I was from out of town, from California, but went to Gilley’s once and what a night. Drank way too many Lone Star Beer longnecks, danced with some of the prettiest girls in Texas and had a great time. It was a night I will never forget!
Someone needs to find this documentary & put the whole thing on RUclips so I can watch it. I’ve been wanting to learn more about the history of this place.
I use to live 5 blocks away 3030 Lafferty Dr. Me and my brother, use to go there EVERY night. 1980-1981. Had alot of good times. I was 21, my brother was 24. Im moving back to Pasadena Texas from Phoenix Arizona, in September 2025. Cant wait.
I feel lucky I was able to go to Gilleys. It was in the daytime since my children were small but they even loved it. Its a shame it burnt as the newer ones just arent the same
I watched this when it first premiered. If you are a real urban cowboy fan then you'll love it. Trying to find it on DVD but I don't think it's on one yet.
I watched Urban Cowboy: The Rise and Fall of Gilley's and I'm curious why Madolyn Smith aka Pam, wasn't brought up once. No interviews with her whatsoever, then or now. She was to Bud, what Wes was to Sissy and Scott Glenn was involved in the documentary.
This is no where to be found to watch now! Put it online to rent everywhere. Yes, PRIME U.S. has it but, they won't let me rent it in Canada. What's up with the restriction?
I don't care what ANYBODY says about who started the fire I know that Sherwood Cryer DID NOT have it done. I was there at the fire and was the one who called the Pasadena Fire Department about Gilley's being on fire and was the one who told Sherwood about it and who I saw there. Gilley's was my 2nd home and I was there before, during and after "Urban Cowboy". And the only reason why Micky Gilley didn't like the story "Urban Cowboy" was because the story was about only about him but it turned out to be about us real people who went to Gilley's
Harpoon_Bakery Sherwood could do anything he wanted to. He was what I call “Old School” something people today just don’t understand, or they don’t want to understand. The man was a legend!

URBAN COWBOY director James Bridges re-teamed with John Travolta in 1984 to film PERFECT,healthier than UC if you know what I mean, but was a box office disappointment.
urban cowboy...contradicion if ever! actually some were office workers . many were hard hat harrys at oil refineries. and some where Cissy ,blue collar girls who had rough lives and almost stereotypes this movie...if this were filmed post hurricane ,it wouldve been a different movie about communities getting things done Texas gulf coast way.

@Matt Beeman WOW, that's for that Matt. Sounds like Cryer was a monster. Who could do that?

Where’s the laser tag and bumper cars?
dane brown
Those are some pretty big rings, how much did he make ? or was he just boasting of wealth, when in actuality , the club bombed?
Stop at 1:41 pause scene. Live.
