Yep, we're back at it. 2024 was an incredibly busy year, and the video production suffered, but we have alot of footage that we'll be sharing this year. Happy New Year!

Follow up question; were you satisfied with the condition of the trim tab located at the bottom of the anti-cavitation plate of the lower unit? If I am not mistaken, and often I am, they are also made out of sacrificial zinc. It looked pretty pitted to me which was surprising in that the engine looked very new. At what point would you replace it. And, if you replace it how do you make sure the new trim tab is set in the same position so the boat tracks straight?
All the zincs below the water line were bad shot. I ended up replacing anodes all over except the block anodes. I neglected to film that part, which was a bummer when I was editing and realized I left that out. Generally speaking, I replace the gear case anode and bracket anode on the typical 100 hr interval unless they look perfect or the owner declines. I set the trim tab anode at dead zero, on all boats with hydraulic steering or cable / non feedback steering. If its an older cable system that allows feed back and the helm is catching torque feedback off the prop, then I'll set the anode slightly off center either to port or starboard depending on if motor is standard rotation or counter rotation
hi Tyler great video, just about to install new xb115s just wondering on that fuel line would you of run it under neath those control cables instead of on top ? seems like you were thinking about that ?
I felt like the routing on that hose was off, the hose has pre-formed bends in it with a old school slightly oversized hose clamp... all the angles were off, odd, especially for Maverick, their attention to detail when I work in a Maverick/Yamaha dealership was always impeccable. The way it was sitting just looked weird, especially that it was fully coming into contact with the control cables, had the look of a half assed repower. That said, the motor was still under warranty so I put a couple zip ties here and there to keep the hose off the control cables and let it ride. My dealership days are long behind me, but when I was there, I apprenticed with a couple of insanely talented and methodical Yamaha Master Tech's. I would not have gotten away with routing a hose like that.
