I have had a Lulzbot Mini for the last few months and have been very happy with it. No failed prints so far.
Bought this back in November. Still works great!
This review sold me on going with Lulzbot! Thanks!
So just curious, how has the 1.75 mm filament been working out? Any notable change in reliability or print quality?
joel if i watch your videos i can clearly feel your enthusiasum!
do you have to use the the included version of cues or could I use simplify 3d?
Thumbs up for the on-point hair.
+jeevesme HAHAHA YES!
+3D Printing Nerd yeah but cant you not do much with this printer because its so small ?
dragonborn joshuai It's not THAT small, plenty of room for lots of awesome stuff!
3D Printing Nerd Damn It though it was a 100 something . They raise the damn price to a 1000.i know it's probably illegal . But I don't see why I'm not prohibited from owning or receiving firearms . I own some my dad's a cop and owns a gun shop . And I make guns that shoot low pressure rounds out of paper . Do you know and 3d printer that is big enough and in the hundreds . That can print firearms . Making them out of paper takes to much time . And I'm going to keep them in my yard only to shoot . It's going to be low pressure rounds match heads for powder . If you can tell me any 3d printer what I described I'll be happy .I only want a 3d printer for printing weapons . It seems like the only thing fun to print .
And I'm not giving them out to no one either don't worry . I'm not going to prison for anyone
Hey I'm just wondering what your thoughts are on the lulzbot mini enclosure made by TabSynth and if it would have any difference on my prints and if it's worth it for $110. Thanks
Hi, With the PEI bed do you have trouble removing the part? I've tried different PEI sheets on my Robo 3d and the sheets always get ruined. I hope with it part of the bed it doesn't
Joel! Maybe it is because I am paying more attention to these types of things now, but this was wonderfully edited! I love all the hash tags and the cuts to the printer in action. Well done!!!
Whoops forgot a most important part--- High Five!
+Vicky Somma, TGAW 3D Thank you! I had the chance to edit this before midnight, so my brain was working well and I was able to add in some fun things, like the hashtags. I'm SO happy you said something, because I worked really hard to make this video awesome. #RETURNFIVE
So for the amount of filament (say pla) to print that octopus, how much would it cost for the material? Also does it print metal filament by chance?
I have had this printer for a year and a half. I found that if the printer shakes at all, the prints will not come out sharp and clean. I built a solid, stand alone table for it with heavy materials. Once on this new table, any irregularities disappeared. I even have the printer sitting on a slab of marble for more weight. Dampeners under the 4 feet did not work. The solid table did.
So for the amount of filament (say pla) to print that octopus, how much would it cost for the material? Also does it print metal filament by chance?
I love my Taz 5!!! I may get one of these to crank out the small parts. Great review, Joel!
+Nolan Etheridge Thank you, Nolan!
How would it compare to ultimaker or your gmax
I've had a Lulzbot for a few months now. It was my first 3D printer, and it's fantastic. We did have a small problem where the RAMBo board broke, but the support team was quick and friendly. I sent it in, they fixed it, and had it back in less than a week, all free of charge. (Well, except shipping. Oh well.)
One thing you didn't mention that I love is the carrying handle. That's just a great touch, and shows how much thought was put in to this printer.
Is printing with ABS problematic with warpage due to not having an enclosure?
Congratulations on your particularly splendid hair in this video! Thumbs up! 👍
I have also recently bought a LulzBot Mini and I'm extremely happy with the build quality, the fact it's also open source and that it prints incredibly well.
I find the print bed to be ample for my purposes and I wanted a machine that wouldn't dominate the room it's in.
My only negative, which is not the case for the bigger Taz 6, is the fact that you're expected to print tethered to your computer via USB. I have, however, found the perfect solution in a Raspberry Pi and the Octoprint software (which is also open source). I can now not only send files to my LulzBot Mini via WiFi but monitor the printing process from any browser enabled device AND I can install a webcam for remote images of my print jobs if I want! I think I may love my LulzBot Mini!
I have been viewing all your videos for some time and I love it. I do have and ender 3 and I am OK with it for my personal use. I wish to buy a new pro printer and I have Too many options in market. I wish to buy a budget printer for a low volume 3d printing business. Which one should I choose?
I already have some study and my options so far are Cr10s pro or monoprice Maker pro mk1 or TEVO flash or geeetech A20M. Please do let me know. Thanks
I just got a new anet a8. It prints great. Thank, Joel.
How well does it print tpu?
Did you find the noise louder than your other machines? I only have my delta printer to compare it against, but it seems a little loud. I just got my mini setup, and I put a stepper damper on the Y axis motor, and it got rid of 90% of the high pitched noise. Besides that, it's so good!
+Diode Press The noise was a bit loud, but, I never notice it and forgot to mention it because it's in the laundry room and the door is always closed. Though, personally, I love the noise. Is that weird?
I love this review! Thank you!
Can you please give me a list of the best printers under $1500? Is the lulzbot mini #1 for that price range? I'm looking into buying one. :)
Any good to buy now?
Once again another great review of a good printer. Guys are so lucky in the USA that you have available printers at reasonable prices. Cost of shipping & exchange rate kills us in SA to import one. Lulzbot are great 3D Printers. Thanks Joel, appreciate your time. Have great Easter weekend to you and the family.
+Vaughan Lundin Hey Vaughan! Glad I can showcase some cool stuff, and sorry you don't have the same access. Happy Easter to you and yours as well!
How does this print nylon??
Awesome review Joel!!! Your videos are great
+Shad0w3D Thank you so much!
+3D Printing Nerd I own a makergear m2 and I love it and your videos make 3d printing all the more awesome so keep it up. how do you get your prints so prefect? lol
+Shad0w3D Right on for the Makergear m2! how! trial and error and just don't give up.
Base mode or Vace mode?
I should let you know that there is a fairly simple mod to convert your printer into 1.75mm. Is Lulzbot letting you keep it? also, are you able to upload your own pre sliced gcode onto a matter control touch?
+CJ Printing Well, it was printing 1.75mm easily, don't see why a conversion would be needed. I do not get to keep it, just a loaner. Matter Control Touch - um... No.
High praise indeed Joel, but then, looking at the build quality, it deserves it.
Keep up the great work mate.
High Five!
+Spike Kent Thanks, man! #ReturnFive
what are those names at end of video????
This looks awesome I’d love. To own one
I have been going back and forth. Do I get the Taz5 or the Mini. I have never owned a 3D printer but am no stranger to electronic's and such. Now I hear there will be a Taz6? Should I wait? What do you guys think? Thanks
+Kevin Flynn If you want to stick with Lulzbot, just think of what build size you want. If you want big, wait for the Taz6. If you want smaller, the Mini will be just fine :)
Wow this printer really has everything figured out. Nozzle cleaning, auto leveling. So rigid, it feels like it's made to last. This video made me look at my printer with disgust, mainly for all the time I spent leveling the bed and cleaning the nozzle.
Just built my own Kossel; 1.75mm; I think I am going to build a new one with 3mm filiment and duel bowdens. The thicker filament should help because you are feeding it down through a teflon tube before it hits the hot end.
Wonder if luzbot is using FSR..
+Entertainment Account FSR?
You sold me on this printer - on order! With all the experience you have with different printers and materials could you make a movie about your techniques on removing prints that are stuck and How To get them loose and techiques that work best getting to stick with the different materials please
+Kurt DirtClod I'll see what I can do! #highfive
Can it print petg
Is it okay if you also review the davinci xyz jr? My friend wants to get into 3D printing.
+Zmajor Plays Sure, more than happy to review that. Just need to get them to send one to me!
Hey there, have you had any experience with a davinci pro? I am eyeing up printers with a view to buying in the next month or so and keep coming back to the Davinci pro. At $700 it just sounds too good to be true.
+3djooboy I haven't, not yet, though the rumor is I'm suppose to be getting one. We will see!
loving the the new graphics, and your style in general. You are different from other youtubers, and I think you do a great job.
about the mini, does the PEI surface take any damage? and in that case can you change it?
+Reenarco Wow, thank you! Different in what way? As for the PEI surface, it *can* take damage if a piece is removed improperly, or when the build plate is still too hot. The glass is held on by the metal discs on the side, and it's easily replaceable!
+Reenarco You can replace the whole glass (& bed heater) with the PEI. This can be done in a few minutes. You can also peel the PEI off the glass and replace just the PEI (You do need to clean the glass thoroughly before installing the new PEI sheet).
I've used 1.75mm filament in my printer and most times it works fine, but once in a while the smaller and more flexible filament will bend and bind up between the drive gear and the print head. I've found that using a little higher temp on the print head helps to keep this from happening, the filament softens and flows with less back pressure on the filament helping to keep it from folding up. I've since used up my smaller diameter filament and switched to all 3mm. Awesome post, awesome printer, awesome channel. HIGH FIVE!!!
+Troy “Goldweaver68” Gannon Whoa, great tip, thank you! RETURN FIVE!!!
Can i have the rocket print file?
I need to print 1:400 scale airplanes and vehicles for a model airport I am making. Can this 3d printer make small objects like that?
It comes standard with a 0.5mm nozzle, but you could easily find a smaller nozzle to help with smaller things having smaller details #smaller
Ok, thank you
Does that version of the hexagon have the fragile "throat" ?
I just accidentally destroyed mine re-fitting the heater block because it was so fragile!
+MiggyManMike Fragile throat? I'm unsure of that, and this is the first time I've heard of the Hexagon hot ends having this. Have a link where I can read up more?
No link i'm afraid, it's just something I became aware of when taking mine apart, the "throat" between the heater block and the break is quite thin on the original hexagon, just curious if the new one had the same issue, i've actually gota couple of very generic e3d clones on the way but down the line I wouldn't mind getting another hexagon as it worked well until I managed to destroy it :p
Joel, have you ever tried the Robo3D
+Joseph Graf No, not yet! I bet I will someday!
I print on the Taz 5 with 1.75 mm and 3.00 mm filament all the time. Just change the settings in cura (I run 95% extrusion). I like 2.85 over 1.75, its easier to handle and less likely to tangle on the spool. I get great performance either way out of a Taz 5.
That is a very cool printer. Are you going to do a 20k or 25k giveaway/celebration.
+Panoreth 3D Printing I want to, but, some things have to line up first.
Love the nozzle self cleaning and of course the auto leveling. They are ahead of the curve there. :) [Digital High Five]
+Michael Phelps The nozzle cleaning and auto leveling ability is some next level stuff. I love it. [Digital Return Five]
Have you thought of using a Raspberry Pi 3 running Octoprint to control a printer?
+Michael Wuchitech Yes! My folks got an RP2 for me for Christmas, and I just need to get Octoprint on it!
So now you have to return the mini to lulzbot? have them send you a taz 5 next!
+JJiG Yes, it has to go back to it's home :(
Did you have to calibrate the esteps? Our school has that printer...
+우희도 I gave a Mini to a teach in our local elementary school. The e-steps were set from the factory at 833, but I found that it was over-extruding a bit. I recalibrated, and ended up dropping my e-steps setting from 833 to about 820. (A lot of others in their user forums have ended up with similar numbers.)
Part of the problem was that their workflow for doing your own e-steps calibration used a filament feed speed of 100mm/minute. This is too fast for accurate calibration (I believe it creates a lot of back-pressure in the extruder, resulting in missed steps on the extruder motor). At that speed, I was getting 850+ for e-steps settings, which resulted in even more over-extrusion. Slowing to a speed of 40mm/minute for the filament feed speed during e-steps calibration more closely approximates the speed during actual printing, resulting in a more accurate e-steps number.
I also had to bump the z-offset up by 0.1mm. The prints were sticking too hard to the bed, and the kids were having trouble getting them off.
After reading / seeing all the lulzbot mini reviews, I think the only downside (out of the box) is the whole fact you need to have it tethered to a computer. If they let you keep the printer, are you going to add some sort computer-free (at least laptop/desktop free) method of printing?
+John Sanford I have to agree. I'm always a fan of sdcard printing, and I really never got into the workflow of tethered printing. I don't get to keep it - they want it back. Sad, I know. Had I been able to keep this one, I would have picked up a Raspberry Pi and used it to host Octoprint.
I have the Lulzbot Mini myself and having used a Flash Forge Creator Pro in the past I can definitely agree with you that this printer. the Lulzbot Mini is much better. Seeing that you had success with 1.75mm filament I wish I hadn't thrown away what I had for the FFCP.
Great Review, Joel! #HIGHFIVE Dumb question: does 3MM filament come in as many varities as 1.75mm?
Yes. There may just be less because I think 3.0 is less common. However, I don't know, but there isn't too much less filaments.
where can I order one joel
+Paul Cumber a Lulzbot mimi? Http://3d.pn/lulzbotmini
Please tell me what kind of filament you use, like what brand??
+Jake Levy In general? I love stuff from Proto Pasta, Colorfabb, the Matterhackers PRO line, and just recently played with some Taulman Alloy 910 and love the stuff.
+3D Printing Nerd Also what kind of filament do u use(talking about like PLA or ABS or HIPS)
Jake Levy I'm a BIG fan of PLA filaments.
+3D Printing Nerd great, thanks that was very helpful. I am saving up for a lulzbot, cant wait to start printing
Great review Joel! As a Lulzbot mini owner myself I share your pro's and con's. However; I have lately noticed that the automatic cleaning may fool you. Even with fresh new cleaning felt and a hand cleaned nozzle (pre-autocleaning), sometimes a tiny bit of felt gets stuck on the nozzle and hinders the conductive auto-leveling. My solution was to remove the felt-cleaning part and hand-clean the nozzle before each print, just to be sure.
Also; a single Nema damper on the y-axis reduced the noise from ear-bleeding to acceptable.
So for the amount of filament (say pla) to print that octopus, how much would it cost for the material? Also does it print metal filament by chance?
I woke this morning with a notification on my phone for this video and I was hype because I was seriously considering either this printer or a Flashforge Creator Pro, which Joel here has had for a while to replace my "wonderful" (*cringe*) DaVinci 2.0A. I've been looking at reviews for a week and this one finally came up today and I was sold before the video ended. I have about 12 spools of ABS 1.75 mm that I didn't want to get rid of and knowing all I have to do is change the setting is S3D is a huge factor. I can just cut or scale models to account for the bed, and there's nothing that sounds better than an auto-leveling bed. My Mini will be here in less than a week, just in time for spring break (spring break of my senior year of high school, mind you). Who needs things like big family vacations when you can play with your brand new Mini for a whole week? Not this guy!
+PoohStickProductions Ive had both printers and I can honestly say the FFCP is a higher quality print. Its just staggering how good of quality the flashforge creator pro creates.
Im a fan of the taz printers, but if you are after quality, FFCP is amazing.
+In The Lab I think I can sacrifice some quality for some of the features this thing has. And coming from a DaVinci the quality from either printer will be god tier.
+PoohStickProductions you are correct, the ABL is really nice on the lulzbot mini. and the nozzle wipe is nice, to some extend... the replaceable extruders is VERY nice, but they cost a mint :)
im a taz fan too
+PoohStickProductions CONGRATS! Glad I could help you in your quest to get a new printer! HIGH FIVE!
SO CLOSE TO 20,000 SUBS
+llslimjadyll I KNOW!!!
Super cool video! What filament was that? It looks awesome!
+The Murf Hut Which filament? The green stuff at the end?
Yeah!
The Murf Hut It's a colorfabb PLA green!
Wow! It looks super good! #HighFive
+3D Printing Nerd Is it the same as the filament at 3:29?
Coora?
Does this printer work well and reliably with prints with multiple components? My schools printer is rather bad about them so wanna know
We've had one running for the last month and no matter what we have printed it has not failed to date. Most if printed is 7 parts in one go. We print a lot of things without supports that our delta has no hope with. Only problem I've found is you just have to watch the cleaning and leveling process to make sure there is no gunk on the nozzle which insulates is from the auto bed leveling. Once it's passed the bed leveling you are all good. Printable spare parts are a plus too.
+Ladbrotory Thanks for the response with that, what about the filament size, I know he mentions in this vid that it is meant for 3mm, but he was able to use 1.75 with no problem, do you have any experience with trying to use 1.75 with this? Thanks again!
+Andrew Bok You can use 1.75mm right out of the box but you do need to adjust printer settings. I've done a couple which have come out ok but I can foresee reliability issues with it. These' s no difference in cost in filaments but if you have a heap of 1.75mm yes you can use it. By memory Lulzbot also sell a 1.75mm hex extruder which will obviously be better but its probably not worth it. The '3mm' is such a better filament size. We are in the process of converting our delta to 3mm.
+Ladbrotory ok, thanks for the answers! If you couldn't tell I am looking into getting a printer and this seems like a very strong option, so yea, I just had a few things to wonder about, and I do have some printing experience through my school, so yea!
Definitely a good buy. Only thing I would say is if you can afford it got the TAZ6 as everything is basically the same just 4x print volume
Awesome review and great video as always!!! if the Taz5 had auto level i would get it right now... #HighFive
+YAZ #ReturnFive - and same! Though, I heard the TAZ 6 may have it. That's the rumor I think.
love that intro
I just setup an Octopi rig for my mini. It works like a dream.
+Daniel Splawski Yeah? I want to do that - super easy?
Totally. Thomas Sanladerer's instructions on the Octoprint download page are flawless. Also, there's plenty of space in the Mini's power supply case so you can easily wire up a dedicated 5v AC converter. If you used a short USB extension cable to run the Wifi dongle outside of the case, you'd probably have enough room for the Pi as well.
I'm a teacher and new to 3D printing. How well will this printer work with TinkerCad?
+Todd Shoemaker Extremely well. I use the Lulzbot Mini and Tinkercad when I give talks on 3D printing.
Another school in the district has a $2500 Makerbot. Would I be happy potentially getting two Lulzbot minis or one Makerbot. Thanks
+Todd Shoemaker The Lulzbot Mini DO need to run hosted, so, they have to be plugged into a computer that would slice the files. That said, the Mini is an absolutely wonderful printer. Get a hold of Lulzbot and talk to sales - they may have an education discount.
Nice review! But one thing: whats going on with that white stripe in the background? Kinda wobbly :D
+Matze Strawberrymaker That used to be a wire cover backing when we had a tv on that wall. I should just remove it and patch up the wall.
3D Printing Nerd meant that it seems to be compressed and somehow moves in the video when your on point hair is moving
***** Oooh, must be artifacting in the render. Maybe I need to render out at a higher bitrate? More light?
Im actually not quite sure. Could also be because of the compressing of google, but a higher bitrate may solve it.
I copied the autoleveling from the Lutzbot Mini to my diy-H-Bot. I just had to play around with the G-Code Start section to be able to print on my 200mmx200mm buildplatform. The idea using those washer is just genuis :D
+Benonator Right? Pure genius!
Brilliant video. I have a taz 4 with an upgraded 5 hot end and build quality is just as good. Really tough and strong. Only wish the taz had the nozzle cleaning function and self leveler. It would be the perfect machine in my opinion. Loving the vids Joel. And as always "high five"
+blacky300 #ReturnFive and I've heard that from many people. Rumor is the Taz6 will have something like that, right?
+3D Printing Nerd Lets hope so as we can update our machines with the new parts. You need a taz to go along side your gorgeous gmax collection. The 6 looks like a larger mini. nice
Hey Joel, Great review as always!! I couldn't help but notice that the print you did of Nefertiti @3:55 didn't print that well....dude.....what happened to her ears?........any idea what went wrong? A very Happy Easter to you and your family!!
+Handmade Props I didn't do good supports around the ears. Yeah, that's my fault on that one :( Happy Easter to you and yours as well! #highfive
Hi Joel, I thought that might have been the issue. It looks like a fantastic little machine...just wondering if the hot end can be swapped out if you wanted to print using carbon filament? #highfive
So... Don't put this printer on a table with another printer?
Thanks for the video!
That's a MAXI compared to my Fabricator mini ! ! OK, ignoring sizes based on funny names like coffee, this looks like a GREAT printer. Build size = OK, but the Hot end, heated bed and AUTO ADJUST before EVERY BUILD, well you had me a "Auto Adjust". Great review. Will you EVER get a Fabrikator mini (for the REST of us)?
Thanks for sharing...
+R.A. Monigold I really do want to get my hands on a Fabrikator Mini - absolutely! I'm working on it!
Best beginning printer 500 or less?
+John Schneider Duplicator I3
+MrAdamseye Agreed!
6 views 35 likes youtube hasn't gotten any better haha - Joel on a side note I truly have enjoyed watching you from around 4k subscribers - like yourself I'm a father and a 3d printing enthusiast. Albeit I use my Prusa i3 for prototyping in my Electronics projects I've continued to watch your videos because of your down to earth approach. keep up the great work, at some point in the short term future I will add to your patreon that's a promise ^^
+joshua tate Hey Joshua! HIGH FIVE man! Being a dad is great, and the kids sure love 3d printed things. I'm hoping to get them designing soon in Tinkercad. Thanks, as always, for watching my video and supporting my passion!
You can use 1.75mm filament in your Lulzbot.
Just slow your retraction speeds to stop grinding and you can use 1.75mm no issues.
Im not kidding and you will see this on the forums also. :) GL!
+ZachryDoesMinecraft My bad did not watch the rest before I made my comment.
Yes! Lulzbot Mini is a great printer. I wish they has reinforced the USB connector better though. I saw Shelly packed your printer as well :)
+Patrick Ayers Is Shelly the printer packer? If so, Shelly did a fantastic job!
What is this printer worth?
+KAYLEB_HD What is it worth? It's worth the price you pay for it :)
Do you get to keep it?
+Matt Bart No, but, Lulzbot and I have talked, and we have something cool worked out for the future :)
+3D Printing Nerd nice! can't wait to see! Love your channel. keep up the good work.
Joel, i have the Taz 5 and 1.75mm prints just fine. While it does not officially support it, there is a large population of people that use it, and are active on their own user forums.
+Geeksmithing I have used the 1.75 on my taz in the past and its worked fairly well too... I made a mod to my extruder by buying a thin aluminum rod (cant remember exact diameter) at Ace Hardware, and cutting it to length so that it runs from the end of the hobbed bolt all the way in to the melting chamber. This actually allows me to print flexible filament in 1.75mm on the taz 5. Its fairly easy to do and works amazingly well. Not unlike other mods that restrict the ability for the filament to buckle when exiting the hobbed bolt. I made a video about it, but i must have deleted it :)
+Nige well, in joels case he has all 1.75mm filament printers, probably doesnt want to buy 3mm filament simply to do a review. Or like me, i had very expensive copperfil etc that I didnt want to pay for twice.
I absolutely see the want to print in 1.75 on the lulzbot printers.
One of my favorite things about the Lulzbot printers is that they are all open source. You can print your own replacement parts, and make modifications to suit your needs. Many people do print with 1.75mm filament with no modifications to the extruder. However, there are links to several designs on their user forum to make or modify an extruder specifically to handle 1.75 mm filament.
SO you can make it work with 1.75mm filament with no mods, but it will work more reliably with an extruder modified for that filament
I did the exact same thing, except used a piece of 1.75mm nylon bowden tubing with outside diameter of 4mm. I just use some tweezers to pull it out when I want to go back to 3mm.
get the m3d mini it's pretty cheap and I think u will love it
How many 3D printers do you have
too many :)
awesome but really how many?
Master of mice M heh. I've had through my house 21 different printers, though some I have to send back, and some I gave away. I currently have 14 in the house :)
awesome thanks. One more question do you think that the Davinci 2.0 duo is a good printer to get and can you review the Tiko thank you.
Master of mice M DaVinci 2.0 Duo? Not sure, I've never actually played with one, so it's hard to recommend it. As for the Tiko, I'll certainly try to get one!
looks like I gonna work my butt out this summer
"Don't mind the combusting motors, it's meant to do that"
Skip the 1st 1m15s which is all fluff but it's a good video!
Watching this in 2024…thank god we have silent drivers 😂
If only this was a review on the Taz 6, then I could make the pun it is fan TAZtic. ;)
#vibrator!?
No worries Hair is on point Joel. Great video, great review, and as always... #highfive :)
How about the Lulzbot Taz 5?
+ReneFloresVlogs What about it?
+3D Printing Nerd is it as good as this or better?
+ReneFloresVlogs Oh, that I don't know. This is the only Lulzbot Machine I've used.
+3D Printing Nerd alright... I'm just researching on the best 3D printer for when i get really into it and need an upgrade from the dremel. The PLA only really limits me and I would love something that is just the best if you know what i mean
ReneFloresVlogs You have the Dremel? That's a decent printer, and once you put a plated nozzle on that thing, you can run all sorts of PLA exotic materials like carbon fiber and stainless steel. Don't count it out just yet :) The Mini is REALLY cool, partly because of that nozzle cleaning and bed leveling system. I hear the TAZ6 is suppose to have that on it.
You did it! Great video *high five*
+Andrew Thomson I DID DO IT! Thank you, and #ReturnFive
Hey, have you seen my Filament reviews yet? If so what do you think? (ps I am accepting constrictive criticism)
Great video , high five ✋🏼
+Anizzy Thank you! #ReturnFive
+3D Printing Nerd hey Joel, I finally was able to purchase the wanhao i3 and it comes today I can't wait ,thanks for the great video review on the printer and the recommendations , keep up the great work #highfive 🖐🏼
Anizzy Whoa, that's great! #NewPrinterHighFive
Is this still your go to printer today?
actually, now, the Prusa i3 mk2 is my current go-to printer
3D Printing Nerd thanks Hope your feeling better and I thought the live stream was tight! I hope there's more live stream in the future
You prefer the Prusa to the Lolsbot?
Is that because you're a print junkie and know how to tweak the i3 type printers?
I'm a 3D print virgin/noob and looking for something out of the box because I want to start printing parts for a project I'm hoping to be able to sell. (crown gears and cam locks) So I want it as a tool, not a 'hobby'.
I was considering the Prusa but I don't want to spend the time building it and making modifications.
I've heard good things about the Prusa, but this one's grabbed my attention...
Muzz Litebeer TRUST ME!!!!! You will adore a prusa i3 Mk2!! It’s just as easy to work with and it’s much cheaper!!! So many awesome features on it trust me dude check it out. I’m trying to save u a bunch of headaches
I want one so bad. This is my dream printer lol
+Andrew Sicairos It's a wonderful machine. If you ever do get one, you'll love it.
+3D Printing Nerd yea, hopefully I'll get one this year
This machine kind of reminds me of the robo 3d, I have one and it is a great printer
+llslimjadyll I've yet to play with a Robo 3D, though, I look forward to it. The Lulzbot Mini is built like a tank and crazy precise. I love it.
I love my taz 5!!!
+gambitraven Oh man, I've heard great things about the TAZ 5!
yeah the one thing that was hard was manualy leveling the bed to get the best prints I spent over 3 hours when I first got to get it to its sweet spot
I would put this against a Craftbot Plus to see which is better.
+TheIcemanModdeler I would love to see that comparison.
+3D Printing Nerd There is a review for the Craftbot Plus and the reviewer also tested the Lulzbot Mini and gave a quick comparison saying that the print quality on the Lulzbot Mini is better but he was using ABS where the Craftbot Plus was using PLA so i'm not sure if the comparison is accurate.

There is also a review on the original Craftbot and really interesting way of testing how accurate the printer is with things like overhangs, bridging and so on.

Cost worth it for the build space? #HighFive
Personally, I think so 6x6x6 isn't bad, and the machine's ability and consistency also come into play. I think it's worth the price.
+3D Printing Nerd At around $5 per square inch of print volume, it does seem high compared to a Kossel for example - but as they say, size isn't everything :) Hope you and the family have a great Easter! #HighFive BTW The Mrs and I are sitting down to some DrWho #ParentingBliss
True, price at a per square inch comparison is a bit pricey, but, just like you said, size isn't everything :) #HighFive to you and yours and I hope YOU have a wonderful Easter! Happy Doctor Who viewing!
+3D Printing Nerd Just finished "The Satan Pit" where The Doctor beats the devil himself ... rather appropriate given the Easter Holiday it seems ;)
Richard T Rather appropriate indeed! Also, the animation for the devil character in that episode is CRAZY good. The first time I saw it, I couldn't watch it with the lights off. SUPER scary.
awesomeness
+Angel Ramos agreed!
Would buy for half the price.
I didnt know they still made the mini.
+POVadventure Oh yes, and it's awesome.
I want the taz 5. It has a huge print volume and the option for a dual print head.
+POVadventure wait for taz 6 coming very soon
Very cool Printer, Very horrifying octopus.
I work with a FF Creator Pro at work and that dual nozzle is hard to beat! :)
+Goodmourning257 I have a Flashforge Creator Pro as well and I love mine!
3D Printing Nerd Having no real experience with any others though this one looks pretty awesome. that auto leveling feature seems like a dream! Wanna get some exotic filament now and try my luck/patience :P
+Goodmourning257 do it! I've printed a whole bunch of exotic on my FFCP. it's GREAT for that!
3D Printing Nerd Another noob question but id like to hear your input. What is the best technique for removing your prints from the heated plate? do you do it hot or cold? ive noticed you usually print raftless but sometimes when i do my prints seem to become molecularly bonded to the plate and break when im trying to get them off. thanks in advance for any tips and tricks keep up the great work!
Goodmourning257 It always depends on the type of build plate and what tools you have. removing cold is usually best. If your stuff is particularly hard to remove, it could be that your nozzle is slightly too close to the bed when printing.
