yeah well it didn't do that good a job at _protecting_ you from the abyss, now did it.
Now try effortlessly front flipping 15 feet in the air with that thing, that gives you a sense of how strong artorias is, and he was using his right hand (artorias is left handed)
Also adding, he's body was pretty much broke for fighting Manus, and he still was able to do all that.
That actually just gives you a sense of how little care for realism and physics was given by the designers... ;P
Which in itself is neither bad nor good since it is a work of fantasy.
Now think about the fact that Artorias himself is about ten feet tall, and the version of the sword you get is only as big as you. The one he uses in his fight with you? Damn close to, if not more, than ten feet long.

But his sword is probably not made of steel, maybe it's some fantasy substance that's really lightweight.

Actually there are a lot of people that can onehand greatswords, like artorias, guts from bezerk, that one goat monster from sword art online, and that is all i can think of. I could be wrong, tho

The firelink greatsword is visibly blunt in-game. It functions more as a strike weapon.

+Audun Fjellanger a show on the history channel. they first had to make a knife using scrap metal, the the final two made a spiked shield. Ilya won
When you realize that Artorias was able to use it with his right hand only ( which is not his fighting arm )
waw he was right handed bro. when you think about it
his shield was broken completely and so was his arm, it'd make alot more sense if his shield was in his left (since that's the arm that took the full blow ) and the blow struck him down breaking his shield and arm. plus when you look at his stances when he fights you was it kinda needs a shield to be complete(in the left that is).

Him being right handed makes more sense. His armour has a big pauldron on the left and none one the right, typically you'd want the extra defense on the side you are blocking with, and more freedom of movement on the arm that swings a weapon.

Well, they finally did it. They made the sword that's been massively requested throughout all of their previous videos. And what did we get at the end? An extremely beautiful blade. They've come a long way since the Buster Sword, and it definitely shows here.

I think he talks about the series in general, how the episodes went from a 10min max format with cnc or hand-cutted steel sheets to a more complex and actual blacksmithing show. Making their own ore, using damascus, engraving, composite blades... episodes as" hattori hanzo katana build" wich are around twice as long show this evolution :p
+TankMunky And i think it shows why they were reluctant to make this for a while. It took a lot of work and a lot of different techniques to get it right.
On the other hand, i´ve rarely seen them struggle so much to even lift a sword, to the point where none of them could swing it anymore. I guess thats why they dont do the Dragonslayer.

@@gargacaloid6601 the soul of sif is still required. Also Sif is a mandatory fight since you also get the ring that let's you Abyss walk.
I'm guessing they don't have the proper stats to wield it yet.

Fun fact, the guy who carried this thing around did so ONE-HANDED. He also carried around a massive shield for the other hand. All that, and he was somehow the most skilled, athletic swordsman to ever live. Artorias was huge, and not only strong, but incredibly dextrous.

It doesn't look like they have the necessary stat requirements to wield the blade. Must be lacking; 24 str, 18, dex, 20 int, 20 faith.
They also didn't use a +10 Broken Straight Sword, or a +10 Hilt, or have a Giant Blacksmith, or even offer any souls.

its not hard really its litterally just a mass of metal only problem would be that its not possibly liftable and there really isnt a proper material for the handle, unless they get crafty and make a way lighter material for the hammer head and a proper metal handle. but then it kinda loses the smough's hammer charm.

Artorias's sword was not forged from the S'ul of Sif, it WAS his sword and Sif was his pet, his dog. the PLAYER can craft a variation of Artorias's sword from the soul of Sif along with his Greatshield. Sif took up the sword of Artorias after he had succumb to the power of the abyss...

I know its confusing because the other one is named "Greatsword of Artorias", while other one is the greatsword of Artorias, which is known in the game as Abyss greatsword.

Step 1= Create the "normal" blade.
Step 2: Smash hit with a roc and bathe it in a bit of acid to damage it.
Step 3: Quench it in blood.
Step 4: Start spinning.

I remember when I first watched this, I thought it was cool but didn't know much about the game. This year I have watched several playthroughs of these games and have gained a deeper appreciation for these Fromsoft game builds. Such an iconic blade and so perfectly recreated.
