My first mod release! Exciting stuff. This is my take on a port of Wave Ocean from Sonic 06. I've made numerous changes throughout the level to accomodate for the differences in Sonic Generations's engine and gameplay style. The end result is a level that feels at home in Generations, albeit slower-paced then the main game's stages. I've intentionally taken a number of slow routes in this video in order to show off as much of the level as possible, but there's actually a lot of different paths you can take in most parts of the level, and if you're into breaking the game or speedrunning, there's a lot of room to experiment and come up with creative strategies.
Installation instructions can be found in the readme included with the download. If you have any problems, feel free to leave a comment and I'll try to help you out.

It is so satisfying to see Sonic run across the water vs. sliding.
Forreal!!! I hated how they were so lazy in 06 to just reuse the Slide animation on the water.
This is probably the best fan made level mod for sonic generations, The level looks great, has been redone to fit sonics moveset, and has a great section added at the end. Great job.

Okay I'll admit it, as much as I like brainuu sonic 06 Wave Ocean; yours is definitely what SEGA should've done. It's a perfect balance of speed and platforming. And lets' not forget dat HUB World and hub music. I hope you take into consideration to make an 06 project mod.

Man that's done super well. I like the little changes to the stage so it keeps it fresh but also showing off how like the original it is. Also shows off EXACTLY what they wanted to do in the first place! Nice job!

Wow, really impressive. I was going to watch this thinking "there's no way Wave Ocean could translate well ported into generations" but you made it work, so there's not much to else to say.

Omg Paraxade0, HAVE MY BABIES! It's so well done and so polished! I can't believe this is even the same level from the Sonic 2006 game! You clearly understand very very well how Sonic Team intended to make modern Sonic Generations levels, it feels like a official level :)

THIS IS SO COOL!!! I always imagined this stage was meant to be this way! But it should really be combined with the mach speed section like brianuuuSonic's is, it feels a bit too short. But I loved how you improved the whale section, that was awesome!! I kind of prefer using the wall jump rather than the springs, if there's a mod for that, that would be cool. Great job!
Wow you managed to keep the spirit of it but make it clearly a Generations Stage. That is not something I have seen done nearly as well in any of the other ports. Wonderful job

What i love about this stage is that you made your own danger signs for water. the stage is great in design and the white world hub music is beautiful...AWESOME
hahaha i knew at some point it may be you that may release this :3 I gotta say this is much better than the one brianuuusonic did. It's more sonic generations friendly as in you can actually go fast with out dying all a sudden or because of bad level design. Brianuuu's version at least to me felt like it more suited as a mod for Sonic Adventure DX than a game that's more 3D sonic rush styled. The only issues I have with this mod are the absent of the mach speed section and I did suffer a bit of lag while playing but that could be just my PC. I give this mod a B+ because I can. :3
See, mods like this can help us pretend that Sonic '06 didn't suck.
Im going to share this on both channels: This video looks as if Sega took the stage, revamped it, and gave it a cinematic look to present at some big event like E3. The stage plays smoothly with obvious paths for the player to follow and it overall just oozes the underlying message that lots of time and effort went into this.
I gotta say this is a really fun mod!! As much like both versions of wave ocean there`s some things about either one that I like and other things that I don`t. My only problem would have to be that this stage is very short and it just leaves me craving for more. Since the matchspeed section is never going on this one maybe there`s a possibility to make some missions? Nobody in generation modding has attempted custom missions yet, so I guess that`s a way to increase more replay value on this stage.
You know, we've had, like, three Wave Ocean mods by now and this one look like it's the most balanced.

Alright, so I know Brianuuu doesn't seem to like criticism, but his level design choices are fundamentally flawed. This by comparison looks brilliant and well polished, and I imagine you've been working on it for about the same time. My only complaint is the lack of hidden wall jump panels and the mach speed section.
Your animations for the wales however are the best I've seen in Generations. Even better than the Emerald Coast mod. Great work! Can't wait to see more on Kingdom Valley!
Actually I started on this mid-December, so 7 and a half weeks ago. 6 weeks of actual development (I was at AGDQ for a bit over a week). 3 weeks from zero to beta, another three weeks from beta to final.
Paraxade0 Wow.. That makes it even more incredible by comparison then. I think his has been in development for over a year now. o.O
I think his main problem though is that he doesn't completely grasp the concept of the boost gameplay. He's trying to be more faithful to Sonic 06 and on this engine, that doesn't really work.
***** Well I'm just going by what I see, and I see you brushing off valid complaints or just plain ignoring them. When you make a mod, incomplete or otherwise that somehow looks worse than the material its based off of, that's questionable at worst. When that game is SONIC 06 on the other hand, you need to seriously reevaluate your approach to the design.
Don't get me wrong, you have some good ideas, and it does have its strangely nostalgic charm, but the glaring flaws with it tend to overshadow its good bits.
***** I've been following you and your levels for the duration of the development. All I know is what you've told us and if there's anything more behind the scenes, then you can't expect us to just read your mind on that one.
All I know right now is that it took Parax just over two months to do brilliantly what it's taken you nearly a year or more to do admittedly rather poorly, no offense personally. Parax's level isn't without its flaws either, but yours by comparison is borderline unplayable. And that's even compared to the original.
***** And FYI: "gotta love how people compare a finished mod with an unfinished one, idk, might happen, facepalm" Is pretty much a preemptive dodging of inevitable comparative criticism that frankly I think you very much need. Healthy competition is what makes the games industry great. Trying to brush it off when you see it like that, or in this case BEFORE you see it, is how we GET the Sonic 06s and Superman 64s of the world.
Awesome work parax! If I had a computer that could even hope to run Sonic Generations decently, I would play this level. (My machine currently meets all requirements except the video card :( )

This really looks graphically pleasing in a way I just did not expect. Has there been texture replacements or is this just the hedgehog engine doing it's thing?
MissHystic Nah, I didn't do any custom textures. It's down to some custom vertex coloring and the GI that Melpontro rendered for the level.

Played this today dude. Bloody brilliant. love the alternative routes. Any chance you are going to work on further Sonic 06 levels? The quality of this is spot on. I've been trying Brianuu's mod, but it is just nowhere near as polished. Would love to see the full game done :) Thank you

Paraxade0 Oh I fully understand that. I am just so amazed that you managed to fully 'heal' one of the levels from the tragically unfinished Sonic 06. The level really does stand up on it's own thanks to your clever redesign, and I think the whole generations/ Sonic 06 community would appreciate you putting your touch on some of the other 06 levels that had so much potential... Again, Thank you for this dude. I agree with another previous poster- Sega should get you, long with the unleashed team on board to port other levels which could be sold as DLC :)

Yo, Paraxade! Is it possible to reduce the slowdown Sonic receives when running on water? I'm trying to make a boost-less physics mod for Sonic and it's going well, only Sonic still cannot run safely on water without having to boost.
In other words, I'd like to make Sonic no longer slow down while running on top of the water, but still require the player to have to keep moving to stay afloat. If you've played The Unleashed Project with Classic Sonic on Jungle Joyride you know exactly what I mean.
Oh! Never mind! I figured it out! Turns out it's Water Decrease Force. Neat!

O_O OMFG! When JoeyLaw leaked this (dick) I knew this would be awesome, but I didn't think it would be THIS Awesome! Love The HUB and the Level. So many path ways yet so fast paced, really feels like a Generations level. I'm a but disappointed at the lack of Shadow Section and March-Speed Section, but it isn't a big deal and other that that I have NO issues. Great Job Man, I expect nothing less from Kingdom Valley! (How is that going BTW?)
Ok, I think a lot of people are going to bring this up, so let me explain why I didn't include those sections.
- First of all, I wanted to develop this mod in a short timeframe, so I wanted to focus just on the main level.
- Second, I think both of those areas would have been too big of a departure from the rest of the stage's level design; Shadow Island in particular is far too nonlinear, with no clearly defined structure or end point, and I don't really think it would have played well at all or fit into the stage naturally. The mach speed section I think probably would have felt like padding to me.
- Another con for the mach speed section is that there's already a few other ports of it, and I don't think mine would have been much different, so I think it would have been redundant to do my own version.
***** Oh yeah, I was gonna say. Out of everyone who was involved in the leak, joeylaw is honestly the person I would blame the least for it.

Paraxade0 You should make Starlight Carnival from Sonic Colors! Steal the track from either Sonic Colors Wii or Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed on PC or whatever console! Maybe use the remixes from Transformed. Another good idea is to make Sweet Mountain but maybe use the track from Mario and Sonic London Olympics and use the remix song from that game. I'm unsure if you can do all of this because I don't mod but it would be amazing if you did!

This mod looks very nice! I like the "whale" signs. Are these turned off if you turn off pit signs in the game?
It's also good to see that Paraxade and brianuuu don't hate on each other, it's just much nicer to look at the comment section now and see actual debates, friendly people and no flaming.
They're just retextured fall signs, so I'd assume yes.
