You’re building it right over where the fountain and beautiful little park area is! USC keeps having less and less green spaces! In this case to promote being green… How ironic. It’s ok, but a little generic… basically a brick box. Have you seen the design of the buildings Stanford(a rival to us) is constructing? I marvel at the new designs and historic renovations that they announce… USC unfortunately not so much. You seem to be going away from building the new architecture with a sense of historical reverence. My favorite new building is Michelson Hall which is new but has an exterior that appears as if it was embracing the old Romanesque/Spanish colonial revival feel with an interior that moves forward into the future. Here’s hoping for the best, but everything president Folt announces to be built tends to have a bland, unimpressive design that could be placed anywhere in the world, not improving the aesthetics of USC‘s University Park. What about buildings like the Tutor Campus Center, Dauterive Hall, Popovich Hall or the buildings of the School of Cinematic Arts? THESE are what architecturally sets USC apart from other universities. Please make sure the buildings your designs match the high regard that USC is worthy of… These new building announcements make alumni as excited as hearing about a new office tower going up in a Potemkin suburb. I can surely tell you that I will not be donating anymore money to USC used for construction unless I’m absolutely sure of the design of the building that is going to be constructed… no contributions for buildings that could be placed in a strip mall or corner of any street in the Valley. USC’s name means more that looking like the average real estate venture. On another note, why tear down one of the few fountains/green spaces when you had land coming available where Marks Hall is being demolished? What’s going there? Please do better SC, I expect more of you because I know what you’re capable of!
