Your story gives me hope for my future. My female priest from Norwegian church in London, SE16. She said it was a higher power that will decide when my time comes. I have 8 grandchildren, another grandchild; a boy, due 01/02/2025. When I pass away this grandchild will have no grandmothers! I admire you so deeply. You are so kind & thoughtful. Thanks for planting your beautiful woodland…

@@yvonneyven8683 My grandmothers have both passed, yet they are still tangibly here with me. Genuinely just today I said hello to both my grandmothers and my one grandfather who passed when I was a toddler but for whom I have a very strong spiritual connection to, just as I do with both my grandmothers whom I knew as an adult. When I see them I see them as energy balls floating out there, usually outside like stars pulled down from the sky. They are still here and still with me. ✨ ⭐️❤️. Oh my gosh! As if on cue as I was typing "star" for that emoji to pop up, honestly the autocorrect put in "Sagar" which was that grandfather's birth last name!!! I'm not making that up!! ! I literally have the chills, happy, wonderful chills! They are absolutely here!!! Wow, this has been a remarkably uplifting and magical day for me - for that (thank you for prompting this message, I just wiped away a tear on my cheek) as well as another realization earlier while in the garden (see my comment on the beautiful Navaho blessing). ❤️❤️🙏🙏

Have you ever heard the American folklore story of Johnny Appleseed (real name: John Chapman)? Johnny was instrumental in sowing apple seeds throughout the American Midwest in the 19th century. I believe some of his trees are still alive and producing apples to this day! Here’s my point, you are a 21st century Irish Johnny Appleseed! I hope your country realizes what a great and generous woman you are! 🌳☘️

Beautiful story, beautiful video. You have inspired me for years now on my own property and Mother Earth has noticed and is helping me. All over the perimeter of my property (I hate calling it "my property" as I am just a caretaker, but there it is), Hawthornes, Hollys and Oaks have popped up and I let them be, and in fact nurture them. Since there are so many and all mostly on the perimeter I feel like Mother Earth is protecting this space both spiritually and physically from the intrusions of my urban/suburban location (a half acre within a larger city limits.) While my woodland still young in comparison (just 5-6 years), as it was inspired by Bealtaine Cottage so is it a sort of "child of Bealtaine" on the other side of the globe. What an honor! ❤️🙏🌲🌾

I have an ancient wood near me I walk it twice a day with my dogs. I usually have carrier bags in my pocket to pick up the litter that gets dumped as the wood is next to a built up area. We also most summers see some trees some of which are over a hundred years being set fire, amazingly most survive, others as they have been weakened come down in the winter storms. It breaks my heart but some how the wood keeps growing year after year she is absolutely beautiful and I apologise to her for what the minority do and thank her for the joy she brings to me and the home she provides for the deer, foxes and other wildlife. You are an inspirational woman Colette although I only have a small garden I have planted smaller trees because of your example 🌳 thank you for for all you do

I throw seeds around and they grow such beauty. 16 oak trees and some other trees grow here. Hard to believe in suburbs. But I keep the front yard very groomed. For my city. What a beautiful blessing. I have not heard it before yet just a short couple hours ago I was out watering as later today we will have a rare 90 degree Sept day and I experienced that blessing. All the plants were so beautiful in the autumn light - in front of me, behind me, below me and above me. The bees were out getting their last pollen. The grasshoppers were out foraging in the warmth. The caterpillars were out eating and preparing to pupate over the winter. The moon was out in the daytime sunny sky and I thought/felt very keenly that the Earth and the moon and the planet and nature are eternal and while our human times/issues seem so dark right now, to Mother Earth they are but a blip, a blot....petty and silly in the great scheme of things, and long after we are each gone she and her creations will endure. She had me tangibly realize that blessing and lo and behold, you provided the words. Thank you. It has been a much needed pick-me-up, as has Colette's video today.

Many years ago I traveled to Vancouver Canada. We took a tram up a mountain where there was a wild animal sanctuary and they took you on a nature walk. I had never been in such a lush nature environment and haven't since. We came to this huge tree that fell and was starting to decay. Someone asked why it wasn't cut up and sold or given for firewood, it was that big. The guide told us that all trees if possible should be left because they become "nurse" trees. It becomes a habitat for small animals, insects, fungi, and eventually nourishes the soil going back to where it came from and if any seed from the tree was in the new soil, it would grow a new tree to take it's place. I never forgot that. I was about 32 at the time and I am now 60, and that one thought changed how I looked at my garden and the forests around me. Hard to explain how alive it all now looked. I new plants were alive, but it became a different lens before my eyes.

I live in Australia and I couldn’t agree more with everything you’ve said. I think I must have Irish or Celtic ancestors or something as I’ve always had a strange affinity for Ireland.
I learnt something very distressing the other day. We’ve known for years we need to stop cutting down our forests. There’s been much about how much of the Amazon has been lost to ranchers and the illegal logging industry that their government turns a blind eye to.
Yet I learnt that our government, in Queensland in Australia is allowing the logging of The Daintree Rainforest (that is I believe world heritage listed) . They say it to clear the land to provide housing, which this country desperately needs due to the very high level of immigration.
They say this as if that justifies their horrific actions and that no one can complain because of our desperate need. There is plenty of land in our country without destroying one of the most unique rainforests in the world! It’s an absolute crime imo.
You have done the most amazing job at Bealtaine Cottage, how wonderful your woodlands are and how cozy is your cottage. A huge congratulations on all the hard work you have and are putting in to help heal the land there! Sending love and hugs to you and Patsy from Australia ❤🇦🇺

Two books you need to read: Finding The Mother Tree by Suzanne Simard and The Oak Papers by James Canton. They are excellent. I haven't heard you mention Poplar trees lots of study about these trees able to absorb so much carbon and they are called Midwood trees. Thank you Birds Way 🐦

I planted quite a few poplar trees in my woodland and they are very tall. It is difficult to name all the trees for there are so many and it is so diverse.

Always a treat to see your Homestead! I especially love your blue house color.🥰❤🥰
Are there remnants of those Irish oak that they're able to tell the age of the tree(s)? Were they massive like the California Redwoods? Is there any Petrified Wood rocks in Ireland?
My dad was passionate about trees and planted many shelterbelts on the farm, winning Conservation awards for doing so. He took such good care of them and it breaks my heart that the new owner has let them go to ruin. I'm a Prairie Gal, so I HAVE to have my wide open views, but it's been my Dream to have a Secret Garden and to have some trees and shelterbelts around our acreage. I have a neighbor lady who has inspired me with her little backyard sanctuary, especially considering our brutal and extreme conditions out here. I'm excited to say that I'm having some good luck with my bushes and perennials growing and attracting birds, butterflies, and bees- one of my main goals. I have dreams of building micro buildings to house my specific interests- like a bathhouse with a jacuzzi overlooking the creek to enjoy a soak in peace and a micro church to sit in peace and a Tea House for tea parties. I'm thinking of making a "Frontier Town" out in our pasture with little houses for each of my hobbies and collections. It's exciting to dream for the future and to look around to see how far you've come, too. A little at a time eventually adds up! Thank you for your inspiring visits!
    🥰❤🥰

    Our beautiful planet.
    Our holy mama Gaia.
The energy from trees is so blessed.
I live near redwoods. Walking in a redwood forest is magical. Their stature. The way the fog and sun settles around them. How they welcome you in to their sanctuary, and you want to be quiet and still and then go on listening to the sound of your footsteps and smelling the bark.
    Thanks for sharing this beauty.

To dwellers in a wood almost every species of tree has its voice as well as its feature. At the passing of the breeze the fir-trees sob and moan no less distinctly than they rock; the holly whistles as it battles with itself; the ash hisses amid its quiver-ings; the beech rustles while its flat boughs rise and fall. And winter, which modifies the note of such trees as shed their leaves, does not destroy its individuality.
    Thomas Hardy
I thought you would love this.

Absolutely amazing. It’s the same here in Scotland our trees were cleared from the land at the same time. Most folk don’t even realise. However what you have done certainly gives hope and optimism for the future. Perhaps it comes down to the individual effort to inspire others to do the same. Much love to you and your trees.

Love this video Colette.. The spirits of the ancient land speak to those who want to listen.. The trees whisper to those who want to hear. 🍂 🍁 ❤

Just so beautiful Collette, isn't it wonderful that your father lives on in your woods. Those wonderful healing trees, I always think of Tree Beard in Lord of the Rings and all those mighty trees coming together to defeat evil. Thank you for sharing your wonderful garden and woods with us ♥

We’ve planted around 70 trees and as many shrubs/ plants (including evergreens) on our newer 2 acres. We moved here 2 yrs ago. We’re in our mid 60’s and my bone joints are giving out. I would love to have more trees but hubs isn’t into it like I am. It’s also important to plant native trees to support the food web, caterpillars & insects (which birds eat) will only host on certain trees. Bees can only digest plant material native to the land they’re on. I need to read more about trees….that was interesting info you gave.

yes please. let's focus on how to create a healthy, peaceful world devoid of destruction. let us tell good and helpful stories for one another. let us share in good news and wise living. let us cultivate kindness and tame anger so that we live as helpful neighbours. the grief is real and our time is now. ~ Deborah
