The ESV Spiral Bible beautiful. I like the wire bound over the plastic bound. I like the hard cover (and the solid color) over the soft flowered cover. I do like the spacing in the lines and between the words on the ESV. I also enjoy the color of the paper on the ESV. Both are beautiful and both will be useful in someone's studies. Thank you for sharing.
I'm 70 and have had an optic nerve stroke, so I believe the second book would be easier on my eyes. Thank you for this video. I didn't even know they had spiral bibles😮
I bought the Spiral Bible last year and was completely bummed out when I got it. The ink is grey, not black. I have really poor eyesight and it's very difficult for me. Something to consider.
I can see how that would be beneficial! However, my understanding is that Crossway holds the copyright for the ESV while HarperCollins (and its imprints) hold the NIV copyright. It COULD work but there would be some legal maneuvering to make it happen.
Both are great options, it just depends on your preference. This was a great review and will really help people decide which to get. The crossway hard bound editions are sold out a lot, it's a bummer but I'm sure they'll restock soon.
Thank you! I wanted to make sure people understood the pros and cons of each version. I didn’t k ow the ESV ones were selling out a lot! Good to know because I bought mine on Amazon.
I love both. Would like to prder the new NLT Spiral Bible. The ESV is more durable, but heavy and bulky to take along. The Spiral Bible is nice and light, but the cover is not going to ladt forever and I doubt the plastic spiral will either.
I'm hoping they come out with NKJV. ESV isn't my favorite, but I like how sturdy it is. NASB is one of the most accurate translations. I bought one, just a less expensive one on amazon but at my age, 69, I just like the one I'm used to. NKJV. Bought one of those, in larger print, and it was super cheap quality and I don't think it will last. Sigh. I read You Version in the app often because I can adjust the print, but taking notes is a pain. Hopefully there will be more coming out
New to your channel. Love the style of your videos. Just a curiosity… I am thinking it would be difficult to use these for seminary because it’d be difficult to jump to other books in the Bible… for example so much of the NT quotes the OT. I don’t know why I am curious about how you will handle it LOL … but I am … will you bring a second full Bible?
Welcome to the channel! That's a great question! I attend online so I don't carry the spiral bound versions with me anywhere. If I was attending in-person classes, then I would definitely only carry one Bible. The other thing I was thinking about was that for the next 8-weeks my classes are all OT based. I'll make a video at the end of the term to let you all know how it went!
My best friend just got her ESV one, and I thought it was the spiral bible, but she actually got the ESV one from Crossway instead, and I totally want one. I've been using just cheap spiral notebooks for my sermon notes. Wish they would make one using the NASB translation.
I personally use a KJV version and attend a Bible Study where they mostly use the ESV. While I like comparing the two, I'm not sure I'd purchase an ESV. If it was gifted to me, I certainly wouldn't object. I'm also not sure about having the Old and New Testament in separate books. That would take some getting used to. Of the two reviewed, I'd pick the ESV Spiral Bible, because of the sturdiness and wire bound vs plastic. The font looks similar, but I would prefer a large print.
That makes so much sense! I feel like having separate books is great for home study, but not too practical for taking it to church. I'm not sure yet so when I start using it, I'll let you know. I could have taken the New Testament one to church today because I knew we would be in Acts, but I took a different Bible today.
@@wendycoop I would definitely choose the ESV. These Bibles would be great for home study to take extensive notes, even adding sermon notes after church. I would have a separate Bible for church.
My current favorite is the ESV. For a long time it was the NIV and then I moved on to the NLT. But since I started seminary, the ESV (which is accepted at my school) has become my favorite. Would I like Spiral Bible more if they had more translations? No because now they do have the NLT. However, comparing it side by side with the ESV that just came out showed me the clear winner for me was the ESV by Crossway. However, I think there are enough people who want a spiral bible that there isn't really a wrong decision here as long as you get in the word.
@@wendycoop Any opinions on the WEB version? I’ve never heard/ seen this and was in between trying something new and the ESV Spiral Bound… Thank you for your opinion and helping me weigh the best option. Much appreciated! I’m not familiar enough with WEB to know if this would be a smart move…
@@DIYQUEENbyRienna I have never used it, but my research shows that it's the modern version of the American Standard Version from 1901. It's in the Public Domain as far as translations go. However, I don't believe it's a very popular translation. That being said, if you want the Spiral Bible, I saw they have the NLT and I would choose that. I still believe the ESV Spiral Bound is the better choice for durability.
It is a great idea! In order to get the whole Bible you have to buy multiple books. Otherwise it would be so big! There are some illustrating Bibles where it’s the whole Bible spiral bound. But I haven’t used one of those.
@@wendycoopfinally made it back to finish this video lol! I was kinda thrown off by the bright colors on the first one and I like the 2nd one it sure looks more sturdy and the colors are so much better! But I think both are wondeful and the spiral bible all I would change is I would put a different cover which can be done easily at a print shop. But to me both are welcomed by me❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
@@normalopez2856 LOL, welcome back! Yes, the bright color was a little off-putting for me once I compared it with the ESV. Now the Spiral Bible people have a few more muted colors, but not on the level as the ESV set.
Love your videos and the info, but the distraction at hand IS your hands flitting about - hands are okay, but the constant moving is incredibly distracting. I know I'm not alone in this thought.
Thank you for loving my videos! I really appreciate that because I’m so passionate about sharing with lovely people like you. And yes, when I’m passionate, my hands move a lot. Sorry it is distracting for you and I appreciate the feedback.
Your statement is "incredibly" rude! And to claim, "I know I’m not alone in this thought," is false. How do you presume to know what others are thinking? Are you a mind reader? Speak for yourself and stop dragging others into your unfounded emotions.

Glad it was helpful!
I'd like the spiral type Bible, but in the nasb or LSB translation. Even the nkjv

Just received the NASB Spiral Bible last week. I think I contacted them about the possibility of them publishing one. I’m do happy.
