    I would guess that any helmet with a closed faceplate despawns the toon's head so the hair vanishes as well. Presumably CIG couldn't be bothered to even just crop the hair outside the helmets that show your toon's face. 10/10 immersion as always.

    CIG: "This is beards Tier 0. In the future we want to be able to grow beards on space helmets. Yes, and some helmets will have this feature and others won't."

    Simply put: when the helmet replaces your head is fine> when your head is visible through the helmet, it doesn't work.
    Perfectly reasonable for a game 12 years in development!

    Yesterday, I downloaded the 3.24 Ptu... Copied my account, loaded in, created my avatar, chose my starting point (Area 18) and went in....
    My first immersive experience of the NEW 3.24 patch was... STUCK IN THE BED... Had to QUIT & RELOG.
    I can't take this game seriously anymore.

    All the helmets that work actually just replace your whole head
    Hence why all the ones that didnt where ones where you could see the head

    For all the talk about 'fidelity' and taking the time to do things right, star citizen is riddled with slapdash shoddy corner cutting. I remember checking out the flight tutorial in 2015 before the PU was even up, noticing how the instructor's armor was clipping in to his arms and thought 'early days, they'll fix that'. Well, they have since removed that flight tutorial yet here we are with full blown beards phasing through helmets.

    i have a feeling they will remove clear visor helmets that let you see the face as that seems to be the problem with beards.
    a solution to a problem just of the same kind as master modes. just giving up and making things worse.

    Guess I won't be getting a beard, because I wear ORC-MkX which shows the face. Looks like all such helmets are going to be screwing up the beards, unless somebody at CIG feels like showing up for work and fixing it. Nah, prolly not.

      @tfishr well it is just cosmetic, the seal is perfect in game in space :)
      It looks silly, but bear helmets look silly too.

    CIG you need to FIRE whatever DEI person you have in charge of your QA team and put in Camural. If you had camural leading a whole team of people you would be in much better shape. Also give him a voice on the gameplay loop team.
    I think CIG is suffering from a major perception problem. I have the impression they do no listen to fans/backers at all. Surely this isn't true. We have heard stories where they nerfed things here or there due to some public outcry. So they do indeed listen, but it seems all quality of life issues are ignored and no GOOD reasons are given. why is item balance still so bad? I think what I would love to see is accountability, but should a company be accountable to fans/backers in the first place? does my $50-$50000 that I spend on this game truly entitle me to any say? I think not, maybe if I had stock in the game it would be different.
    Progress seems slow, maybe that is just the way it is. I would love for the game state to be playable for all the money spent. why something like item balance is still such garbage after all these years seems crazy. its data files, its updatable, there should be 0 excuses about why we are still stuck with normalized stats.
    here is my question at this point, what to players have to aspire to? if I play this game and put the time in then....what is the reward?
    there are no levels, the loot is a bunch of garbage you can buy in a market. what is your mmo character arc?
    warcraft you start a level 1 play, level up get abilities get loot eventually cooperate with other for better loot. I quit wow because its a themepark and after the excitement died of what could be and you only see it for what it is, the dream was over.
    the loop in star citizen is do missions, get money, buy ships and guns? is that it? also buy a building on a planet? fight griefers? is the dream over?
    my dream was that I could join the military and fight back the vanduul. I wanted for my uss enterprise to be constantly pushing on the enemy, helping the casualties of war, helping repairing and getting our ships back in the fight. Pushing into the fight ourselves, crashing on a planet and fixing the ship back up. Finding some ancient artifact that changes the war.
    At this point I don't know if I will live long enough for it to happen. we havent seen a freaking vanduul the entire game. we are still trying to sort out basic things like combat flying and as camural points out, DRIVING. perhaps the dream I bought isn't what was sold. at this point it seems like we built:
    cities that I do not want to walk around in EVER, I hate it.
    bunkers, crash sites, pve missions. litterally the same crap over and over. if you are looking for a grind. this is it.
    space stations are like ai distortions of the same basic thing. I hate to walk around these useless places. If I had to walk all over creation to get stuff like I do in this game. I would be dead by now. The only people that walk everywhere for what they need are survivors living in the wilderness, children have scooters for christ sake. If real life was like star citizen, I would get in my car and drive to heart of downtown houston tx, then I would get on a bus to take me back out to the suburbs where I live. where then I would WALK miles or take a taxi to get to jims meat market, and then walk or take a taxi to get to willys guns and then take a taxi or walk to get to johnys armor shop. IT IS MADNESS. who has time for this bull crap? and god help you if you get pirated or griefed while you are busy doing shopping simulator over and over again.
    the only place I like is my ship. It seems as though its kinda meant for humans, EXCEPT THE STUPID DOORS, I do not feel immersed being forced to open doors. I do not turn off the mechanisms at companies so that I can physically open doors to feel immersed in reality. if I have to touch a door. it means I am in my home where I do not have that technology.
    but in my ship I can not really do anything. I can fly the ship and sleep. I can repair it and refuel it, kinda. and there is nothing to explore or do. its starting to feel like this pool is an inch deep like elite dangerous. at least elite dangerous is feature complete. even if it is an inch deep.
    its like you have spent so much time building a simulation you forgot to make a game. I have nothing I can achieve in your game. what am I supposed to aspire to? The dream I had was awesome, and other people have had similar dreams. why is the product SOOOOOO far away from the dream?
    who is to blame? who is the asshole who said, spend years making cities full of absolutely nothing to do. they sales pitch was that they were so intricate you could spend your whole life just in that city. its a card board cut out. there is not city. they don't even have rooms.
    who is the asshole who said no, they need to take the fucking trains. why the fuck can we not land at the place we want to shop? that person need to be removed from leadership at least.
    who is the asshole who created an entire intricately detailed world with absolutely nothing to do on it. have they never stepped outside before? there are things to do and see. these worlds are mostly featureless meaningless empty terrains. I understand reality, I have been to new mexico and looked left and right and seen a star citizen planet. its is boring and I do not want to be there. has nobody played a game before? take a game like elden ring. when you are put into the open world you literally can look across the country side and see interesting things that are different, and when you go there. there is something to do there. that dark spooky area has a dragon. that shiny big guy riding some creature will fight me. everywhere you turn there is something you could do.
    here if I was to run into a functioning creature by some miracle it might attack me and I might be able to kill it for ABSOLUTELY NO REWARD. my only reward is that I don't have to respawn and take fucking trains again.
    for the love of god, stop wasting time on useless bullcrap and make a fucking game. If I see one more announcement about a plushy or a nerf gun, bobble head or something equally stupid and pointless in this game I might just start screaming and end up in a jail or a hospital. I am kidding, i hope...
    chris you are in charge right? make a fucking game, fire the useless people before you are forced to sell your game to electronic arts, activision, ubisoft or some other equally evil behemoth. at this point maybe they would do a better job. I don't even know anymore. I am losing faith in star citizen, I don't know if I will ever actually play this game again.

    There is a distinction between naturally occurring alpha bugs and CIG bugs. It’s one thing to build something that malfunctions in the course of development, vs what CIG does, which is too constantly market features for their fund raising which are then introduced in a compromised state so that they can keep up with the next one’s pushed by the marketing dept. It is a viscous artificial unnatural, unhealthy cycle of development which explains why SC is worlds worst performing “game”..

    what is the truly interesting notion about this is once again a far more global "thing" - the inability of CIG as a summary organism to learn, anything, to not repeat the very same mistake over and over and over (much like flawed ideas and solutions - "why fail once when you can fail 55 times?")
    This is just a repetition of hairstyle attachements clipping through a different avatar attachment, aka the helmet. Not like has not CIG spent.. years? ...to fix something very much #beendonebefore (also with a completely confused, non-unified all over the place amalgam of mitigations, not a strict global system).
    The moment the repeat the very same attachment process, even on the very same part of the avatar, in causa relation, dependency and subsidiarity to the very same attachment category as before -> the very same basic mistakes happen.
    Does anyone attentive really - in earnest - think other parts of CIG operate any differently? Because any glimpse we get, where beyond amiguity we see just the state of affairs, the way they as a summary organism work, the way they.. "think" (now there is something pushing it), we witness the very same troublesome reality.
    Does not make most of the workforce bad people, or incompetent per se. This is a very top-down problem.

      @TheEtrattner yes we had the irokese hairstyle clip through the top of the helmets 6 years ago already :)
      It is safe to assume the whole company works like that, the main reason why progress is so slow, the reason for reworks of reworks of reworks of reworks, why we have so little in year 12.
      CIG never has any plan, never has any concept, never thinks things through, never thinks in advance.
      Why should Chris care? Money comes in big time anyway.

      @@Camural well.. since this is obviously a cue I shall be the broken record today and once again type what many others have typed so often in so many places on so many plattform in so many contexts - for the sake of the passer-in-glancing, who might not be (fully)aware (or alternately does not have online access under a figurative rockface despite having online access).
      Those among us with any sort of professional experience in BA for the longest have raised an eyebrow about the entire setup as it is culminating now.
      Between the tax-bracket optimization salary splits, the additional salaries for relative and family members, the breakfast-board members and board renumerations, the fringe packages (oh dear the fringe packages) on piggy-bank level (down to those remote hallways and the by now relocated 100k++ designer couches), the real estate structuring and most of all the Dutch Antilles offshore licening IP deals and MOAR (hi Orthwin) - the goal by structure setup is to keep the show going... not to reach any curtain, not the final one, not an intermediate one, not the Prosecco brake one.
      For every month spent drifting means another increment gained through all those mentioned above. Just one more, one more, forever (or until some Calder Group family office member decides to pull the option for group seriosity gradient PR, which is not going to happen, as nothing is to be gained from the total implosion).
      Even that Barrista joke was most likely far more layered.
      Not that it would not be done anywhere in the industry too - but this is this project, this is crowdfunded and not hedgefunded and just because we exist in a vast sea of turds does not make the individual object (and subject) less worthy of critique.
      And those among being attentive do very much not want to see anything to not arise in delivery, it is just progressively difficult to envision a scneario where any form or satisfactory or even just plain pipeline delivery seem possible.
