Thanks buddy just finished mine tonight, the bike would run but missing a cylinder changed all 4 and now runs great. For anyone wondering you dont have to take the tank off, I just unscrewed the 2 bolts then propped it up with a big breaker bar. Peace
Good video. My only feedback would be to dump the music on "How To" videos. It distracts from what you're saying, and really adds nothing to the instructional aspect of the video. Otherwise, good job. :)
Appreciate ur time making the video..tryin not use background music while talking.. it's not to bad though.. N tryin use some lights so we can see what talking about.. overall great How To video.. thumbs up
Are the new plugs supposed to look like the ones we take out in the sense of that threaded tip part? Because the plugs I bought for my 04 (NGK CR10EIX) have a cap thing on the tip... Wish I could post pics
great job bro...really great with step by step instructions...I'm with every1 else...music bad idea. lol...what were the plugs?...watching on a samsung s8 with cracked screen...couldnt read...plug or hear what the gap could be
Awesome video bro! You just saved me HUNDREDS from having this work done at the dealership. Just a little constructive criticism..... wearing a headlamp to light up what it is that you are looking at next time, might brighten things up for the viewer as to what you are describing. Question..... Did you check the gap on the plugs before installing them, just be sure they were set right?
Thanks for the suggestion! I did not check the gap, just bought the plugs that were a specific fit for the bike and had the recommended gap...I had no prior knowledge to check them. From what I've learned, it may be a good idea to confirm the gap is where its supposed to be.
A K&N recharge kit is fairly inexpensive and will last you a long time for all of your filters. Comes with good filter detergent and an aerosol oil that helps you to not "over oil".
That lid u have to pull off to get to the coils and spark plugs,... my lid is blocked my alot of cables and idk how to pull it out without messing up the cable set up
I had the same issue. There are 2 plastic clips that you basically have to brake. They are like push pins for car panels. You wont get them out in one piece. Then there are two more like that that hold the wires into that plastic guard. I just did this job. My plugs looked great at 20 k miles
I just recently order the K&N filter. Is there a reason why you didnt cut out that little rubber circle thing on the filter. The instructions say that i need to do that.
That plastic cover is held on by 2 tabs. Whoever worked on your bike before probably broke them, or just didn't put them back. ( the cover directly over the coils )
My R6 has been sitting for almost 3 years. Last time I wrote it I had changed all the spark plugs and coils and got a new battery. Do you think I would be all right with just changing my oil and oil filter and charge my battery to start running it?
Heck no you gonna need to clean the gas tank. Use apple cider vinegar to clean it. There are videos on youtube on how to do it. Everything else you did is cool but clean out that gas tank
3 years is nothing for a fuel injected bike. Use starting fluid sprayed up its nose if you have to, but you probably won't. Top it up with clean gas, and expect it to run better once the old gas has been run through it. If it is an '02 or older carbureted bike, then you need to clean the carbs out and if that doesn't work, disassemble the fuel pump and petcock, clean them, and put them back in with fresh gas.
I figured I would have to drain the gas tank and put new gas in. I still haven't gotten around to working on it yet I recently bought an 07 GSXR 1000 so I've been riding that but I would still like to get my R6 running
I like the video but can you re upload it with no music!! Please instructions are the reason we come to see the video and I can barely hear them I have to put the volume all the way up. This is one of the only videos that goes in depth
The plugs to use are listed on the sticker in the tail section of the bike, in the owner's manual, and the service manual (both of which are available online for free). Depends on the year, but CR10EK for '03-'05 or CR09EK if you are not running it hard.
This video sucks. 1 - you started in the middle. How does someone remove the tank? Do they have to drain it? Etc. 2 - You have no light. “Hey see these spark plugs in this black abyss? See thru this shadow; that’s a coil.” Yeah we can all see down this dark hole. Smh

New guy question. Do you need to drain the fuel out of the tank before you remove it?
My feedback would be to use a torch so we can see in there

Thanks for the great video brotha

What was the gap you set on your plugs? My R6 didn't come with a service manual and I can't find the spec anywhere
Are the spark plugs located underneath the coils ?

Thank you.
F*** that plate!!! Doesn’t like to go back in
Do you have to remove the fuel first?
That lid u have to pull off to get to the coils and spark plugs,... my lid is blocked my alot of cables and idk how to pull it out without messing up the cable set up

Now would you know if the r6s models look the same under the tank as to what it looks like here in this video?
Yes. Same bike, basically.
I just recently order the K&N filter. Is there a reason why you didnt cut out that little rubber circle thing on the filter. The instructions say that i need to do that.
Good job even better edit the music
Those denso coils on the 03 r6 were a nightmare
You're working on your bike in your house I did that thirty years ago
If I'm gonna replace the 4 of them. Does it matter the order to put the new in?. Thank you for sharing
Nope, The order does not matter!
any knowledge on replacing ignition coil's same year and make
Whats up bro. Im in Massillon, Ohio. Got a 2003 R1 myself. Where you located?
Currently in Akron!
A little flashlight would have helped the presentation a lot.
How do you know if the spark plugs are the problem? Also how do u check to see if they are (bad / loose)
If your bike is old bro, just do a full maintenance to save yourself the tick for tat guessing
That plastic cover is held on by 2 tabs. Whoever worked on your bike before probably broke them, or just didn't put them back. ( the cover directly over the coils )
There is also 2 more push pins that hold the wires to the plastic piece. That plastic plate is the worst part of the whole job
Your music is to loud bud its hard to hear your voice
Nice video but you gotta have music much quieter

seems like alot of work, this terrifies me as a newbie. I've usually changed the oil on my bike myself but thats pretty much it.
Hey man, so if I changed my exhaust and the rev idle stopped working or went crazy, what I need to do to fix it?
@roadkill serna mines doing same. gota change all that
I like the video but can you re upload it with no music!! Please instructions are the reason we come to see the video and I can barely hear them I have to put the volume all the way up. This is one of the only videos that goes in depth
bro you never said what spark plugs you mounting.
ngk plugs for life!!!!!!!

I can’t see!
Heat video but I just cant see
I can't get my plate out
Long Live check for zip ties
I have done this before. The hardest thing I remember was getting the plate out and connecting the tubes back on to the air box
This video sucks.
