Ingredients:
• 1 cup grapefruit juice
• 1 cup club soda
• 1/2 small jalapeño
• 1 teaspoon lime juice
• Ice
Instructions: Mix grapefruit juice, lime juice and club soda in a glass. Add ice. Garnish with 2-5 jalapeño slices, stir and serve.

Yeah... those are WAY more predatory than HELOCs or ARMs.
In my area, use of reverse mortgages has increased 30+% since 2020. I think that is because older folks are struggling with inflationary pressures and insufficient Social Security payments. It's an awful shame.
Can’t believe Timeshares didn’t make the bracket. Seems like Ramsey went through a phase of harping on this issue.

Payday loan for sure. It’s like living paycheck to paycheck with paychecks you haven’t even received. With 300 percent interest.
Yeah and the cherry on top is that there’s no rationalization a lender can make. It’s a product designed to put and keep poor people in a debt spiral.

To be fair, crypto is a product that you buy and physically own.

I/m surprised no one mentioned that Student Loan are *not* dischargeable in bankruptcy. In my view, tht's the biggest factor in mking them predatory. You're stuck with them for life!

Ive had internet since I was born. When I read about the history of it, and read about how majority of people didn't think it would catch on, didnt understand it, and didnt see the point of it, it really explains how the majority dont understand tokenization/crypto/blockchain. Fascinating to see it playing out in real time.

HELOCs are an incredibly useful financial tool in the right context. Its cheap, flexible debt that's accessible on a moment's notice. Case in point -- I just used it as a bridge loan to buy a truck. I had funds to pay for the truck in investments, but wasn't exactly sure WHEN I'd find the right truck. I'm not going to pull that money out of investments and have it sit in cash for months on end while I wait (possibly indefinitely) to find the right truck.
So I keep the money working for me in investments. Then I found my truck -- super great price, and there were 2 other buyers lined up to buy it. I used my HELOC to pull cash out and pay for the truck right then and there. Then over the next week or so I sold off my investments, and used that to pay off the HELOC.
It's an amazing tool. Is a chainsaw predatory because it can cut you? No. It will only cut you if you misuse it. The same goes for financial tools.

Also, they’re wrong on student loans vs credit cards. Credit cards charge 22% student loans charge 4%. Even if there’s 0 ROI on the degree the interest rate makes it a no brainer
Yeah, but they give $100000+ student loans to 18 year olds. And you can't default on them and have them drop off your record. For those reasons alone student loans win.
I particularly enjoyed this episode. I liked that you took a bunch of concepts and compared them with each other thoughtfully. Sitting at home, I had to think about the comparisons too. I would love to see you do the same for other things. I think it is a very powerful approach.
Could you do the same for investing, for example? Real estate versus REITS, individual stocks versus mutual funds, mutual funds versus ETFs, stocks versus bonds, financial investments versus gold/silver, classic cars versus paintings, cans of beans versus bags of rice (just kidding), etc.
I just realized that I'm a George with my friends lol So much fun with this podcastttt
