Great video, thanks. I think I need to buy one of these. DORSET POLICE - my wife and I recently travelled for 3.5 hours to get to Bournemouth for a long weekend break there ( first ever visit). It was a long Friday drive there all along the south coast in heavy traffic, with numberless roundabouts, occasional roadworks and traffic queues, traffic light junctions, the dual carriageways. Speed limits changing constantly. I was watching my speed very carefully throughout. Having to hold back the car, burn more fuel since driving at uneconomical speeds. Then we finally get within striking distance of Bournemouth and start down the A338 dual carriageway, Lovely clear road, nice sunny day. I notice there is a 50 mph speed limit comes into play, on a wide dual carriageway, plus speed camera signs, and the average speed check. These are always a problem but fair enough if there are road works - BUT THERE ARE NO ROADWORKS - they just make it a 50mph speed limit on this dual carriageway. WHY ? Anyway, I obeyed the speed limit I thought, driving in 4th not 5th gear. AFTER THE WEEKEND away I get a letter from Dorset Police - they say I was recorded as doing 58mph in that 50mph area !!. NOW, do I just accept the ticket ( FPN) pay the fine (£100 I suppose) and accept 3 points on my licence - or do I opt to go to court ? ( I am 73 yrs young, been driving since I was 17 yrs old, and driving a Nissan Note these days). Driving for me has now become a nightmare. I already have 3 points on my license from another speeding offence - doing 37 mph on a dual carriageway where the speed limit suddenly dropped to 30 mph from 40mph on the approach to green traffic light junction. Is this all a plot to make people give up driving all together !!!??? I am never going back to Bournemouth. Really fed up. My Insurance premiums go up for the next 4-5 years- highly punitive. Mamma Mia !! ( Other expletives held back since this is RUclips !!). Any comments appreciated.
I was ''caught speeding'' too recently. (25 in a20 limit), I'm going on a speed awareness course which I think avoids having the points on your licence. However, I still have to pay the fine- and the 'course' costs nearly £100@@steverpcb
" Speed limit suddenly dropped to 30 mph from 40 mph " suddenly dropped ??? well if it reduced to 30mph and you noticed there was a sign l Dont know what your moaning about. You were speeding and you got caught, l suggest next time you SUDDENLY see a speed limit sign you adhere to it
I got caught doing 57mph on that exact stretch of road, at midnight when there were no other cars on the road. Had to pay the fine and do the awareness course.
Don’t be fooled into thinking this device will help you avoid mobile speed detection. It is mainly a GPS based device that will let you know where fixed cameras are. It will also warn you of where there are known mobile camera van sites. In other words it will bleep to tell you that you are approaching a known site. Regardless of the fact there is a mobile device there or not. By the time you have reacted to an officer at the roadside with a mobile/handheld device it will likely be too late. Most of these devices work to around 100-600 yards. This device is a useful tool but is not everything it says it is.
@@b1bo840 Waze will only warn you of a mobile van when another Waze user has declared it... what if you're the first person??? three points... useless.
0:55 the video narrative contradicts the title of the video! If I buy one, it'll be to detect speed cameras, and to help me stay within the limit where there are no cameras. As I get older I find myself much less likely to speed but the system is designed to catch us out.

It's a pity RA don't keep a database of modern vehicles fitted with solar reflective windscreens so you can check if suitable before purchasing and squandering ££s on a piece of junk to clutter the dashboard which can't detect or at the very least slow or keep losing the signal trying to detect a GPS signal without additional external expensive GPS receivers being fitted😡
That's a good question, I can assume it will work but without the over the air update and live data. But I'll check on this for you and get back to you
Kept telling us at the start numerous times he doesn't speed but wanted one of the devices once he could afford one so what's the bloody point of having it if you don't speed anyways.
Radar DETECTORS are still currently legal. YES you can use a radar detector. You can't use a jammer, if caught you'll go to prison. The government want to ban radar detectors, but nothing has actually happened in 20+ years about it.
I dont need to buy one, I have a better method and its free to all, " I dont speed" Speeding is for those that if they hit and KILL someone they obviously didn't care as they made the choice to speed, unfortunately there are many in Prison that made that choice.
Why so salty? you have commented this on a few of my videos. You have the whole of the internet to go and be sensitive. You don't need to bring it here

Dorset are very strict on speed limits, but have a great course that you do in place of 3 points and a fine !

Thanks for highlighting this.
thanks for that, I did suspect that after looking at a few reviews

True- I'm 70 and remember well when it was ''fun'' to drive.

True. But, it's still fun to .. ride .. in the country, especially if you're riding Ninja. Oh by the way, I'm a 54 model..
Great piece of kit, I have the smart motorway and live updates included, wouldn't be without it

It's a good device, but flaud if the sim netwrok drops out or is unavailable anywhere such as in Wales.
Interesting. I've never seen a radar detector with that form factor. I run an Escort Redline 360c in my Vantage.
Thank You I have Just started driving this seems so helpful Thank You! which model did You get? is it on amazon?
My sat nav does the same job.......
Just avoid all motorways and drive at 20mph everywhere. Also, have a dashcam front and rear, for evidence purposes.
Do these detect the new Vectra RS speed cameras?
why is it so hard to find a device like this in the US?
Does it have a speed camera detector (the yellow box camera)?
Overrated! It tells you where all the fixed cameras are and known camera van location, however WILL NOT detect a camera van!
Which model are you using?
Feck subscription costs far to expensive. It’s expensive to purchase but £99 per year for basic naaaa

Do you have to pay the year fee. Will it still work without the yearly fee?

If you don't pay they brick the unit .

Having more awareness of the road only makes you a better driver. Don’t read too much into it.
Are radar detectors legal in uk? (I understand this isn’t one).
No, you can use them
Radar jammers are illegal, can be nicked for obstruction of police.

Everyone should slow down to 10% of the posted limit around the cameras.
Why would you spend so much money on it if you're not speeding?
He's getting paid, not spending.

Why bother with any device, just learn to drive! Take an advanced course if you don't know how to drive to the limits?
