I have so many devices and never cracked or broken any. It’s not that hard just take care of them. Knowing he got the lot for free the person that used these devices probably are not interested into the tech space.
The ultrasonic cleaner that Rossmann recommends (I think he even sells it occasionally on his online store) can often single-handedly fix water damaged MacBooks with no further board repair depending on the extent of the damage. I’d highly recommend picking one up, it’s been a complete game changer at the repair shop I work at.
In my 22 years of life the ONLY device I’ve ever broken was my first 3DS, which fell out of my pocket and was promptly run over once. I find it hard to imagine someone breaking this many devices, like how does that even happen
I managed to crack my Huawei P8's screen back in the day by accidentally dropping it. To me, its design has been so slick and perfect that I had stopped using a case about two years prior to that. In my eyes it would have been a shame to hide such a beautifully designed device in a thick, ugly rubber case 😅 Long story short: Shit happens, bought a new screen for about 50€, replaced the cracked one and continued using phone for almost three more years (still w/o case)🙂
I only ever damaged (not broke) 2 devices in my life in which I’ve owned a couple hundred devices which were a 2017 iPad 5th gen charging port and I put a small hairline crack in the bezel on my iPhone 13
I've found a 2009 macbook pro at a dump. It was thrown away due to 1 bad drive and water damage. I removed the corrosion and thankfully the motherboard works completely fine. The DVD slot was replaced for a secondary drive and it was an SSD. That SSD was working fine but then it suddenly just gave up fully so the water most likely did it's job there. I replaced both the drives and it works very well! even the original battery is in very good condition, 86% health left according to numerous battery testing apps.
I got a 15” 2009 MacBook Pro on eBay for $40. Works besides the sleep sensor always being active. I just unplugged it and the laptop is fully usable(it’s also missing the hard drive screws)
i got a 2017 macbook pro (black) for free but the screen didn’t work when i went dumpster driving again i found a mac studio with a cracked screen i fixed the screen and now i’m using it it’s not bad at all

I said downgrade... You make apple servers believe that you ar in iOS 6... But you aren't. Then itunes/ipad tries to upgrade from there, as I said first to iOS 9, and then to the latest
fun fact the 2015 and 2017 i7 macbook air use the same CPU, and are therefore pretty much identical machines. overall you got yourself a nice lil macbook there, as long as you can fix it. that board has quite a bit of corrosion but most of it should brush away. You'll need to replace the lcd connector and maybe other components in the backlight circuit, I look forward to when you'll get around to it. Thanks for the video
I'm watching your video on my mid 2015 MacBook Pro. The MacBook travelled several times around the world, I'm using it many hours every day but it still looks brand new: no scratches, everything works flawless... I never dropped or scratched one of my many iPhones. I will never understand why people do not take better care of items worth hundreds or even thousands of $$$...
There needs to be a psychological study on 2 groups of people: the ones who’s new phone screen is ALWAYS smashed within the first month and the ones, who’s phones look like new 10 years later. It can’t just be carelessness and always makes me a bit sad to see so many shattered displays 😢
I never had a smashed display. Every iphone i had was in perfect almost new condition. Currently using the 12 for a few months which doesn't even have a single scratch. My apple watch series 3 is still in perfect condition, but has to be replaced soon as the display is now too smal for my fingers and its staring to get very slow.
Just found an iPhone XR on the side of the road earlier today during a walk of mine. I was inspired by this channel to fix it. It was covered in ice and was clearly run over a few times... Currently I've been able to get the screen to light up and connect to 3Utools on a PC, looking to see if I can find the original owner.
If there is a sim then try that in a different phone to see if any contacts are saved to it and you can find out the number of that sim and then call or text it to see if the owner got a new sim with the same number.
if pin #1 and #2 are shortened out by the water damage, it will probably result in 50V went directly to CPU and frying it off. Very known problem with MacBook's. It is even recommended to take a new MacBook that you just bought from an Apple to a technician, to put a water protecting coating in this connector and few other places.
Crazy how some people just don’t take care of their stuff. I have an old MacBook Air I bought back in 2013 that’s in perfect condition. My old iPhone 4S that’s still in great shape, as well as an iPad, Apple Watch Series 1, all working. Only device I’ve broken was my iPhone 6 that my daughter dropped on the floor at target years ago. It’s really easy to not destroy every thing you own; I don’t even run cases on my phone anymore.
I can help you out, with the apple watch! I do LCD refurbish myself, changing the glass and removing touch, I can apply a new glass with touch, and have a brand new watch
I don't understand how do you end up smashing all of your devices just like that. I've been using the same MacBook for almost 9 years now. And I haven't repaired it even once. Well, it does need it's battery changed, but otherwise it is perfectly fine. And I've also had several Samsung phones, which I've used for 5-6 years each.
Issue with the Power book is that the backlight high voltage pin in the display connector is just next to a pin that goes directly to the processor and sometimes i this cases it kills the computer for ever.
Hugh many RUclips Videos are there how to Fix the Macbook.... It's basically cleaning and testing for shorts etc. You can do it. Life is Learning and getting better and better.
Yeah, I know this is a year old. I was at a rummage sale a year ago and found a new "Artisan Leather ipad 2 cover with bluetooth keyboard." It was a nice looking thing in its box never used for $5. I nabbed an ipad 2 for $10 on ebay needing a digitizer. Nabbed the digitizer for $11 and did all that nasty glass removal. Now I have a super slow ipad that looks like a leather laptop with no touch pad. You can of course touch the screen but that makes it fall down. But you know, it wasn't the destination but the trip. and I'm proud that thanks to you tube, I didn't hurt the wifi antenna. I guess it is more like a trophy. Useless but something I like to look at.

Oh yeah, I have a old laptop and it's bulky enough to be used for violence. I dropped it on my toe and my toe broke while the laptop survived. It's also what I call a frankenlaptop because it's ourely made from salvaged parts

Also, to answer your question in the title: no, you didn't get anything good. You got a box full of Apple products.
one thing I would try for the MacBook airs is soaking the motherboard in isopropyl alcohol for a while and using a toothbrush to get rid of the corrosion
With how Apple insists on having the high-voltage backlight trace on the display connector right next to signal lines to the CPU/GPU instead of a ground, there's a good chance that the IGP in that MacBook Air is also fried. So sad how Apple is basically the king of e-waste at this point.

Hey Hugh, I didn’t know how else to contact you but I have a quite serious question, my mums Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra is being weird just lately, crashes/freezes/lags/warms up really quick and battery drains really quick, so one of the things I tried doing is going into the phones boot-loader to clear the system cache and run some tests from there, but I can’t actually get into the bootloader! When I power the phone off, I’ve tried the volume up and power button together, the volume down and power button together and also both volume buttons and the power button together but I can’t get into it, do you mind if you could look into this and try yourself because honestly the S22 ultras system is so weird!
Hi if it’s still not too late. With the newer Samsung phones you can’t get into the boot loader without connecting to a laptop with your usb c cable first. I’m not sure about software needed but do a quick google search along lines of “s22 boot loader plug in laptop?”

I managed to repair my LG G3 that startet going crazy after water damage by soaking the motherboard in toilet detergent, washing it with a toothbrush and generously rinsing with warm tap water. I let it dry overnight and the phone came back to life. I don't recommend this method but it has a chance to save this MacBook. Ps. The phone is still alive to this day
