You just made it so much clearer in my mind. I was thinking about turning the barrel back in this big move, but still somehow staying connected and not casting.
It's not a giant move where your yanking it backwards and staying connected. It's a small move where your just turning it back and getting into a good elbow slot and then into lag.
this comment feels like forever ago cause ive improved alot this past month
My son has trouble with steep barrel path to the ball and this video nailed exactly what he is doing. Having the side by side video along with your explanation was priceless. By far the best explanation why barrel path is so important. Thank you so much Anthony.
I think you have identified my issues perfectly. I was really doing the push thing you mention here and in other videos. I think I am ‘arm barring’ my front arm as well. Cant wait to work on it soon!
Concise and clear illustration on how to have a quick and powerful bat swing. Well done with the two videos and instruction.
Thanks!
Great information- inside the ball and short with the bat by the shoulder turn.
I just want to mention that the hands don’t stay back as you turning the barrel they are moving inside the ball so the closer the pitch is of your body the more your hands move forward toward the inside of the ball.
Super video. Thanks
I love this guy
At what age should we really be concentrating on these hitting techniques? I appreciate your videos and they have been helping with my son who is playing 10U. Thank you for the content
early makes easier later. just don't push heavy. ball put between side of shoulder and bat works well makes little easier for the little guys
Really great video.
What are the drills we can do to keep our barrel close to the shoulder like that, Matt?
Hi Matt, I've finally started training/ playing for a baseball team. I'm in my 30s. I just seem to either swing and miss, or if I do make contact I've been told I just kind of flick my wrists. Any tips of how to follow through properly when I swing for the ball?
So the body mechanics is very similar to a boxers uppercut? Also what is the relation to the knob and the ball, is it going straight to it or slicing up?
Have you tried the swing plane trainer?
So, which is better; turning the barrel or hands to the ball?
External rotation of the humerus add length slop and drag to the swing.
Best video
Thats why more n more hitters are starting to look more rotational than linear even big power guys.Im a fan of short n sweet swing
Can you make a video on how to throw as a catcher from the bottom up?
Can you do a swing analysis on bryon buxton thanks
Matt video idea...do a video about the umpire crisis of youth baseball including several recent assaults. How would you get more people involved in umpiring?
I like to have the nob of the Bat face the, very inside of home plate turn my wrists and, that makes my forarms extend out.
What youth drills can actually been done so my son actually feels what the move is suppose to be? One thing to see and know but to feel is critical
I have a few drills online if you search our hitting playlist. Also have all of them in our hitting course
Matt, your swing was compact for the most part as you made it all the way to the bigs..Was your path inconsistent in not being able to stay on the MLB level or was it a matter of patience or just not being given the opportunity to play everyday?
My swing fell apart in 2008 and I could never keep it consistent after that
@@AntonelliBaseball Appreciate your humility. How does a Big Leaguer’s swing fall apart even with a deep knowledge and expertise about the swing. By the way as a former teacher and Coach (Ph.D and Masters in Sport Pedagogy) you do a phenomenal job of breaking down skills and teaching. That’s a whole another level of expertise you possess. Well done! I just wanted to commend you.
@@bobbymoore5564 thanks! And there was no info on my swing. I just swung. I didn’t learn anything about swings until I was basically done playing
For some reason really practicing this makes my right shoulder/delts/triceps hella sore like im just not used to such a narrow range of motion kinda? Or like the phrase "mincing your steps" like when you walk woth a way shorter stride than feels natural too you? This is like the arms equivalent😅 Then again I have long lanky arms and am way better at pitching.
Matt what swing software are you using?
@rick - I think he’s using OnForm from his phone. It has a feature to link two videos side by side.
I'm trying to make my son to get his shoulders and hands up and get the barrel Tipped behind his head for more power. I'm having a tough time
hes having a tough time*
Shohei Ohtani needs to see this video. He currently looks so out of sorts at the plate, he could end up the next Chris Davis. Right now, it looks like he'll strike out 200 + times this season and hit in the low .200's.
Lol
@@jefferylord3068 , he looks so much better at the plate now. He's dramatically improved his swing and plate discipline. He's now the best hitter in MLB.
@@l.rongardner2150, lifelong orioles fan here. Chris Davis towards the end was worse than any human hitter ive ever seen.
So no snap? 😅
If u look at all the guys from the 3k hit club none were big HR hitters they made a career outta singles n doubles
Murry mays Aaron pujols cabrera palmerio Arod all have more than 500 home runs
