    Onesies really hit me hard. My older sister is unable to have children and when I had my daughter I could tell it was really, really hard on her. The pain of not being able to have her own compounded with the guilt she felt for being envious of me - she was going through a lot of pain. I completely understood it and made sure I was always supportive. When we found out my daughter was deaf my sister really stepped up. I was stressed enough about being a new mom and had no idea where to start raising a deaf child. She's such an active part in my daughters life now, loves her with all her heart. She still struggles coming to terms with her own situation, but always makes sure to reach out now instead of retreating. She tells me "I've got people I need to be there for now. And that's enough."

    As someone who can't carry to term safely, having my own children is sadly not an option for me. This episode really got to me and made me feel seen. It means a lot to see shows actually deal with this kind of thing without the character in question getting a miraculous baby or adopting seemingly overnight. Life is messy and these topics are more complex than just problem/solution. And I love that Bluey as a show doesn't necessarily try to solve every problem it presents, but often shows kids and grown ups how to be more understanding of other people's struggles and how to support one another. There's a genuine kindness underlying every episode that I think everyone needs in their lives, especially right now. It's such a good show.

    • @heytallman
      @heytallman  11 месяцев назад +12

      @nonpondo_ I personally didn't have much copyright trouble with this or the last bluey video I did. Of the six total bluey episodes I only had to go back and fix a tiny portion of Tradies. Maybe it's just my editing style that helps it get through, who knows.
      Anyway I think for most creators it's the purely episodic nature of the show that discourages reactions. With so many episodes and nothing that super builds from one to the next I could see this being not too great a target for reaction content.
      Not stopping me though!

    “Tradies” actually has two subtle hints of continuity from previous episodes. Chilli already mentioned wanting to install a fish pond all the way back in Season 2’s “Stumpfest,” and “Onesies” (which came BEFORE “Tradies”) had Bingo ram into the mailbox with her bike. You’ll notice that it’s still slightly crooked in a few shots until Sparky casually straightens it out.

    Whenever infertility comes up, people always start about adoption. And that's a bit sad, because it's often not an available 'solution'. To qualify for adoption one has to jump through a lot of hoops and requirements, have a lot of recources (time and money), and basically a flawless past and (mental) health. And even when you qualify, it can be a heartbreaking and extremely stressful process. There are MANY awesome people who simply don't qualify or can't handle or afford such a gruelling period off stress and uncertainty. THAT DOES NOT MEAN that they would be bad parents. Just that the cold hard numbers and statistics are not on their side.
    And I hear that in Australia, adoption is even MORE complicated, as the practise has an EXTREMELY traumatic past which makes it controversial to this day.

    I like the ending of tradies as it’s sort of a way to teach kids of relationships having rough spots and that they can fix and heal. Could help with children who have parents who may be going through a rough spot

    Reading these comments makes me feel less alone. Even though I never had a child, I am transmale that had to undergo a hysterectomy about 2 years ago a day before Christmas to remove tumors that were killing me and had to wait 3 dreadful years to be allowed to take the surgery. Sadly I didn't get the option to transition because I simply couldn't afford it and was worried if similar painful experience would happen again if I had a male part instead.The doctor asked me over and over yet as much as it deeply hurt I had to decline transition and act like I was okay. Whenever I see that Onesies episode since my lil' nieces love the show, I can't help but go in the other room & look at my three scars and have that sad thought of what if or what could've been.

    14:10 they’re really not heytallman 😝 Aussie soft serve 🍦 isn’t the worst but it’s far from the best, but as a kid you can’t always tell what’s the best quality.

    While it's meant to represent infertility, I like to interpret "Onesies" as 'fitting' someone who can't have kids for any reason despite wanting them. People my age in the USA aren't necessarily against the idea of having kids, the problem is that we can't AFFORD it. No guaranteed paid parental leave, expensive healthcare, the cost of daycare/education, and that's all on top of other common expenses like housing and food. It's just not meant to be.

    A lot of people get choked up because they had infertility issues and needed IVF. I had cancer, it took my ability to have any kids away period. Just bitter hearing about other people struggling then finally getting what they wanted. Unless you completely have no options for a biological child, you will never understand how it feels.

    What the Hell mate. It's not the BBC that's british TV and they make horrible stuff like Pepa pig and in the Night garden they just have the globle licence besides in America where its Disney. It's made by the ABC Australian Broadcasting Channel.
