Absolutely amazing man. I like that you showed a bit of the apprehension and difficulty. I actually think the video could use more of that. I really like hearing about the difficulties. Your time lapses make it look so easy, you move and shape with lots of confidence and clearly the product is outstanding. Really looking forward to the next part when you have to add the functional bits.
You are really skilled and create amazing things with metal. Being an old biker I suppose the biggest issue in the end was how to get it to not leak fuel at the seams? Very well done sir!
Nice ! I have an old TR1, XV1000 that is slowly-evolving (retro ) and a project TX650 cafe that is very-slowly getting-there . Tanks are often a dilemma for me over the years (custom-bikes ) I have often-wondered about building one . Dave NZ
This is awesome to watch. Some wicked tools in that shed of yours. I've always wanted to build my own tank. Craig rodsmith is very skilled at this stuff.
Awesome work man! I'm about to totally overhaul a cb550. Don't have a shop like you but will rent a space to do the majority of the frame work. Your videos really inspired me to start doing it.
Mate, seriously sick. Love the shape, what kind of filler cap are you going to do. For what its worth, I think it has to be kept low to keep those lines, almost concealed. Can't wait to see it come to life.
Hey mate, thank you so much for your feedback and yes I’m trying to find a good filler Cap perhaps something that is pop-up or I’ll do a dimple die recess for it
you asked to tell you what I think.... I think you are one bad mofo!! thats some crazy amount of work and an eye for art that not many have,.. making a tank from scratch is one thing I dont think I would ever attempt. And I love making costume bikes... I would buy 2 tanks and some how make it one.. Hat goes off to you.
Amazing skills man. As a side note, would you consider selling the original tank? Xv750 was never sold in my country so would be a unique look for my build.
Groan! Everytime I inch forwards (seat pan, wiring) towards where you're at, you leap a country mile away. It doesn't help that when I asked the missus for a new machine for the garage, she got me a mower 😢 Brilliant video, thanks.
Haha that mower joke made me laugh, I never try to show off, im just sharing my journey of building and learning (making mistakes) so I can inspire others to have a go :)
good to see you making good content again, could really have made it into more parts and given some instruction along the way, i know its very new to you, but by repeating what youve learned you learn more
That is quite a challenge 😮 Impressive work, the end result looks to be fantastic 🤩I assume it is time consuming? Do you count the hours? Would be fun to hear how many hours you spent on the job - when it's all done.
I never really count the hours as it's my own bike, I film everything to share with you so that takes 3 times longer. Its probably a weeks worth of work as im still learning
Why take the easy path when you can do it your way? 🙂 Just a thought...if one made a big block of wood in the desired shape. Could that be used in a process where the sheetmetal/aluminium is hammered into shape around it? What about making a tank in fibreglass? Very modern way back...come to think of all those with leaking tanks! Well, have to go. Time for a day in the saddle with the mates! Cheers!
Thank you so much mate yes it’s not the only way to make a tank but doing the timber buck and beating Metal over it is not as easy as it sounds. It can be done but requires probably heat for stretching.
While your skillz are impressive, I've watched where they make these in India and they use press forms, rolling crease folders and welding them together on s skirt welder, (not sure what is is truly called but they weld both halves together and the press seams in a continuous weld. I'm sure your is far stronger with that frame reinforcement though
Thank you mate, The frame im using is only to help keep the shape to be even on both sides, the frame is not part of the construction, I could make a tank like the big factorys do but it would probably get very expensive
Just great! Admire your work! Best regards from a german blacksmith and industrial designer..😊
Man that’s awesome! You’ve really learned a skill that sets you apart from most other bike fabricators.
Thank you so much mate, that is so true and I never thought of it that way 👍😁
Your approach to problems and willing to learn (and made mistakes) is really inspiring. I really enjoy your videos. Keep them coming 👍
Thank you mate I appreciate your kind words
Always good content, great skills and very good music, then add in the video editing... ALWAYS glad to watch your work. Hi from Texas

Thank you so much mate, I try not to add to many mistakes if the video will have to be called bloopers haha 😂

Thanx mate
That is a huge challenge... Awesome!
Excellent job 👏...Perseverance..Not sure i would attempt this as a lot of tooling needed
You make it look to easy. I want this same tank for my future build.

Congratulations looks great your ahead of me on the tank build I'm still on the planning stage with mine

Thank you so much mate
Wow !!!! A lot of hammer time !!
It’s really Kool!!
Hammer time haha 😂 now I’ve got that song in my head
Impressive and using steel!
Amazing start! I can't wait to see how the rest turns out!
Thank you so much mate. Yeah I also can’t wait to get the tank finished, but I’m having so much fun in the process as well
Looks sweet, i reckon be sweet with a filler cap off set to the side with an old high cap
That’s a good idea. I will see how I go

Very nice job Bro. Congratulation!
Awesome work mate, love the way you will try any new skill and make it a success.
Thank you mate, I make a lot of mistakes but I’m not one to give up easily. Everything that doesn’t work as a lesson.
that's crazy good, well done!
Wow amazing but so much work!
How are they made at the factory? Was there a reason you didnt follow the factory sheet siezes and welds?
Looks great!
You did a fantastic job mate
Thank you so much mate
Looks great, keep up the good work.
Thank you so much mate let me know what else you think I should make out of sheet metal 👍
Excelente trabajo, felicitaciones parcero👍👍

That's fantastic, Im so glad you are getting inspiration, that makes me excited for you and i have plenty of videos still to come
Always so impressed with your fabrication skills, Dan! Way to keep learning and pushing yourself 💪💪

What a hard work...
Mega mate what a great skill u gonna polish it
Thank you mate, not to sure how I will finish it yet
Awesome job 👍🏼

@@CafeRacerGarage That's definitely how you come across in all your videos.
Nice work Dan, did you consider making the tunnel higher to allow for electrical goodies under the tank?
Yeah, that was originally the plan, but I think I’m going to install a box and fully weld it up underneath perfect for a battery or other components
good to see you making good content again, could really have made it into more parts and given some instruction along the way, i know its very new to you, but by repeating what youve learned you learn more
Thank you mate and yes you are right, I just need to keep shaping projects
That's looking like a banger of a tank m8 : )
Thank you mate. Definitely took a lot of banging to get it to this point too lol 😂
super stuff as always Dan. ever considered doing this for a living?...presuming you don't already of course.
I already do mate, I love it.
That is quite a challenge 😮 Impressive work, the end result looks to be fantastic 🤩I assume it is time consuming? Do you count the hours? Would be fun to hear how many hours you spent on the job - when it's all done.
I never count the hours, it’s my own bike so time doesn’t matter as I share my journey to help others 👍
@@CafeRacerGarage Yeah, it makes sense, I never count the hours myself either 😊
Impressive!
Thanks mate
Great work! Love fabricating videos.
Im so glad you enjoyed this one as i had a lot of fun putting it together :)
So cool thanks for great video how many hours did that take?
I never really count the hours as it's my own bike, I film everything to share with you so that takes 3 times longer. Its probably a weeks worth of work as im still learning

Not sure why you don't like the KZ tank, it has great lines. Especially the top ones.
I don't hate it. I just want to put my spin to it
Mint
Is there anything you can’t do 😮
I just make plenty of mistakes and don't give up, mistakes are lessons :)
Seems to me you either buy $50 000 worth of machinery to build a tank or use a fraction of that amount to buy a suitable tank.
Nice…..
Brauch ich mir nicht anschauen, kann ich eh nicht 😢
Great work...
