I’ve been a Glock guy for almost 20 years now but they need to step up to the competition, it would be nice to see a premium ultimate Glock with Mos, compensated, upgraded trigger, theaded barrel, etc. all in one without having to spend another $500-$1000 to keep up with other gun companies. Dude look at the Canik Rival. It comes with damn near everything except a comp and the optics mount is WAY better from a mechanical perspective. Rival costs $630 and the trigger is like a damn computer mouse. It's such a nice pistol and I've got thousands of rounds through mine and it has been as reliable as my Glocks in that time(except for my Glock 19 MOS, which had to go back to Glock because a plate mounting screw sheared off flush with the slide, it took Glock over a month to get it back to me btw).

PSA has specials on compact, and full size dagger frames for 100 dollars for both. Dagger optics ready slides are around 200 on sale, dagger long slide is around 250. That is two guns optics ready for less than the cost of one standard Glock. What is even more Daggers can fire syntec ammo safely, as well as polymer coated ammo.

The 49 and 45 are not labeled gen 5 because this is the first version of them. The gen 5 19 and 17 exist because they have done 5 variations of those models. They do sport all the gen 5 features though due to the time of their creation. If they were made when gen 4 was new I would suspect they still wouldn't say what gen but would have the features of the latest gen.

Ive been waiting for what moght be their next incarnation. Many folks remember the genesis of the Colt CCO. Officer's model frame and a Cmdr slide mated together. Im hoping this leads Glock to a 26 frame and a 19 slide. Maybe many won't like it because it's not a new invention, but I think many newer shooters and carriers will appreciate it. The CCO was cut off because Colt discontinued alot of their stuff at that time because Columbine happened right then.

My understanding the is the dust cover and recoil assembly for the G47 is the same as the 19 vs 49 and 17 being the same recoil assembly length. One advantage of the 49 is you can use the gen 5 threaded barrel for the 17 where the 47 you can’t. Please someone state if anything I said is off.

Now I’m about to be able to buy a handgun and apply for my CCL, the G49 has come at a great time. Best of both worlds for me, the frame size of a 19 so I can hold it comfortably and carry it well, and the extra weight and length of the G17. I definitely will be buying one of these when I’m able to in ~4 months (hopefully also price will come down at my local FFL)

You can save a lot of money by buying a a dagger lower, and the dagger compact X(17 length) slide. Hell throw in a compact slide, and your still under the price of a Glock. Add to that you can shoot non fmj and jacketed ammo. The dagger barrel is button rifled and will shoot lead, syntec, and polymer coated ammo without voiding the warranty or blowing up the barrel. You have the same options with Timberwolf frame also, and their frames have the 1911 grip angle. Glock needs to get their prices in line with most people's wallets or the competition will crush them. Even Ruger is pounding them, we opted for the Max-9 instead of the 43X for my wife at half the price. It has been proven to be an exceptional accurate reliable handgun optics ready. And comes with front night sight out of the box.

Excellent presentation! One thing that gets lost in the shuffle is that concealing barrel/slide length is easier than concealing grip. I find this model interesting and wonder why Glock wasn’t thinking about this a long time ago. Goes back to an old article from the late 80s when a magazine writer cut the grip of a Gen1 17 down to 19 dimensions for the same concealment considerations. I would consider buying one of these. The 19 and the 23 were always easy-to-conceal all-round pistols for me, and I only bought subcompacts because they hid better in ankle holsters (I found that on the hip, not much difference). I have medium size hands so the 19 grip was fine. Now if Glock is actually listening, the flat trigger shoe of the Glock Performance Trigger package should be standard on all Glocks - or at least a smooth trigger shoe which has the trigger safety that actually goes flush when pressed and doesn’t chew up the trigger finger.

Probably because Glock has been concentrating on all the other innovations they’ve been delivering, like high contrast night sights, modular FCUs, optional manual safety, decent triggers, optics mounting that doesn’t require plates and another pair of screws, a SA/DA hammer fired version, and on and on.
They haven’t had time to simply put the longer slide on the compact grip. Geez.

I now have two 10mm weapons. This was six years ago. Even the 19X can accept Gen5 9mm uppers. G17 and G19 also AND G34. They only real difference is now glock is marketing it. I think customers would be much more receptive and appreciative if Glock just started putting quality iron sights on EVERY model from the factory. Maybe make their own proprietary 15 round mag that will fit in a 43X, they've fallen way behind in the micro compact game. Although I'm sure Glock Store and all the other after market companies wouldn't be as receptive, lol. Maybe the Glock 50 could be their very first PCC 🤯 Every other company copied Glock with the striker fired polymer frame platform, and then made it better, or at least give you more bang for your buck with better quality components from the factory. Maybe Glock should start returning the favor. Maybe I should be working in Glock's marketing division. 😂

Or like the G45 doesn't say gen 5 because it wasn't released with prior generations. It was released during the gen 5 era. Like the G43 doesn't say gen 4 because it was released for the first time with gen 4's and it dosen't say gen 5 because they haven't made a gen 5 43. The 43x was released During gen 5 but dosen't say it because it should be understood its already a gen 5. Come on Glen!!

Just one thing. Both the Glock 49 and 45 use Gen 5 Glock 19 recoil systems and locking lugs. Because of this, the Glock 49 slide cannot fit onto Glock 17 frames. Only frames that utilize 19 length recoil systems.
The Long side and long frame configuration you get form mixing the two matches that of the Glock 47.
