I love the way that Lingyi shows his love for Shiyi. She really lucked out when she married him. It's a shame that Erniang brings nothing but trouble when she arrives. Her hatred for Shiyi knows no bounds. She's so miserable/now she wants everyone around her to be just as miserable. I really can't stand her. She's really trying to cause problems for Shiyi/Lingyi. I'm so happy that he didn't show his true feelings after knowing the truth. Unfortunately Erniang got it wrong...the marriage that Shiyi was trying to run away from at the time was with her late husband. During this time Erniang set it up so that Shiyi would be married into that family by pretending to be Shiyi while seducing her psychotic late husband. It wasn't until after Shiyi's mother died/she found out that Erniang's little trick indirectly got her mother killed. Once she found out what Erniang did to her...she turned the tables on her/ended up marrying the Marquis.
I love Shiyi's honesty with him. She didn't try to hide or make excuses. My heart really breaks for Lingyi. He doesn't know what to think. He loves his wife but he's not sure if she loves him too.
It's strange that Shiyi admits that she was trying to run away from the marriage with Lingyi. Maybe it was bad translation, but it's as you said, she was running away from the other guy Erniang was supposed to marry and then got swap back after her failed attempt. Though Shiyi never wanted marriage with Lingyi, she never ran away from it either. Their troubled marriage made sense without that hole in the script.
@@axeisthill5386 she had decided to run away from her marriage....it didn't matter who the groom was...she wasn't planning on sticking around...that's why she admitted that she was trying to run away from him...but at the time madam Luo was going to marry her off to that abusive ass...until Shiyi exposed Erniang's scheme. There was no way that Shiyi was going to marry any of the potential grooms to help benefit the Luo family after they kicked her/her mother out of the family/left them living in destitute. She agreed to marry Lingyi because she thought someone from the Xu family killed her mother. In the end that was the best decision she made...because she got a wonderful husband that loved her.
@@shontelagrone8713 I guess that makes sense. It bothered me at first mainly because he took it personally when she didn't reject him or failed to trust him because of him, but because of everything else and she didn't explain that. Then again it would have been hard to explain that she married him only to find her mother's killer, not because she wanted to, but at least that would be reasonable for him to understandable, and he can't get mad at her over that since he similarly married her not because of her.
@@axeisthill5386 true...they both entered the major with a hidden agenda. She wanted to find her mother's killer/he wanted to honor the promise he made to his late wife....although I think Lingyi wasn't that reluctant to marry her...he actually smiled on their wedding day when he picked her up....plus their conversation on the docks when she scolded him about being unfaithful...lol he was intrigued by her at that point...even General Fu saw how special she was during that encounter. They married each other with ulterior motives but they ended up finding their soulmate.
