Thank you! I just wanted a clear tutorial on how to make a top down plan for my reno. Will check back here as I advance in my drawings. Hopefully you'll have vids on how we then move from top down floor plan to 3d viewing of our designs.
Hi there, you only want to scroll in and out when I’m top down view. Where you place your cursor will determine which direction you’re scrolling towards. Don’t use orbit or pan or it will change the view. Does this make sense?
I am working on a floor plan of my apartment . I have precise measurements of each room and each wall. However when I insert internal walls the room sizes get affected . stupid question: once I insert internal walls what is the best way to adjust the room size to the original official sizes?
I’m sorry I don’t think I understand what you’re asking. If you are referring to the internal lines that depict your wall you could simply draw those first so that they are the correct measurement.
Hi. I am having an issue entering the exact dimensions of my basement in the bottom right corner once I create a rectangle. Any help you can provide? Thank you!
Hey! I was having the same problem with the free version and it turned out to be an easy user error 🎉 when creating a line or rectangle, for example, click a starting point and type in your measurement - do not click in the box or anything, only press the number keys, and press enter. I haven’t found a way to change the dimensions after something has been created yet though. Hope this helps and best of luck.
Do you mean adding dimensions and text? If so, this can be done with Sketchup Pro and a tool called Layout. Here's the floor plan video for the Pro version with Layout: ruclips.net/video/hZTPutUiLis/видео.html

@@CWebbTutorials thanks for the acknowledgment, I'm glade you took it well. It was only meant as consttuctive criticism. Otherwais, the vid was great, thank you for you time and effort.
It doesn't matter what deminions I type, it reverts back to what the fuck ever on the free version. Not a single video on youtube actually works for me. Nothing fucking works. Shit software
Fantastic tutorial. Easy to understand and the notes about the shortcut keys is really helpful
Hey! Glad to have found this. I'm just getting started for the first time. Can't even find the pan tool lol.

So amazing. Well done. I am a lot smarter right now, and can accomplish exactly what I need to to modify some floorplans
Can I "generate" 3D walls from this 2D drawing?
Yes, use the orbit tool to get a different view and use the push/pull tool to raise the walls.
magnifico ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ !
This is really cool and easy to follow thank you legend🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
This is the best video I have seen to explain how to use Sketch up. Do you have a follow up tutorial from this? I have sketch up pro.....
Here's the Sketchup Pro floor plan tutorial: ruclips.net/video/hZTPutUiLis/видео.html
Thank you so so much for this Video. it's exactly what I was looking for.
You did your offset inside the measured walls? So you lost that space inside the room, no?
Yes, that is how it works.
Simple and straight to the point thanks!
I cant get the dimensions block to allow me to type in the measurements I need, how do I fix this
I responded to you other comment. Hope you got this figured out.
Perfect, thank you.
it doesn't work for me when i want to enter measurements manually for offset tool or tape measure. so frustrated
Hello Sir, I just found your channel and it really helpful. Thank you so much. I would like to know if you do private lessons? 🙏🙏
Is it possible to display measurements on the drawing? Showing wall lengths etc
This is possible in the pro version of Sketchup. Here's the tutorial that will show you how: ruclips.net/video/hZTPutUiLis/видео.html
How do you change the units of measurement to metric on this free version?
there is no middle button in the scene section anymore. Please help me. Thanks
Go to "Scenes" on the menu on the right side of screen. Open up "Standard Views" and select "Plan View (Top)".
Hi! How are you easily navigating from this view? having a hard time panning to different areas without distorting the view everytime.

Hi The video was impressive. Tell me the name of the plugin on the right side of the page. Thank you
Thanks! I didn’t use any plug-ins, this was done with the free version of SketchUp.
@@CWebbTutorials how to get it in the pro version

Big thank you...
how can we move the door? lets say i change my plan so i need to move my doors a bit to the left or right... how to do that?
You could select the lines and use the move tool, or just redraw the door.
Please help me why my offset doesn’t like your offset 6.5
Not sure, I’ve never had problems with it. It would be best to google the problem
Thank you !
I have problem with changing from RASTER to VECTOR in layout. Do you know why? My view is disturbing when switching this option....
Sorry I have not used this feature.
How do you get the rectangle not to close while trying to type in the dimensions😫
Click once to start the rectangle, type the dimensions. If you click twice you’ll close the rectangle. Hope this helps.
why does my rectangle dissapear when I press enter after inserting my measurements?
Are you zoomed out so far that you can’t see it? Hard to know why that’s happening without more info. Hope you figured it out!
Thanks
What about lettering layout? Watched many videos but didnt find anything...

This video was made in the free version. What function is missing for you?
Software name
SketchUp
You can’t miss it.
this takes far longer and even the most basic house planner tools, seems like its not a good tool to use for this practice
Cool, what are you using to do it faster?
My thoughts exactly, whats the better alternative?
It's not free
Yes, there is a free version.

When I release the mouse button sketchup just closes the square and doesn't give me the option to change size anymore, derp
Just click once to start the square (don't hold) and then type dimensions. Hope this helps!
