MSCHF Super Normal Review - MSCHF is know for making some of the most controversial art, products, websites and sneakers. They have also been sued by nike and sent a cease and desist letter from vans from previous versions of their sneakers, the wavy baby and the satan air max 97. But does MSCHF actually make sneakers or are they jsut a piece of art that cant be worn? MSCHF sent us a pair to cut in half and review. We also decided to compare it to the Nike Air Force 1 because the AF1 were clearly the inspiration for this shoe.

MSCHF's whole idea of their brand is around how far they can push the boundaries. They did an entire drop illegally using a bunch of brand logos to see who would sue them first lol
Ironically by only flipping other ideas they're also pushing no boundaries. How far you can go without getting sued, maybe
@@svoksis I'm sorry but you can't say they're not pushing any boundaries, the wavey babies are somewhat a feat of engineering that they pulled the design off, got it to a functional level, and made and distributed it.
@@walterroux291 Few minutes with the liquify tool really isn't peak design. They would wear out unevenly and might mess your feet up. Goofy IG kicks, not much else
@@svoksis the thing is, making a shoe that is only semi functional is a boundary that Nike or Adidas or Vans can't push, but a smaller design company like them clearly could do. You can say you don't like any of their designs, that I'm totally fine with, but you can't say they aren't pushing boundaries (blood/holy water in the sole, wavey babies) all push boundaries that a larger distributor couldn't do.

I think it would be great for you to cut in half designer shoes, like rick owens, balenciaga, dior, etc, both sneakers and boots.

I would love to see a video comparing legit sneakers and their quality VS Reps. What are the differences? I think it would be entertaining and informative!
this could be cool especially getting like 3 different batches, in different price ranges, to check like budget vs expensive reps vs the real deal. But i suspect a video like that wouldn't be liked very much by youtube :))

Could you cut an AF1 Craft in half? According to Nike they’re essentially just an AF1 but with universally better materials (such as tumbled leather). Kind of like the Chuck 70s vs the standard all stars.

Nike can't sue anyone from making an air force one clone because of the Bapesta and Ari Air force one.
Nike has lost the design patent for the shoe so as Long as you don't put a swoosh on it you are in the clear.

they are some slick people. them sending you this sneaker, which you then publicly dissected, gets them off the hook without question with regards to another potential nike lawsuit. also gets them across to a demographic that contains a fair amount of sneakerheads
I love your videos and would really like to see you do a review on my favourite sneaker, the Adidas Forum 84, the build quality on them is really good for the price when compared to your typical Nike Dunk/AF1/Air Jordan 1's.

A cut in half from the adidas forum 84 would be interesting to watch. They are basketball shoes which originally released in 1984 and even Michael Jordan wore them.

Hand wrapped rigid boxes that aren’t corrugated are so expensive especially if you are doing a small batches. We had a quote from before the corona virus for a similar box that was under $20 but now with inflation and shortages packaging pricing is crazy especially if you are trying to keep production in the US. That being said if someone can get me a better deal hit me up 😉

It blows my mind that prices have skyrocketed like that. A friend in freight forwarding told me recently that their transportation costs had double though, so I believe it.

You should review the MSCHF Super Normal 2s. You can get it at retail and look similar but have a different bottom. I wonder if it’s the same quality leather since its a mass produced pair.
Stupid expensive but rick kiss heels would be so interesting to see a dissection of. They have a stacked leather platform and a plastic sole with a plastic front piece they just seem so interesting

You should cut a pair of bapestas in half, they look just like air forces but are about 3 times the price would be interesting to see the material differences compared to air forces

If the two shoes are the same thickness, but the air force one has a thick layer of plastic while the super normal only has a light pigment, wouldnt that technically mean that the super normal have thicker leather and are more durable for it?

I want to see you cut the new Nike x Tom Sachs general purpose shoe. It has a whole mantra about durability in the box and was supposedly developed over the 10 year collaboration with Tom Sachs and Nike.
Given the price these are more comparable to the Air Force 1 craft which has a softer tumbled leather as well
Nike rarely change the mold shape of the outsole. The newest mold shape is far different from how the original once was. If i were to guess they prolly change at least 5 times in the span of 40 years.

I feel like some people rush to buy MSCHF before a court forces them to stop selling a product. They also do a lot of limited releases, but it becomes even more limited with court injunctions.
I like the Mars Black color better than this white scheme, while I realize that white is more fashionable these days.
Even though it's $45 more than Air Force 1, it seems like a good deal for an unusual design from a famous but still somewhat underground brand. It's unusual that us normal people can afford a piece of pop art, and it seems to also be functional at the same time.
Dunno, man, that leather quality bump seems pretty noteworthy to me, compared to the coating on the AF1.
I’d love to see some Alexander McQueen oversized sneakers cut in half, they claim they’re Italian calf leather but I can’t lie mine are so uncomfortable and after 4 years of wearing still just feel disgustingly stiff
