Front end of the 750 looks like if they made a base model version of the 720.
Lol nice view, it does.
I don't like artificially enlarged grille design, so this is nice
@@falcongamer58 Where's the large grille?
@SlyTheUberMan the 720S had an artificially enlarged grille where some panels were colored black, but the 750S had the true grille size by making the panels body colored
@@falcongamer58 It looks too bland, the 720 had more character in the front end.
I absolutely love the clean and smooth design, i also love how they kept the 720s design language, they're doing a Porsche, I'll like to see more manufacturers iterating design languages instead of overhauling everytime.
I mean it’s just a refresh… it’s not a full remodel
@@gavcom4060 true, but most mclarens look very similar which some people like (including me :D)
@@gavcom4060 yeah I wouldn’t go as far to say that this car is an “evolution” like say, the 911 has been since the very beginning.
It’s the same damn car not what Porsche does with model changes or even .1 model changes.
Porsche designs are getting lazier, gone are the days when the beauty emerged from cars like the Carrera GT. Most models look the same except Taycan and the SUVs which actually feel a bit premium as compared to their top-end models looking like hatchbacks from the rear.
The folding cluster in the 720s is a gem of a system
The 720S is still one of the most original and timeless looking cars ever, many are disappointed that the 750S is so similar but as one well known automotive journalist had compared the 720S to the Lamborghini Countach in terms of its ground breaking design in the supercar world….. and I agree with that too.
loving the directional wheels, 2 for the left side and 2 different ones for the right side
Nice catch there, havent noticed it
I believe that's from the Elva
It's nice that high end cars are finally doing this, the wheels won't be rotated to the other side anyways because you have directional tires
@@alexreitler true
The smoothened front actually feels 60's retro to me
So beautiful
Yeah I can feel that a little too
I kinda feel like this could be an EV from the front view
Feels like a 720s with some of the styling from the speed tail. I really like it
Finally someone noticed!
Completely agree.
Cool idea. Try to design the c9 corvette with a more mature and beautiful design kinda like the c7 was. Could be a fun project
@Brian Lee i think they meant c8
Bembli, you've said it yourself about black accents. They make the design look slimmer, thus sportier. That's what is missing from the 750S at the front compared to the 720S. It comes off looking heavier or fuller than it's supposed to be.
Remember Jaguar's F-Type and the first refresh it received; how the lower trim pieces and diffuser got body colored making it look fat.
Remember to do yourselves a favour when specc'ing yours and tick the body-colour headlight socket box. It really makes the 720/750S a lot more aggressive-looking.
The air scoop in the side skirt of the 750s looks so similar to the OG McLaren F1.
I love this car so much.
My favourite design feature about these cars is where they placed the air intake around the cabin instead of behind the doors, it makes the side of the car look so much smoother and sleeker. It was such an innovative design feature I love it.
Love your videos. Nice new design on the 750s, would prefer double exhaust as in the 720 though imo :)
The 720S and it's variants (the 765LT and the 750S) are some of the most stunningly beautiful cars ever made.
First time I saw the 750, I thought that McLaren "pulled an Apple". But your explainatios made me appreciate what they did and understand why they did it.
I really liked the improvements they made in the 765 so these changes are quite nice, bar the front splitter being body coloured maybe
I think it works because it is integrated gracefully. Too many cars have unnecessary black trim in my eyes.
I thought that at first but viewing the whole thing naturally changed my mind
It's ironic that car manufactures have shifted to industrial design and treating cars as tech, whereas McLaren a tech company with an automative arm doesn't.
Outstanding review. You nailed it when you told the difference between product design and artistic design. I believe I saw a 720S on Woodward Ave in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan the other day and it's so intimidating, C8 Corvettes were getting out of its way.
They knocked this out of the park - and mind you I loathe EV design. It doesn't look like an EV. It looks like a more polished, almost concept/speedtail rendition of the 720s design. Everyone wants entirely new designs ... Why? This looks amazing
I love that they have visually reduced the intakes in the front. It makes it look distinct from all the other hypercars that either look very angry or just very open.
The shaping of the body is absolutely phenomenal in my opinion.
Awesome analysis especially on the industrial design and automotive design
I love how clean the 720s is tho, the contrasting carbon fiber front bumper intakes, the flush rear spoiler, and the lack of the ugly vent behind the rear wheels, it's a more perfect design imo
The 750s is what the 488 GTB wass to the 458 Italia an evolutionary successor based on the same platform.
Love your analysis of design its so refreshing to hear someone break down the aesthetics of a car so well.
I Just Love How You Breakdown & Explain Design Of Cars/Vehicles!.That's How Exactly How I Feel & Love The Cars/Vehicles I Dig!.Thanks
It is simple and beautiful, the 750s design is perfect, if you want something more aggressive they make the 765LT
I looooove it 😊
It's like a mix of 765 LT and 720S, i like It but doesn't look completely original
Same it's lovely!
I really like the front how the body colors isn't broken and the sweeping vent design blends in nicely 👌
Also there's a reason these car are so fast and that's because of super slippery body shape ,when you have perfection why change?
McLaren steady being futuristic the 720 was so ahead of it's time features wise it took people's brains a while to catch up to the styling and appreciate it and that's a Hard Task that's why the P1 looks like a 2023 model tbh and by keeping the interior minimilistic stops it from Aging makes it timeless hopefully by now they get the bugs out because McLaren reliability really Sucks at times
I can usually tell the difference between cars and trim levels etc etc. but for this one, imma needa comparison between this and the 720 to noticed the differences
I'm a big fan of the 720s, so I do like how this car looks, it's just that I expected this to be a bigger update similar to the Artura. It feels like we've already been through this with the 765LT. I guess we're still waiting for the 720s' successor..
How is this not the successor if its a better looking and performing version?
@@OBsurdityTV Better looking...
@@OBsurdityTV I don't think it's a significant enough change for it to be the successor. This is a variant, just like the longtail. The E-Ray Corvette is more of a successor to the C8 than this.
@@yt_Ajay_ The thing is I think they’ve Maxed out the potential of this Model design wise.
I don’t think there’s any possible “successor” they would most likely end up butchering it’s design formula similar to what Happened with Corvette.
Corvette tho had way more room for Improvement that they didn’t have to butcher it how they did.
this is exactly what lambo did with the Aventador S and nobody cried about it.
could you do a review on the p1? Its such a beautiful car
don't get me wrong, i love the design, just wished they could've came up something more "aggressive" with the 750s just something like with the more track focused 765LT
Its funny, the 720/750s has a design language that i wish the c8 corvette had employed. The mid engine corvette Stingray should've had a design language that reflected its namesake. Stingray, aquatic, a creature of the ocean. fast and sleek. But instead GM Chevy designers doesn't believe in curves. apparently their designers all have straight edges and have banned all use of curves. which makes all their vehicles look like something from an 80's metal hair band. all Z's and no S
The bottom part of the front on the 750S reminds me of a Koenigsegg Agera, they really made it look clean and smooth!
Both beautiful car, I would love to own a 720 if price goes down.
Literally all of the comments in my video about it say the exact same thing that it’s a complete letdown 😂
I loved the 720S, its lines were incredible, so sensual, and the new one is even better ! They took the same but they go even further in the gracefulness ! The front in one piece reminds me the rock eroded by the waterflow ! The only thing I think I prefer on the 720S is the rear end. the new one is too round and less defined, and I prefer without the air vent on each side of the diffuser
Was waiting for you to cover this, 1st by the way :)
My favorite thing about this car is the wheels and front end and maybe the rear grille as well.
I guess they took the “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” approach. From that perspective, I guess I don’t mind it looking the same.
Will you do a review of the new SF90 VS? I THINK It looks awesome
Exhaust should’ve been triple exit, fits perfectly between 720S and 765 and gives it a little more width, also the air vents near the rear wheel wells shouldn’t have been added and left felt like 720S, should’ve debuted the car in a carbon front splitter and body matched
love this thanks
I’ve always liked the smoky eye of the 720.
the 720 looks like a real spaceship the new one looks nerfed
Front looks a bit too plain
Yeah a little too soft
Hi Bembli, could You compare Lykan Hypersport with Lamborgini Revuelto?
I perfectly agree with your thought
How about 765LT?
Rear side duct for 750S is open, 765LT fully open with curl around one big peace carbon fiber.
I personally couldn't wait for next gen 765LT.
there will be no next 765lt looking at their history, it'll a a completely new successor to the 750s , then followed up by a. new lt aswell
Other than the all body-colored front which looks... odd without a plate covering it up, I'd say they did a decent face lift. Still refer the previous model tho.
If it's not broke.. don't fix it. Love that they stayed true to their roots.
Talking about design it is 95% the same car
I remember when a bottle of whisky can open a new life for you...now is:-get drunk and face the hangover...)
8:44 preach bro. Mercedes please take notes
What do you think about new Cupra Tavascan?
why would the remove the moving cluster....
12:12 I love your content, but that’s just false. The Ferrari F8 and SF90 were the only modern cars from Ferrari to go in this direction. Every Ferrari that followed had that elegance you were looking for. The Roma. The 296. The Purosangue. The Daytona SP3. They were all much more elegant
True. I also find the F8 beautiful and cool at the same time, I did since the first time I saw it.
@@diego432hz I respectfully disagree
@@mrsoisauce9017 It's ok friend. There is nothing to agree, I said how I find the F8.
Sp1 and 2 are great looking cars well
@@pokegan52 forgot about those
i think the front would match up more with the rest of the car if they would just put some tipe of black fin on the front, thats my only proplem with it, it just looks a bit too clean. But the rest is almost perfect
I don't think they should do exactly what lamborghini did. Have the electric motors give power and make the car much faster. Maybe the electric motors can power just the front wheels and give awd for a better launch. Maybe use Formula 1 technology and make something like the MGU H, use the electric motor to spin up the turbos so you can always have max boost without any turbo lag.
I've always loved the 720S, to the point of calling it "The Vision"
To me, it's the best successor to the F1, style-wise.
It's great to have "The Vision 2.0" for a few more years to come!🤩😍🤩
P1 beats it
@McLaren should really see this content!
Cant wait for your next Ferrari video hopefully the sf90 VS will be released soon 🤞
Can't wait for the 795lt 😅
Mclaren have an identity and a reputation, hard fought for and worked for for over years now. They are in my opinion ( yup mine@!), they are now up there with porsche and ferrari.
765LT will always be my favourite tho
The newer design looks older than the older design, but both look good.
Imo, this 750S looks slightly better than the 720S design but both def great car designs
McLaren automotive making so many W’s but their F1 team taking so many L’s
I still miss the McLaren crest headlights
Does any know if the 750s is longer than the 720s?
It is. But still shorter than the 765.
@@Lockstock30 thank you.
Awesome car!
"If I had designed the 720 side view like this, I would probably just retire". That's exactly what Frank Stephenson did.
6:40 koenigsegg and bugatti joining the conversation
This is 720S made to look 765LT ish which is a very good thing
It’s not the successor it’s just a faced lifted 720s just how like the aventador s is a face lift of the original aventador
*Why did this video end suddenly?*
I was so hyped when i learned that McLaren was to bring a new car to replace the 720s just to realise that it almost look almost the same! bring back Frank Stephenson!!!
As an engineer I agree that industrial design has taken over too much. Personally I think the core of car design should be emotional and the engineering should be made to those constraint then minor changes should occur to get the last bit of function up to spec (e.g. rear diffuser)
Being honest... It´s like the 765 and 720 had a Baby...
The front is very ''smooth'' (too smooth for me, really didnt like the new front), and they lifted the rear a bit (like the 765), more grills open in rear (like 765) and exhaust below the rear spoiler (like what???).
Mechanical is like...
30 hp more, 30 kg less, same gear ratio of the 765LT... FIVE % more downforce and the front is 6 mm wider... Some suspension changes and...
A totally new car?
Comparing with Dodge upgrading the Hellcat to the Red Eye:
707 to 797 (90 hp more), a bit more weight because that time the car is 3,5 INCHES wider (not 6 mm), bigger tires, new reinforced transmission, bigger brakes, bigger everything.
Outside is just the Red Eye Logo with some fenders in wheel archs...
Still incredible.
I mean... The 720S is already a beast of a car, but they didnt make anything faster than the 765 LT, so, to me it´s just somewhat a face-lifted of the 720S with a few extras.
LOVE it
Just add a couple of double AA batteries for the next model
Wheels are elegant
It can't compete with the Revuelto and Stradale. I was hoping for a 1020s or 1050s. It's like the Aventador all over again recycling
I've never found these particularly beautiful. Cool looking but not beautiful
Is it the eye sockets? And yes it is a very fluid almost concept nike shoe type of design haha
@@John.Christopher yeah exactly
Wish they havle changed headlights
rear corner and rear light of old car is cleaner but new front is cleaner
but i like old ne for havign a big open mouth and less mass being noticable due to more darkening of the mouth (grille). but this isnt too bad for sake of novelty, its unique even today while ev are doing same thing, and it kinda reminds u of areodynamics in that the fron end is smooth then it gets more complex as you looking toward end of car
Looks more like an apex predator than the Revuelto, would love to have the trouble of deciding which to buy!
Yep . Cars are feeling more and more like they are driving you instead of you driving the car.
The future is strange
It almost looks like an electric car with the total lack of air intakes anywhere
In terms of Power figure it is same as mac 765 LT so basically a steal deal
Body coloured front makes it look very visually heavy
Im curious: what are his legitimate qualifications related to critically discussing Design Engineering practice abd theory?..
A designer would acknowledge his credentials in this context.
4:37 😂
What would the 800LT look like 😮
Gonna take a wild guess that it will be the 795LT with 785 hp
side view seem 750s fix massive gap
800 LT ?
front bumper/fascia remind me of tesla with clean surface
6:23 honestly the side view is nice, but it's just a sea of body color, it needs that side intake to break up the sea of empty color 😌
