Last Spring, I got it into my head that I needed to sell my land and move into the city... even did some serious house hunting. But the market was too hot and properties were moving quickly and at high cost. And then, out of nowhere at all, I stumbled upon Bealtaine Cottage... and it was like a sign for me to wake up and appreciate the lovely place I had. And so, I have been reinvigorated to stay in place and tend to the land. I’ve planted many trees this Fall and look forward to seeing them grow. Thank you for being there for me!!!!!

I was going through a really difficult time a few months ago. Turning 65, wanting to retire so I could do what I wanted to do with my life, not what I have had to do for the last 40 plus years just to put food on the table. It was wearing on my heart and soul and I was searching for something, but I didn't know what. Your video came up while I was just browsing on You Tube. I felt such peace listening to your voice, marveling what you, as one lone woman have been able to do. I kept coming back each night to listen to your wisdom, share your walks and enjoy Jack and the cats. You have brought peace into my life again, and most of all I have HOPE again. I have purchased all your books and eagerly hope for more. Thank you Colette for showing as women, we hold the strength of the earth in our hands.

I had purchased my little home on 3 acres, looking to retire and live a simpler and more natural life. I typed in off grid living with no solar. Ta Da! There was Colette. My friends and family think it strange that a 60 year old woman alone would want to live the life I do. I just say..."Let me introduce you to Colette and Bealtaine Cottage".

This summer I was feeling a great deal of despair and stress. My trees and plants helped me keep going, and I was learning as much as I could about permaculture (even though it could be rather confusing and seemed to require heavy machinery I'd never manage!). Also watching videos on homesteading, permaculture, and anything garden or fruit-tree related. Well, your video showed up alongside another: 13 years of what permaculture looks like, something along that line? Anyway you were walking down this lovely shady lane, a beautiful natural setting with trees gathered close and crowded along the path, with your lovely dog. And then you mentioned planting a woodland, and I simply had to know more! "You can't do that...can you? Trees have to be nicely spaced out and regimented..." Anyway I've learned a lot and your channel has been a huge inspiration...and even more, a huge comfort in these trying times. As have my trees. I remember thinking your soft voice was so soothing, and your dog was incredibly happy and calm. (I know sheep herding dogs can be challenging, but your Jacky boy seems so well adjusted and happy--never mind that he's occasionally a bit naughty!)

Dear Colette. Ironically I came to Bealtaine through the RUclips group called HumptyDumptyTribe led by Hambone Littletail (Sam Mitchell). I saw an exchange between Hambone and you about how women are treated and more importantly, how the Earth is being treated by humanity. I was curious about Bealtaine and clicked on a "recommended" video to watch. I can't remember which one it was, but I was so entranced and enthralled by your voice, the beauty of Bealtaine and how you proved that Mother Earth wants to grow and take care of us. I was faced with cognitive dissonance because you speak of hope and life and Hambone speaks of the horrible things happening to Mother Earth. I realized both of these ideas could be embraced at the same time. I don't support Hambone's misogyny of course, but I can't help but wonder why I would find Bealtaine through him. Serendipity I suppose. I finished three videos today that are part of a series on intimacy within the natural world. It's a direct reflection of your life with Mother Earth. ruclips.net/video/RhqHbnGdJ8U/видео.html

Think I'd rather have Jack fawning over me than Mr Darcy ; )
I do love this - I've been quietly following Bealtaine Cottage for some years now, (since about 2010/11). I was living in the city back then, and dreaming of a garden in the country, surrounded by animals, and trees. I remember quite clearly the day I found you, I was procrastinating as I had an exam to study for, and was searching for "magical fairytale gardens" and "fairytale cottage gardens", and things of that nature. And suddenly there was Bealtaine Cottage gardens, and I had chills, and fell in love, quite instantly. Oh, and I did end up moving to the country and creating a beautiful garden. You've been my biggest inspiration Colette. I was just too shy to say so for years. A huge thanks to you and your beautiful work.

My son bought this tablet for me, knows I have no need for a computer and I don't watch tv. He knew I was going to retire this year (actually didn't as I promised to stay on till they found a replacement) so he wanted me to sit back and "Take it easy" He provided me with something called plex. Then netflix, Hulu and over a thousand movies.and just to make sure, he said if I didn't find it call him and he will add it. He set me up with a Facebook account, then a twitter account, an email address, showed me how Pintrest works. Now there's a rabbit hole to get lost in. And he showed me RUclips. Right there was Bealtaine Cottage. The rest is history. Especially since I have long forgotten all the passwords to the other stuff. We have a 290 acre derelict farm about 20 miles from where I live. My goal is to spend the rest of my life learning to live with Mother Earth. Oh, and yes I did watch a movie. I finally got to see the Harry Potter series with my granddaughter.

Steve Brown that is a thought, but I don't have a TV. When I move to the farm, I will be off grid. Maybe some solar, but the electric company wants $10,000.00 just to hook up. They also require hooking up a street light. Why I don't know.

I was sitting at my desk one night watching youtube and I had one of those “straw that broke the camels back” moments and in my frustration I kinda dropped my head face forward down onto my desk/keyboard. One of those let me bang my head moments. Many times that day, people kept saying “you can’t” to everything.... I was frustrated, so very frustrated. I can’t tell you how long I sat there with my head on the desk. I had already taken my headphones off, so I wasn’t hearing anything but when I looked up, (somehow I must have pushed some keys on the keyboard that my head had been resting on) a video was playing and there was a dog & a cat... walking down a lane. The video was entitled “when a cat falls in love with a dog” and here I am. I look forward to your videos every day. And despite some health issues holding me back but I was never going to let anyone tell me “I can’t” ever again. It was a true blessing. Xo Summer🌳🍃🍂🍄🍁🌾

Mr. Darcy will wait! ;) Sammy looks so soft, and jacks eyes speak wonders, so sweet. I work with energy--channeling light etc. I found you in a recommended video through someone else I follow I suppose . I did not know anything about permaculture before very recently. I had been asking for inspiration on how I can give back to mother earth, but as a lifestyle. And then I came across you, and your lovely cottage. This is what my goal is, to live on the land, and give back to nature as well. Make a home for more than just myself. Be an inspiration as you are to me.As always, thanks for sharing, also lovely subscribers you have.

I'm working on your letter now, which contains a very serendipitous story about my discovery of your channel, involving a meditation I did on the last lunar eclipse. However, the short version would be that you came up in my RUclips suggestions during a deep time of healing the source of my depression. I don't say it lightly when I say that Bealtaine Cottage helped keep me alive, and helped get me to a better emotional place. I found it when i needed it most.

I kept coming back to a deep feeling of wanting to live in Ireland on the land where my mother was born, long ago, which is still in our family, same county as Bealtaine Cottage as it happens. But the voices of the world kept going round in my head, usually like `You can`t live there on your own`. But that`s just the lie of the world. After coming across Bealtaine Cottage unexpectedly on youtube, through looking at such things as tiny homes/how to grow veg/gardens etc, I was captivated and enthralled. It made me realise what was always precious to me, is possible to follow, and that I can do it. I can be close to nature and, yes, absolutely on my own, because ultimately, I`m not on my own. I`m with mother earth and the wisdom of my ancestors. And so, I can begin.

I had been researching Pagan and Druid customs and celebrations. That is my best guess as to how the algorithms led me to Bealtaine Cottage. Beyond that, and more importantly, I've had this desire for years to buy a piece of land and plant gardens, but have been feeling lately that it is never going to happen. My feeling is that the Universe led my path to your channel as a strong visual reminder that it is possible, even to someone with currently very limited resources. It has renewed my hope that this dream will become a reality. I love your resourcefulness and can-do attitude. You are such an inspiration! Peace, joy, and blessings to you!

I remember looking up permaculture in Ireland, many years ago. Your video came up but it was before there was much planting done, just open fields. For some reason it stayed in my mind, and a couple of years ago I decided to try and find you again, I was astonished by the beauty you have created. I watch you most mornings with my coffee. Such a calmness comes over me for the rest of the day. Thank you for a window into your world.

I found it in a comment on Mossybottom blog. He's a young fellow starting out near to you with a run down cottage, no running water or electricity. The water he has to pump and fetch from a ground well. Currently he lives in a caravan that he has already renovated and gets his energy for that with solar panels. In the spring, he will start in earnest on tackling his cottage. Many have offered help just to be able to live a life of building something with your own hands using age old utilitarian tools and putting in the satisfying sweat equity that reaps bounties in the end. Also, he is in an area with far less noise pollution, and neighbors that are at least one mile away. Many people yearn for that. From his comments I can see that he may have to start a rotation system to stagger the help that has been offered him. A nice problem to have.

In August my sister and a friend and I were doing a 12 week course with a Julia Cameron book called "It's Never too Late to Begin Again." In the second week, my niece put one of your cottage videos on FB. I listened and was hooked, not on permaculture but on the calmness I felt in these troubled times. I started watching as a kind of meditation, then heard things like "feed the bees" and "plant as though my life depended on it." This past year I had put in a butterfly/bee garden so I just started listening to your permaculture ideas. I consider your work the beginning of a new phase in my life restoring the soil in my sand lot. Mother Nature has been my choice of Higher Power for years, but in name only. I'm soaking up books on microbes and permaculture and Goddesses Rising! Synchronicity.

Hi Colette. I hadn't given this any thought, but you know, I wasn't searching for permaculture videos. Perhaps it came up because I was watching videos about Goddess spirituality? Other than that, I've no idea. I just know that Bealtaine Cottage was so compelling, and you felt like a friend right away. I kept returning to visit and learn. I adore Jack and the kitties (really, how could I not), and I have such respect for the way you have nurtured the land. Every time you quote someone calling it 'poor land,' I have to chuckle. You have proven them all wrong. The peaceful environment you have created comes through in each video. The happy birdsong and the contented humming of the bees. Jack's happy smile, and the lovely cats. I relax watching all the beauty you share with us. You may be right, I do feel drawn to this channel. I believe I'm learning valuable things, both academically and spiritually. I've long held the belief that the Goddess calls to her children. Who am I to argue? Bless you, Colette.

I bought a espalier apple tree so I Goggled info about growing espailer trees & permaculture sights popped up. A RUclips video showing your cottage & garden was there. Of course I HAD to watch it as I have a Corner Cottage Bed & Breakfast in a Historic Community near St Louis, Missouri in the US. Now I am hooked on your videos & the idea of permaculture in my tiny 1,500 sq ft yard. I love nature, trees & my heart longs to live in the country. I feel permaculture can give me more of a country feel & is what I have needed for the 25 yrs I have lived here. So your videos have been a blessing.

I stumbled upon Bealtaine Cottage quite by chance, while flicking through youtube, in the hope of finding a haven to rest, somewhere gentle, kind, inspiring and spiritual
My soul was in starvation and I was hungry to find substance and up popped a video of a beautiful cottage in Ireland, where lived a lovely, kind, knowledgable woman, with her beloved pets, in a truly magical place, which instantly became the garden of my heart - my soul sanctury which I visit daily, and over the past few months, I've been watching the older videos, to gather more history & knowledge about the years previous, and it's roots - this cottage and land fills my heart, spirit and soul, each & every single day.....it heals me, it soothes me, and it offers a glimpse of what can be done for Mother Earth, when committment, love and light are in abundance xxx

Because I view garden videos on RUclips, the algorithms kept showing your 13 years of permaculture in Ireland as a selection I might enjoy. At the time (around June 2016) I simply wasn't interested in permaculture, but after I saw your video offered for about the 10th time, I watched it and fell absolutely in love with you, your beautiful land, home and furry housemates, and knew I wanted to take up the banner for permaculture. Since then I have become a vegan, retired, and begun applying permaculture principles to my stark New Mexico region. Wish me luck and blessings. Thank you!

I was not searching for permaculture videos either. I loved your style, no editing, pointing the camera at your beautiful garden, the sound of your voice and your sense of humour and rants! My father was from Suffolk so I think the pull to the green open space is in my blood. I love your videos of Bealtaine cottage they do bring such calm , peace and a feeling of another time and place. Off subject...somewhere in your vids recently, you mentioned acid reflux. I was having a lot of that too and ran across a very nice doctor who says that when we get into our 50's, 60's (me), etc., our stomachs don't produce enough acid...sounds strange to have acid reflux yet have diminished acid production which is required somehow by our stomach...anyway he recommended apple cider vinegar and guess what!? It worked immediately. Hope that this helps you and others. 😊

Bealtaine Cottage found me about a week or so ago...your voice captivated me...the land was a treasure trove to me...and I fell in love with everything there...what you did with the land...and on and on and on. I live in an apartment in Michigan. Not your three acres and a cottage, but I realized that the inside of my apartment is decorated much the same as the interior of Bealtaine Cottage! So I felt a syncronicity with you and what you do. I am ten years older than you and don't have quite your energy...but I love going on your walks with you and feel Mother Earth through your descriptions of the trees and plants. I watch one episode after another...in no particular order. Blessings to you for the joy you bring in all you do.

How strange you should ask this question Colette as I was only just thinking “how did I find Bealtaine Cottage?” I began to follow you fairly recently and love your videos. With some of my best friends I simply can’t recall how and where we met and I simply have no idea how I came across Bealtaine. It was surely meant to be and I’m so very glad to have found you. It’s rather like having a soul mate.

I found Bealtaine Cottage at the beginning of the summer, and I remember thinking how lucky it was that I found you because I wasn’t even looking for this type of channel at the time. The more I watched and went for walks with you, the more grateful I felt for finding your channel. Now others are saying this is happened to them too...must be strong energy 🌻🐝🦋

Exactly the way you've just described, Bealtaine Cottage appeared. The name alone attracted me "Bealtaine" which in "The Mists of Avalon" of course were the Bealtaine fires. I'm relatively new to your channel but feel I've been with you from beginning. Your trove of back filming and wealth of knowledge and sharing of your life warms my heart. Thank you for being so open. You have inspired & confirmed many of my desires to continue with my wilderness life here in the Ozark Mountains in Arkansas where wild life is abundant but demands a little bit more protection in the immediate living area for me and my beloved animals. Thank you Coilette you've brightened my life. Peace and Blessings, Candace

When you asked the question where I first found Bealtaine Cottage...my mind was suddenly fractured...part was trying to continue to focus on your voice and the other half was scouring the memory banks trying to remember when I first discovered your site. So I just continued listening as the video continued and my mind kept circling around and around trying to find the correct answer. Then I heard your voice explaining how so many of us did not know how we stumbled across Bealtaine Cottage...it just seemed to appear. I suddenly felt so relieved..my only correct answer was the one you voiced. Finding your additions to the web was like the descriptions in literature about folk that walk through the mists and come out into another land..at times..a fairy world. That is the only adequate way to describe how I feel about visiting your world through your videos. Your videos are always a balm to my day, an inspiration to my creative side and great comfort. I too feel the need to buffer and minimize interaction with disruptive thoughts and a caustic world view. We must become protective of our energies, our thought processes and the Great Mother. Thank you ever so much.

And, I couldn't believe how much west Ireland looks like Vancouver island. So, now I'm watching old and new videos, learning lots.... my husband and I are in a log cabin on 3 acres .....cooincidece? Hi Colette, My story of finding you sounds like many of the others. I wasn't seeking Bealtaine Cottage, hadn't ever heard the term 'permaculture.' Bealtaine Cottage just popped up a couple of weeks ago as a recommended channel. I didn't click on it at first. But it continued to pop up. And I grew curious . . . I have been watching ever since. Thank you for your wonderful channel.

I came across your channel quite by random happenstance, it just showed up one day…
To say I was delighted is an understatement, to see what you have accomplished is just amazing! So as I found it @ random, so I go thru your vids in no particular order & so happy that you have documented your journey w/ so many vids to experience, because it is an experience not just a vid to watch. You capture the magic of the place & bring it to life for me. I feel as tho I’m walking w/ you as you go on your walk abouts w/ Jack in tow :) & wee Sammy Bear purring & content on the sofa. The sheer love shining in Jacks eyes speaks volumes to who you are & I love that. Thank you for sharing this incredible journey with us 💕

I am not sure how your Videos appeared, but I remember I did not search for permaculture or Ireland themes. In this madness of pandamic news I looked for Meditation sounds and other relaxing Videos. I must admit my condition was anxious and sad and than your Video popped up, after that it was like finding a Vision for my next and maybe last 25 years. I told my brother I Start to have a dream , a Vision- through or because of your Videos and I didnt have one for decades. Your Person and your little paradise are giving me hope, hope that it could be possible to find my own little Spot on this earth and care for trees and mother earth, even though I dont have the money for it, but it is possible. Seeing You made me recognize how rude my surrounding is, how far away the people in my City are from mother. How negative the changes are, for people and mother earth. You really brouht a Vision, a dream to me. Thank you and hugs from germany 🌻🌈🌳

Then every day after that it continued to pop up, so i finally got the hint and watched! I'm so glad i did. It might seem strange for most my age (33), but i am a lover of nature, artist and crafter, and a proud gardener! Your home and gardens/beautiful woodland just makes my soul so happy!
