Might need to check out vintage adapters eventually, but the mounting solution just seems overly complicated. I guess a 15mm LWS system would be the way to go
@@kaichuuuuuu Great comment. Mine was way too generic. The behind the scenes of that comment was that I have the Helios 2/55 and my camera made much better colors using it rather than the kit lens.
The focus ring getting stuck is because the pin at the back of the lens hits a surface on the adapter, I've had the same issue on my copy, Helios 44-2 however does not have this pin and is much easier to adapt.
I found one helios 44M4 on an old camera my father owned, a zenith 12XP, i'm indeed surprise by how sharp that thing can get for an old soviet lense :)
very very high production value! do you have a link for the lens hood or whatever it is in order to make the lens a little bit more versatile concerning 82mm filter thread size? :)
Sub 1000 subscribers? Wow! I expected you to have wayy over a million after watching the video, great work! Also, mind telling me where to get the "anamorfake" add-on?
Thank you!! ❤️ I actually purchased the lens with the mods applied. However I did mod one of my lenses for goofs and gags by cutting a circle cutout from a plastic container for an SSD I bought and snapped it behind the iris. For manual lenses, I think it should be relatively easy to mod, but not sure for autofocus lenses or any lens with electronics. I’m sure there are sellers on somewhere like Etsy who makes cutouts for popular lenses though!
I bought the Helios 44-2 about 2 months ago and really love the lens. But she's not the sharpest (at least mine). But I 100% agree on all the rest in your video and love shouting with her.
that is interesting. i picked up a 44-2 and have found it the sharpest of my vintage lenses, and it goes toe to toe with my modern lenses. i didnt realize how sharp it was until i started pixel peeping and was pleasantly surprised.
@superbmediacontentcreator I always shout at my lenses so they perform better 😉😂 Thank you very much for the history lesson, I didn't know that. It's really interesting I may have to inform myself about mine. I know there were 3 manufacturers of the lens.
Nice footage, if i watch this video and put my phone horizontly the whole screen is filled. Other yt anamorphic videos is this not. What is the solution please? Is it a special aspect ratii for yor project? Have you final cut pro x?
I actually did not for this video! I made a couple color grades that I applied a different shots based on what I felt looked right. The lens shots were from a scrapped video. I have developed a LUT and and working on a couple more that I am thinking of sharing soon as well though!
@visualfocusphotographymedi100 I finally received it a few days ago. It took the seller 3 weeks just to print the shipping label 🤦♂️. It's a great lens though. I did have to take it apart because the modded part of the lens was crooked and made the light flares shine diagonally instead of horizontal but it was an easy fix. I will be filming some video with it soon
I didn’t do it, someone did it and I bought it like that. I briefly went over what it is in my video but the channel “Anamorphic on a Budget” has a few videos about the anamorfake mod going over how it’s physically done!
Hello, I bought a helios 44m4 and I wanted the cine mod, but when the aperture ring turns, my cine mod also turns, because the interior rotates, how can I fix this?
Zenit made a cinema line which includes the Helios a while ago, several Russian movies were shot on these and the GH4 with a speedbooster, could instantly tell that the swirly bokeh was present in many of their shots, but the movies are quite bad and forgettable as is sadly too common with Russian movies.
Fx3 body was good ....try on A7ii -iii you won't get this quality and looks 😶 depends on your camera body and lens how much you try to grade like pro you won't get this quality.
I’ll be honest, quickly fell into the hands of “runningoutoffootage syndrome” and tried to make the best of whatever non-storytelling b-roll I had. Thank you for boosting the video nonetheless! :))
Was not expecting to see lex while researching this lens haha good stuff
This is also a great taking lens for anamorphic adapters. Using a 44M-4 with a Schneider Super Cinelux 2.0. Nothing fake about it.
Might need to check out vintage adapters eventually, but the mounting solution just seems overly complicated. I guess a 15mm LWS system would be the way to go
Does using an anamorphic vintage adapter mean that you have to focus both lenses? Or do you set one to infinity and only focus the adapter?
The colors from the Helios are insane!
I’m gonna attribute the colors to the sensor of the FX3 tolerating wrong white balance settings but the Helios does give it a unique look!!
@@kaichuuuuuu Great comment. Mine was way too generic. The behind the scenes of that comment was that I have the Helios 2/55 and my camera made much better colors using it rather than the kit lens.
I never noticed the blue flares from anamophic lenses until I got into cinematography.

I’m gonna need to check that! As I said I think it goes away after a bit but that might just be me getting used to the resistance ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Ran into same issue on other Russian lenses. Easy fix when mounting it to the adapter.
I made a modification to mine to keep the auto focus mode pin from dropping.
amazing video and overall quality ! keep going man :)
Thank you! Will keep going for sure
The best Helios lens for me 😍

Nice info🎉
Incredible dude !!!!
Can you recommend a lens similar to the Kodak 2383lut, maybe the color of the film?
Your from Lexington!? Recognized these shots immediately
I am not, but these shots were taken in Lex!
Very nice video my dude ❤️
Great share and i have Helios 44-2 58mm f2
Hey thats me:D very naice!
Do some modeling damn

Great vid 💯

Which adapter do you use for the lens please?
Mine has no brand name but any M42>NEX adapter will work
I'm wondering, are you using any luts or film simulations? If not what did you do for color?

I bought the same modded lens about 2 weeks ago. Im still waiting on it since its being shipped from Ukraine but I'm really pumped to use it!
have you received it yet? or still waiting

Well sweet man, glad you got it, and hope it all works great ! Planning to get one in the future too

@@visualfocusphotographymedi100 nice!
I didn't really understood how you put the anamorfake mode ? I also have an Helios 44M-4 but never heard about that aha !

i am guessing there is no auto focus with this lens..... how did you manage to nail focus constantly in those clips?
Nope, completely manual. Focus peaking and practice mostly, but I still have a long way to go

minolta mc rokkor-pf 58mm f1.4 < This lens is Great as well. :)

How come the golden bokeh balls don't have a line in the middle?
That was probably because the light wasn't intense enough. They need to be a certain brightness directly into the sensor to create flares
Miss filter? What?
Mechanical keyboard algorithm dude, spare it, Schn00b

Almost all Helios come from Ukraine and due to the situation take over a month to arrive.i have 5,, so yeah, I hate that. Buy lensbaby instead,
Started off good, then the footage in the coffee shop, park, library... well, it just sucks, lol

Have you ever heard of this thing called "kindness?" You should give it a shot, it's all the rage these days ;)
