    Janelle and Chucky first appeared in Pass the Parcel. Janelle’s team is New South Wales because she’s from there, while everyone else is supporting Queensland. The commentators from the match in the show are legit commentators. They actually got real commentators for authenticity.
    At the end, the green and gold team is Australia and the black team is New Zealand, which is where Mackenzie’s family is from.
    The Decider is seen as a divorce allegory but it can also be a bit pressuring to young children to choose which team to support if their family’s divided in that regard (my brother wound up going for the same team my late mum did, my dad and I both went for two different teams so my brother was basically “pressured” (playfully) about three teams, and that was before cousins came into it).
    For Turtleboy, they actually animated based off witnessing real interactions and then with professional help, they were able to animate for four fingers AUSLAN. There is also a version of the episode that had someone serve as AUSLAN interpretation for the whole episode. Deaf child’s name was Dougie, he and his mum are cavoodles, which are apparently a breed known for developing hearing issues.

      It never ceases to amaze me how much thought and detail go into this show. The fact that Dougie and their mom are a breed known for hearing issues is just 😭😭😭
      I definitely picked up on the divorce coding of the episode, albeit for a joke or two. I know a lot of people for whom sports dictates a lot of their life and free time, so it was hard to divorce myself (no pun intended) from the surface level sports stuff going on.

      Every day, I gain more admiration with how much this show doesn’t just make any character any type of breed with a design for no reason.

    I don't know if they are actually divorced but I looked at the decider being a bit divorced coded. Where Chucky had to choose who to be with and the mom being sad that he didn't choose her but didn't push it. Pat even looked back at her a bit sad. I could just be looking more into it because I hate sports and I hoped it had a deeper meaning

      It very much is a metaphor for a divorce

      It is definitely a metaphor but Pat and Janelle are very much still together

      No no, ur spot on. Though no, they arent divorced.

      Yeah, maybe it can be a metaphor for divorce but it’s really about sport. People take this State of Origin thing seriously.

    The park (like basically every outdoor location you see the characters in) is based off a real park. And the show crew left a real life turtle boy there woth a note with the lesson of the episode and it should still be there to this day

    okay but I LOVE that aniamtion scene, the team fought hard to make sure it got in cause they wanted to have that feelings like older cartoons when you see the pen come into frame and drawsomething for the characters! This will surely inspire so many young kids to take a closer look how animation is done and bring an entire new generation of creative souls.

    The Decider is one of those distinctly Australian episodes that maybe doesn’t travel to countries / cultures that don’t get the references and the significance. It’s a State of Origin match, where various members of professional rugby teams play for their state. The purple is Queensland, where Bluey is set, and the blue is New South Wales, so it would seem that’s where Lucky’s mum is from. I’m not from a state that has a big rugby presence (other Aussie states AFL is THE big game), and I don’t follow sport at all, but State of Origin is one of those things that is so engrained in Australian culture that you just absorb it without even realising.

      Don't get me wrong: that's some really cool context to hear from an Australian. But I mean, I'm American, and I could just relate it to the Super Bowl.

    • @MsDee255
      @MsDee255 9 месяцев назад +3

      @@MattTOB618 It’s not exactly the same thing, though I get what you’re saying. It’s professional players all joining up from their different teams and playing for their home state, so it’s a huge deal because everyone gets really territorial. It would be more like if the professional NFL players whose home states were, say, Texas and Oklahoma formed a home team each for a big grudge match. It’s a different vibe from the grand final (our version of the Super Bowl).

    Two parts were censored:
    - in Unicorse, they changed "Care for a lick?" to "You want a bit?"
    - in The Decider, they changed "We're gonna flog ya!" to "We're gonna beat ya!"

  • @battybuddy
    @battybuddy 5 месяцев назад +4

    My headcanon is unicorse was Bandits imaginary friend when he was Bingos age, that he blamed everything on. He might not have been a unicorn back then but after Bandit became a dad, he channeled the character through a puppet he bought.
    Also Bandit HIMSELF doesn’t always know what unicorse is gonna do, he just does the voice and cuts loose.

      I also like how Mackinzie commonly doesn’t really know what’s going on.
      He just sees his parents razing Bluey and Luckys parents and is like “what?…”

    It's always amazing how (playfully) territorial Aussies get during State of Origin. For those who don't know (and haven't read the other comments), State of Origin is a best-of-three set of NRL games when football players originally from New South Wales (the Blues) play a match against players originally from Queensland (the Maroons). Busses will be decked out in team colours, the NSW police force harrass the Queesland police force via Facebook, and there are border towns where the rivalry gets downright vicious. Also, every Aussie who saw this episode knew what the outcome would be the instant we realized it was about State of Origin. All the animators are Queenslanders and the show is set in Brisbaine; of course the Maroons would win.

    While the others are funnier, or more emotional, the Decider is one of my favourites for a couple of reasons.
    Firstly, I love it when Bluey mirrors the real world State of Origin, Queensland vs New South Wales is a real annual series of gamesWatching this actually inspired me to get an NRL match subscription.
    I also love the rivalry, and how Lucky didn’t know what to do, because he thought that he’d be letting one parent down, no matter which side he supported. But they learned that as important as the game is, their family was what really mattered.

    I think the final rule in musical statues is a commentary about life ..... not about who wins or lose but everyone just dancing.

    Can you watch Pass The Parcel and Baby Race? There my favorite also I understand having trouble having children, my sister lost her first baby and we had trouble cheering her up because she really loved her baby. It was going to be be a girl but my mom said she was too young at 19 but still bought her baby clothes, I plan to adopt when I’m ready or if I still feel this way in a few more years

      Short answer: yes
      Long answer: my video schedule is pretty packed coming up with Hazbin Hotel and the looming owl house season 3 being all 40+ minute episodes (I think). So as far as when, who knows, but I'm going to try my best to record a set of 3 shortly after these come out!
