Love this video and the insight into process your music preferences. You have me intrigued. Old school metal or new? What are you currently listening to? 🤘
hey LJ, good hearing from you my friend...i think they say the music you listened to when you were 18 cements your lifetime's musical tastes, so for me it's old school thrash (Anthrax, old Metallica, Megadeth), along with more recent: Havok, KSE, Soilwork, InFlames... and you?
hahah, love the preferences. I listen to a bit of everything from rock and metal - Disturbed, Halestorm, Black Stone Cherry - to classic and the violins of David Garrett and Lindsey Stirling. The heavy stuff makes me enjoy the quiet music even more. I will have to check out the last four you mentioned.
Please Please we need a video for sketching with IPad pro , what are your thoughts ? , can digital sketching be handy in replacing paper sketch please I NEED VIDEO ABOUT THIS Plz
As an architecture student, I reach times where I feel so stressed and tired of architecture, so I watch your videos to motivate myself and to get back to work. Thank you
I'm an architecture student from Germany and I'm currently struggling to design a triplex apartment. I just want to thank you for giving me the tools that I'll need to structure my thoughts, as this is not talked about enough in Architecture. I often lose ideas trying to put down what I'm thinking. Taking the time to watch your videos definitely helps more than any explanation my professors could give me. Thank you really much!!!!!!!!!

I found out 20 years too late that I enjoy architecture, but great channels like this can still help me learn more when I playfully draw designs for my own entertainment. I found your comment about not starting with a list of room sizes and trying to collage them together absolutely true, and appreciate the different way to approach the floorplan.

For the past 10 years, I've worked with signage and on union job sites. I might not be a professional architect till my late late 30s, but everything in all your videos, and all my own research, and sincere love for society and nature makes me know I'm going the right path for me. I appreciate the knowledge you're sharing man.
I know absolutely zilch about architecture but I am fascinated by the idea that you can sit with a pen and a blank sheet and then it becomes a living space for a human being. That process is so intriguing, detailed and inspiring. Growing ideas to change other people’s lives for a living? I’m envious. I’m a musician by the way (metal - yes, Wagner - no)

Hello, I am a practicing Architect. Your Videos are amazing and inspiring. Sketch is a basic part of overall process for me, love to sketch details during or working drawing phase. My favorite pen is Sign pen followed by micron and first couple of sketches are pencil and mostly not sharp or uneven tip. The idea behind the uneven tip of pencil is that it allow to pay attention to each part of line and sometimes you might wanna play with even and uneven thickness. Thanks again for these wonderful videos.

Cheers.
Love this video. I found the ‘ listening to masterpiece while writing monograph’ idea to be super interesting, as this type of ‘eccentric’ behavior really complements the rational design process shown in the tutorial. Favorite pen: Sakura pigma micron.
Man I needed this. As a second year architecture student just getting into different software programs and learning diagraming and programming this is super helpful!
hello Erick, I've found your channel and it's fascinating, I appreciate that people like you take the time to share their knowledge and experiences; that is wonderful!! I am currently finishing my architectural career and your videos motivate me to continue along this wonderful path as architecture is. You have a new subscriber. Greetings from Mexico!!

My college studio professor recommended this video to our class, and it was more informative than my entire last studio class. Thank you for making these videos so we can learn for free, your hard work is greatly appreciated🙏

Thank you I’m a building design student in Australia and I’m old school freehand kinda person but we learn everything with Autodesk Revit and Lumion and I’m throughly enjoyed and appreciated your video using a solid design process that was simple but highly productive and not at all daunting as I’m the only student in my year that freehands concept through to Revit DA or CC finished drawings or completely by hand.
Finally dared to quit my art history studies to pursue architecture instead, my friends noticed it before I did: I need to create, to see things take form. Thank you for your educational video, can’t wait to draw up my first professional floorplans soon. 🤍 Much love from Germany x

How the hell you have few thumps down?? I am an architect and I can see what a superb and precise job you have done to develop this channel. Amazing job.
Your videos are really helping me get through my creative blocks for my interior design thesis. Makes me feel more excited about whipping out the trace and just continuously drawing. Thank you!
I'm some kid in middle school but, I recently took an interest in interior designing so this really helped me understand the floor plan process better. Thank you! :)
I've been a student for at least two years now in architecture. I still struggle with autocad and materials but I love theory and design, history and learning. But you put everything in such a thoughtful, beautiful, detail-oriented but simple way. Where have you been all my life? Going to be binging your videos forever now. Thank you so much for all your videos! You probably have saved a bit of my sanity (':
I am far from being an architect. Still in my first year and the work and hustle is real great. However when i get in the studio and picm up the pen. Look at my sketchbook. Watch your videos. Put some music on. I can see myself doing what i love. Keep on the great work man and thank you so much!
I love these videos. I've been watching a ton of them today. I am a huge fan of Grand Designs with Kevin Cloud ever since I was, 15 and I am watching this show more and more over and over. Just basking in the amazing architecture, always being really proud of my Grandmother that did a self build in the '60s. As times change this precious family heirloom has to go on the market now and I am certain I will do a self build in a couple of years. For now I just love thinking of ideas I for this, these videos give it a better feel that what I am doing is not all fantasy. I've enjoyed the model making videos a ton and I will start with one soon. Thanks for giving an insight into the world of architecture. Keep doing what you are doing.
This is my last year of high school and i’m about to graduate to go to college for architecture and i just have to say that finding your channel was like finding a gold mine, very helpful
I wanted to tell you that I am loving your channel. I have some social anxiety and your demeanor allows me to enjoy the very valuable info you share. I am an Earthship builder in Arizona, and do design work, but I am trying to step up my game by learning to do quality construction drawings. I am very grateful for your channel. Thank you!
Hi, Jason - Glad to have you along for the ride; I'm so glad you're enjoying the videos. Like you, I'm always learning and always a student. Keep making things out there...! /eric
Have the basics in order to design residences and other building structure. As an architecture student this video gives a basic idea of design and drafting schematic sketches. Thank you.
thanks so much for fantastic content and exposition is great....im an architectural student and u have been an answered prayer for many questions i have been asking....may God bless you richly keep it up
I have been loving your videos! I show them to my students quite often to supplement my lessons. Thanks for putting all the time into them. The production is great and the end product is meaningful.
I don't know what I am doing here, I am not a architect/designer, I can't even draw, but there was always the feeling of fault that I never learnd to draw because of laziness. I'm just intressetest in beautiful architecture and something deep inside me wants to learn something from here, thanks for channel!
Hi! Im not an architecture student, but i still love your videos! I'm actually a GM for tabletop role playing games and i found your channel while i was looking for tips on drawing floorplans and building designs.
Really like the creative sketching process keeping things flexible and adaptable to explore relationships, shapes and sizes whilst being mindful of the site. Getting in the zone before starting by filling the mind full of higher thinking is brilliant and will definitely use. I've got Involved in starting the Superhome Movement (encouraging Kiwis to build better homes) in Wanaka near Queenstown in New Zealand and we recently ran a talk on Concept Design. Referred to your channel in the talk, I find your videos very inspiring, so much so I've taken up the study of Architecture.
As a film student this is awesome, and your advice is also really helpful for me. Most of the things you say are transferable across the creative industry. Glad this video popped up in my recommended.
Hey! Still using your videos to get through my interior design classes and always find that you explain things better than my professors! Also, I'm still using pencils for the sketches and layouts - because I am always erasing things - still working on indecisiveness, and because supplies are extremely expensive (still looking for work over here as well). However, I will to just sketch my plan and gradually make changes as you explained later on when I am finalizing my floor plan. Thanks for sharing!
Another very helpful video. Since watching your videos I've expanded my drawing mediums a lot! I've started to draw without thinking so much with initial sketches and even ordered your sketch books. Keep them coming!
bravissimo.. im an interior design student but your videos, which iv been watching for only a week, makes me feel like i wanna design and make real cool stuffs. obviously i can't change my professional direction, but i will start my architectural learning on youtube, especially from you. thanks a lot. cheers!
You're amazing. Very insightful. Ive met with a builder and he asked me to give him a rough sketch of what I'd like and how I'd view my layout. Basically I'm going to give him sand and he's going to make me a castle. This was very helpful and gave me some confidence. To be clear it was a video chat (Covid19) and we plan to meet. I assume we could have done all this in person if it was an in person first meeting.
I love your videos they are well put together and teach me so much. I would say that 50% of my design work is residential. I would love to see a video on how you discuss design with clients. Thank you once again
Thank you so much. Great videos. from now on i'll be using your videos for better understanding about designing. i sometimes get confused with our professor yet here you are explaining things greatly. great job thank you!
Thank you for all of the videos you have posted! They are really useful for me as an architecture student. Especially when I found out a lot of technics have to be learnt by myself. Sometimes the teachers don't even mention how to learn and practice those technics in class. But finally, it turns out they are really important in the design process. Your videos are really good tutorials for me to make improvements. And they also give me lots of inspiration for architecture and design! Cheers!
I'm a game designer, and I loved the idea of starting with the big shapes, before caring about a grid or dimensions. I can imagine that saving me headaches moving forward when I'm coming up with level designs. Your sketches were no bigger than a post-it note, and I'm sure I would have started larger and gotten lost in the details.
Hello Erik, I really like your channel. This is the first comment I'm writing - most probably not the last one. When I was a student I used only plain pencil and paper. In the upper semesters I went to automatic pencils and tracing paper. I found and explore Pentel and Copic through your video. I have a great deal of work at the office where I'm currently working with a large amount of Pentel Sing Pens and Copic. The dual function and the possibility of refilling the markers is very practical for me. Right now I use a plain pencil, colored pencils, Pentel's (thin and thick pens) and Colics. Unlike most of my colleagues, I prefer to sketch on a thicker paper (best in a sketchbook) and a 40g tracing paper.
I love your videos. They add a certain unique creativity to the process which can be quite rigid and forced. I like using pretty much the same pens you use. I use the fine tip Sharpie earlier than you to keep my work sketch like and uncommitted. This allows me to not feel locked in. I generally bring on the larger tip pens like the Pentel medium or bold when I am trying to develop relationships. I generally don't mix red in the early stages. I try to use other colors like green and blue. I generally get back to red when I am trying to analyze my work and make revisions. Then other colors work their way back in such as green and blue...Thanks again, and take care.//Chuck
I always watch your videos since it's more detailed than what my profs are teaching. Thank you! Btw im in 3rd yr and 4 more yrs I'll get that Ar. Before my name.
I just want you to know, your page is amazing. I downloaded all your videos to my tablet and I sit in my office and watch all day long once I have nothing to do. I am a practicing engineer but I've never been good at architectural drawings or engineering drawings. I was better at soil and geotechnical works.
I really enjoy and get useful and powerful thinking and sketching techniques, Id love to see a video about how you brainstorm an entire project though !
Do you not work in the computer? Watching you in this video takes me back to the more direct way of designing I did decades ago, before I was forced to go to CADD. Hardest thing I ever did in my long life. It took away sense of space and directness of the physical feel of of the planning. For a long time I did kind of like you are doing here and then went to the computer to finalize it. But I forced myself to find a way to do that planning in the computer. It was difficult and uncomfortable, but once I finally got a feel for it, it has saved so much time.
So you said to send you our ideas in the comments below. So, I have a request for your future videos. How did you become an architect? What schools did you attend? Did your start out drawing buildings as a kid in old sketchbooks from your past? Do you have your old drawings? Make a video on how YOU became an architect and what inspired you to draw building plans for a living. Just an idea! Love your videos! ROCK ON DESIGNER!!!!!!
I'm in the earliest stages, making the switch from commercial solar planset design and bringing a wealth of AutoCAD expertise with NO architectural education or experience backing me up. Your videos inspire me and, most importantly, they're fun. Like drafting!
Thoroughly enjoyed your delivery and detailing on how you plan and think everything through before you start your drawing. Just a tip, if you also can indicate in centimetres and millimeters apart from feet and inches while you are presenting, that will help those of us who use the metrics measurement to relate to what you are saying. Again great video.

thank you very much Mr. Reinholdt. as an architcture graduate i was losing my way in the field. but your videos and some other sources of inspiration and incentives are helping me out. keep making this valuable stuff. i am so happy for this connection :)
thank you my friend...this doesn't work without you showing up to watch each week...much respect!
I wish you're one of my professor. Full of wisdom and knowledge when speaking.
I'm an industrial designer. Your videos are very therapeutic. I've always considered going back to school for architecture.... I just might.
im a games development student, these videos are awesome for creating floor plans for interior map development and making those interiors interesting
Thank you!
Hi, Jason -
Glad to have you along for the ride; I'm so glad you're enjoying the videos. Like you, I'm always learning and always a student. Keep making things out there...!
/eric
the best guide for any architectural problem. love your videos.
I'm in my first year , and all your videos are helping me tremendously. Thank you
Have the basics in order to design residences and other building structure. As an architecture student this video gives a basic idea of design and drafting schematic sketches. Thank you.
thanks so much for fantastic content and exposition is great....im an architectural student and u have been an answered prayer for many questions i have been asking....may God bless you richly keep it up
im a architecture interior designer and you are such an inspiring human .thank you for your tips
Referred to your channel in the talk, I find your videos very inspiring, so much so I've taken up the study of Architecture.
appreciate the shout out my friend...cheers...
the best architect youtuber hands down
Thank you. You're such an inspiration. I almost quit
no quitting...just pivoting...!
Thank you!!! I learned this in school but it’s been 4 years since I’ve had to read architectural plans
Hello)
As a film student this is awesome, and your advice is also really helpful for me. Most of the things you say are transferable across the creative industry. Glad this video popped up in my recommended.
INCREIBLE! De forma sencilla y firme, se explica la conceptualización de un proyecto arquitectónico. Muy buen video, saludos desde México!
Just started drawing floor plans for my studies and this video has helped a lot so thank you.
I’ve used this video to make buildings for my DnD campaign! Excellent work and thanks for sharing your knowledge.
U are my favorite channel of RUclips, ur job and ur skills are sample of many hours of work and dedication!!!
Keep them coming!
bravissimo.. im an interior design student but your videos, which iv been watching for only a week, makes me feel like i wanna design and make real cool stuffs. obviously i can't change my professional direction, but i will start my architectural learning on youtube, especially from you. thanks a lot. cheers!
welcome...glad to have you here...your professional career can be almost anything, check this video as proof: ruclips.net/video/nLUU6wcA3qE/видео.html
video checked... though embarrassing but i almost cried. hope one day i could work with you(though i hate metal hahah). keep going!
I assume we could have done all this in person if it was an in person first meeting.
was introduced to copic liner, and it is so nice to draw with
love this video....im just a kid who dreams to be an architect and wants to know earlier on how to do sketching and drafts and it really helps me
I love your videos they are well put together and teach me so much. I would say that 50% of my design work is residential. I would love to see a video on how you discuss design with clients.
Thank you once again
would love to make that happen...it's a tricky one to pull off...
Thank you so much. Great videos. from now on i'll be using your videos for better understanding about designing. i sometimes get confused with our professor yet here you are explaining things greatly. great job thank you!
Hello)
Super smart working process demonstrated here! Love the Werner Herzog inspiration!
thank you my friend...
Then other colors work their way back in such as green and blue...Thanks again, and take care.//Chuck
solid choices. thanks for sharing...
loved the way you work eric. its always a great experience to watch your work through youtube.. Shine on.. you are exceptional.
Top notch video...this video really renews my interest in architecture. Sometimes we get caught on the treadmill and forget why we entered the field.
I really enjoy and get useful and powerful thinking and sketching techniques, Id love to see a video about how you brainstorm an entire project though !
I'm am studying civil engineering i was searching something then i came as cross your video i have to say its really helpful
Virginia Moss sure do, see this video for my process: ruclips.net/video/HEo0NqYputQ/видео.html
