An excellent job. I wonder what it takes to live there permanently as opposed to the shorter stays covered here?
Wow this is the best explanation for travel video and Thank You for doing a good job. I’m Indonesian but I never heard how much it cost to live in Bali. So maybe it can be useful for me & my wife someday when we retire.
Thanks for you time to make this beautiful video. I have been to Bali 3 times , last time was this January and I found the prices of every thing has gone up a lot and is getting very busy. Living in Bali it has always been my plan and dream for many years, and as the time goes by and the cost of good living it makes me think. Love Bali and the beautiful villas I will love to buy one, butt as foreigner we are not allowed . Any update in contacs and information it will be very much appreciate. Thanks again
George Lord I’ve been stuck there during corona for 4 months - and I can’t confirm!!! Still friendly people and i comfortably lived at about 500€ a month
I decided to live and retire in Bali and have a nice 3 bedroom house rental in Singaraja, Nth Bali, which is about a 20 min drive from the busy tourist village of Lovina. I pay local prices, the house rental is only 12 million rupiah per year (about $800 U.S.)
I would love to live in Bali if I was able to! I visited Ubud last year and absolutely fell in love with the island and the culture. Some helpful info if I ever decide to move here :)
But dude HOW could you support yourself in paradise??? Whoaaaaa! What the hell with all those pornographic statues?? How cheap are the hookers/ladyboys???
Been many times and hope to go in 2021- also speak the language. You can do better prices than but that's up to you to find eateries. Great food, good beer and beautiful people.
You had me at the opening shot! Secret Bay looked beautiful with the rocks and cliffs and the water. The rice field areas looked beautiful. The cost of living sure is reasonable.

This was a really interesting watch and very well put together! I am planning on staying in Bali for a few months next year, so this was very useful for me. I keep hearing that the Canggu area is the place to be, your property there looked really nice. Looking forward to trying the food there too! Generally it sounds a bit more expensive than Chiang Mai - but you get the beach here haha
I do like Canggu a lot but there are many great places in Bali, especially when you get away from the touristy areas. If you try, you can live there almost as cheap as Chiang Mai. I'll be back there next year. Maybe we can collaborate on a project. I really like your work and subscribed to your channel.

Yes... Bali is such a beautiful, gentle and reasonable cost place for expats that it can only your good Karma which can bring you there.
My love, best wishes and prayers for the friendly, warm and welcoming people of Bali.
anil vashist, Thanks for leaving such a nice comment. I hope you are able to visit again soon.
Your videos are wonderful. The perfect blend of useful information and gorgeous photography.
That Guy, Thank you and thanks for watching.
Dayne Vickers, Thanks for watching. I'm glad you found the video helpful. Bali is a great place. I think you will like it. Make sure to get out of the main tourist areas for the most enjoyment.
i have been to bali my experiance was awesome i went to ubud and more and stayed for 10 days it was awesome
I have been to Bali more than 5 years ago. Loved it, very friendly people and inexpensive. I will return and stay for at least 10 days. Need to see more and enjoy the pleasures Bali has to offer. I live in the USA so it's a long journey with flight connections. The food is good and the massages are cheap.

Great work Jim. You're a natural for this sort of video. The information is clear and concise, but it's your b-roll of Bali that takes this to the next level. Just beautiful!
Thank you. I'm glad you found it informative.
As a half chinese balinese im born here 30 years ago.. My anchestor arive in Bali from Hainan china in 1920 and i still keeping my great great grand father's passport😂
My great great grandfather wants find a new living after leave his village in Hainan with his friends..
He planned to move to Singapore after arive in Bali with his friends.. But he fall in love with Bali so his he decided to live here and open some daily store shop and married with local woman here wich is my great great grand mother.. 😁
By the way..
You can live in Bali with 100 dollars a week renting cheap room with bathroom inside monthly and eat cheap and delicious food and rent a cheap bike to travel.. 😂😂😂😂
Sure believe me.. If you can manage your spend here it would be amazing.. 😁
I have been going to Bail since the early 70s. Big changes, especially in traffic. It still has great accommodations. Easy place to retire. Great people and a fun place to do business too.
This would be a dream come true, I cannot believe how beautiful the nature is.
It's a great place. I hope to move back there in a few months. I hope you have a chance to visit someday.
Beautiful Bali Island, I was there many times and I enjoyed my stay there very much. Someday I'll come again to Bali.
Very simplistic yet outstanding video.
Keep up the great job. Prices, very affordable.
Lots of love from South Africa
The most helpful video i have ever seen for me
Great job with the break down of costs. Never even thought of Bali as place to stay for a long period of time and the cost of everything you listed makes it uber tempting!
Thank you.
I love how you've broken down this info. Makes it seem totally possible and realistic for those of us who have never even had the chance to visit!
Thank you. I'm glad you found it helpful. I hope you get the chance to visit Bali. It's an amazing place.
You can live under 600 usd with a an average life. Mainly, you need to enjoy within YOURSELVES
One of the best trips I've taken so far. Paradise.
It's a beautiful sight. I think I'll be able to exercise by while looking around.
New subscriber here! I love how you give realistic costs, and tell us exactly what you paid, as well as the visa laws.
I’d love if you would make similar videos about European destinations!
Never been there, don't have money but since RUclips recommended it so I'm like , why not atleast watch for future trips maybe
Haha ;-) same here
wow, a very informative video about Bali! this video will truly be helpful when i plan a trip to Bali in the future. thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.
I have been living in bali for the past three months and this information is pretty accurate. Although it will take some hunting/negotiating skills to find some of the prices you mentioned
jonathan Jaffe, Thanks for taking the time to share your experience. The video is a couple of years old now so I may have to update in the future.
This made me miss Bali so much. Crazy how cheap it is over there compares to my home in the U.S.
Alberto, Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment. I'm hoping to move back there this spring. I miss it too.
*Bali, where the Hindu tradition still thrives 😊😊*
Its the only Hindu majority region of Indonasia.
When I see this video, it's really make me think of my country
Bali is at the top of my list of places to live once I retire in 7 years
Nice
@@LivingOverseasTV > that's just the culture in SEAsia. it's ok, just is.
Bali is the most expensive place to live in Indonesia. Where I live in Jogjakarta, Java my expenses are around 600$ a month and it does include house rent, food, trips, Etc.
Simeon P, Thanks for sharing your experience. I hope to visit there in the future.
Its expensive coz you too poor to live in bali haha just kidding man
The highest living cost in Indonesia must be in eastern Indonesia. Maluku and Papua, you named them.
Simeon P I agree.. especially Ubud and changu. Prices are high quality low.
What an INCREDIBLE and informative video. Thank you so much! Well done!!!!
Bali is great but it has changed...I went there in 2013 on a 211 Visa. Stayed 60 days and loved it...
What do you mean it changed?

Cool. Now I want to visit Bali. Thanks
Thanks for watching and leaving a comment!
this was great! i am seriously considering living in Bali for 6 mo a year. this video helped me a lot
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for sharing. If we are in the same area at some time, I would love to interview you about your experiences.
Bali.. my favorite place in the world..
Very much informative video done with Quality & Beautiful !
Thanks a lot....
Straight to the point no-nonsense information. Thank you!
Wow , nature in Indonesia is beautiful . i'm cambodia .
This review is very helpful. The most important information is right there in print, audio and visual. An excellent job. I wonder what it takes to live there permanently as opposed to the shorter stays covered here?
Excellent picture of the island. Thanks.
Paul Miller, Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment. I'm glad you found the video helpful.
Love everything about Bali!
Great channel, maximum info, no crap, just straight to the point.
Damn, I were thinking about Thailand but now Bali looking good. Thank you for get information.
Crazy Life, Both places are great. Why choose. Go to both.
Me too.
Forget Thailand, expensive and unfriendly nowadays.
Bryan Farrall, Thanks for taking the time to share your information. I hope to visit your area when I return to Bali.
It is a wonderful TV.. Thank you for filming our island. You have a great team
Great video! I have been to Bali before, but it's been a while. I appreciate all of the great cost info.

Thanks for the tips!
You had me at the opening shot! Secret Bay looked beautiful with the rocks and cliffs and the water. The rice field areas looked beautiful. The cost of living sure is reasonable.
Bali is truly an amazing place. I hope I get to go back to Indonesia soon. I'm looking forward to exploring more of the islands of Indonesia in the future.
@@LivingOverseasTV try east java u just need 3 hours journey by car or motorcycle from denpasar bali and than take a ferry about 45 minutes to banyuwangi where the stuning ijen crater and and the blue fire is banyuwangi had many good beaches too, mount bromo its about 4hours journey from banyuwangi u can go on many famous waterfall along journey, or go to komodo national park in flores and maybe rajaampat in west papua indonesia
Beautiful footage here and very nicely edited. Bali looks like a wonderful place to live. The snorkelling looks especially awesome! I love your underwater footage by the way. What camera did you use for that?
Thanks Ella. The underwater footage in this video was shot with a Gopro Hero4. I"m using the Hero5 now with much better results and hope to get the Hero7 soon.
thank you for coming to our country, if there is time to return to our country 👍👍

I WENT THIS YEAR FOR THE THIRD TIME AFTER 4 YEARS AND IS BECOMING MORE EXPENSIVE AND VERY TOURISTY AND CROWDED . HI STANDERS OF LIVING IS PRICY IF YOU GO TO A GOOD RESTAURANT O BAR SAME PRICE THAN IN EUROPE . YOU CANT NEVER OWN A PROPERTY LIKE IN EUROPE AND THE PRICE IS GOING UP. I USED TO LOVE THIS PLACE AND WANTED TO LIVE THERE . NOW I SEE THE REALITY , THE VISA PROBLEM AND HEALTH ASSISTANCE ,THE CHAOTIC TRAFFIC AND NOISE . SAME .
DO U TALK LIKE U WRITE. ? Scary
Thank you for posting this video! I especially like the pricing information that you have provided. The cuisine looks absolutely delicious. I try to follow a rule of "visit to verify." You have made a compelling presentation! 🤗

Pjeyalakshmi Pjeyalakshmi, Thanks for watching.
That was really informative. Planning to go there on holiday next year. Great 👍 video.
I lived in Chaing Mai for about 3 monthes and my budget was about $800 a month. I ate out every meal. If it was raining I had pizza hut deliver me a pizza. My electric was less than $14 amonth. water was less than $4. If I stayed I would have found a cheaper apartment. I like that guys balcony. I was between the central mall and the Maya mall and could easily walk to both.
Mike Dickson, Thanks for sharing your information about living in Chiang Mai. I liked living in Chiang Mai and escaping to Bali during the burning season. It's a great combination.
@@LivingOverseasTV You were doing it right. I went to Phuket too. I luv the beaches.
Thank you for such an informative video. It's so beautiful , i would love to live there or Thailand! So i would need to just keep extending my visa in order to live there permantley?
Hi.Where r u from?
Very well made, very professional, no room for any questions.
Living Overseas TV thank you, I really appreciate it! It would be great to collaborate on something, I think I will be getting to Bali around May/June time
I will be heading there or Malaysia around the same time. I'll be checking your videos regularly.
Looks like a nice place to spend some time 👀

Wow! This will be my next place to visit. Thanks
we've been to so many places around the world but never been to Bali... actually never been to Indonesia.. is it similar to my home country, the Philippines?
What the similar...Bali is Hindu island ..but filipina i dont know your culture
For backpacker cost of living in Bali:
Boarding house: USD 80 - 100 per month
Eat 3 Times/day: USD 1 x 3 Times/day. 3 Times/day x 30 days = usd 90 per month. Drink is free
So.. for acomodation and meals in a month is USD 200.
Thanks
Abdu Salim, Thanks for watching and taking the time to share some helpful information.
Best video of living cost ever
Wow, thanks
