Frank The Pizza King in Englewood has been around since 1963, I believe. The original owners moved here from Italy and opened this easy to get to location. Definitely a place to check out. My favorite is the combination, which is mushroom and their homemade Italian sausage.
my best friend at the time was the gm at the one on evans.. that was a blast of a place. i cooked there when needed. he said I had the best oven skills for the wood fired pie.
Hops and Pie has excellent pizza. It's a little pricey since they charge by toppings, but I like being able to build my own. I usually order a large with bacon, chorizo, mushrooms, onions, pepperoni, sausage, and extra cheese and meat. It's one of the best tasting pizzas I've ever had.
Came here to recommend Hops and Pie. Not sure if they still do it, but they had a chicken and waffle pizza as the "pie of the month" a few times and it was awesome! Everything they do is great!
We are truly blessed to have such a great selection. I actually knew Clyde Canino, who opened the first pizzeria in Denver back in the fifties, I think at least one of his boys is still in the restaurant biz in Denver. You did not mention my two favs, but you did at least find some NY and some Neapoltan. I thought the pie at Dough Counter looked awful, but then again I wasn't there. 🙂
Also, you gotta try The Pie Hole on Broadway and Benny Blancos (recently moved to Arvada but their cap hill location was a staple for over half of my life)
I moved here from the Midwest 7 years ago and I have never found genuine Chicago tavern style pizza anywhere in my area, trust me, I've tried it all and I have craved it since I moved out of the Midwest. I learned how to make my own and let me say I was in Heaven when I bit into my first piece. We don't buy pizza anywhere in Colorado anymore after I learned how to make the original tavern style pizza the Midwest way. If you really want the true pizza I show you how to make it...very easy and soooooo satisfyingly delicious my friend. Don't get me wrong, we've had some good pizza in Colorado but nothing compares to back home Chicago tavern style pizza from the Midwest🙂
Love your videos! Went to Wings & Burgers for a birthday and celebrated our anniversary at Jax, all based on your reviews!!! Must try the 49th!!! New location at Prince & Santa Fe. Highly recommend the crab dip to start and getting the Kodiak burger! Chef’s kiss!💋
Subscribed cuz I love pizza. It's my absolute favorite. So thank you for this amazing video and I love your content. And yes, pizza opinions are super subjective, but I measure pizza on what is a true NY style (some of what you tried today is artisanal like Cart Driver and Marcos) and consistency. Can I expect the same pizza on multiple visits? That said, I think location matters. For example, Blue Pan has several spots and I think they differ. I would recommend the one in Highlands on 32nd. They're great, delcious and provide great service. By my own standards, not true NY style pizza, but an amazing combination of dough, sauce and cheese. As for a place to try, I'd suggest Sexy Pizza (location matters) in Jefferson Park. Great chew in the dough, balance between sauce and cheese and very few bubbles in the bake. It's my goto pizza place for sure. But again, just an opinion and super thankful for you sharing yours! Love the content!
Denver and pizza have zero business being mentioned in the same sentence. 10yrs ago there was some fantastic “Greek style” pizza places, but they’ve since closed down. “Papous” was the BEST. My folks moved us to Colorado in ‘91 from the Hartford Connecticut area…it’s nearly impossible to find “good pizza” in Colorado. At least as far as east coast pizza goes. Marquis pizza made a good NY slice after/during a concert but I haven’t been downtown in 10yrs. No longer my scene but you should try it on a busy night at the marquis theater.
Great video sir! My favorite pizza joint is a place I think you have reviewed. It's Totally 80's Pizza in Fort Collins. I'm an 80's kid and love to remember stuff from my childhood.
I think Beau Jo's is very interesting. I like the big puffy crust and honey, but just not in my top tier list. Everyone's list is different though, for sure!
@@milehighfooddude Beau Jo's isn't really even pizza, more bread with stuff on it. I was super disappointed when I first tried it in Idaho Springs in the 70's and I live in FC now where we have a Beau Jo's in town, tried it, still awful.
Blue pan is AMAZING! But it literally gives me straight water 💩 every time I eat it. (and I am far from lactose intolerant) I have to make sure nothing is happening the night of the day when I eat it. I have tested this several times and like clock work it hits me that way every time. I work 5 min away and have given it several chances 😂😂😂
to do an accurate review. you should do the same " normal pizza " that the everyday person would order. like mabe a pepperoni pizza. not this bull shit like, honey bbq. changing styles and toppings does not make a place better. in fact, marcos really sucks.....
Wasn't a review since I've been to these places. This is my top 5 favorites list and I love exploring the different styles and flavors. Not gonna eat pepperoni 5 times in a row. Thanks though
you lost me at marcos.. prob the most overrated pizza in all of denver. on par with anything that frank bononno has done.. also a terrible restaurant guy. again, just my opinion..

The last time I had them, their crust was like biting theough and tasting cardboard.
He is definitely *NOT* the Pizza King.
Woody's Wood Fired Pizza in Golden is definitely in the top three pizza places in the Denver area.

I'll definitely check out Pie Hole. Really liked Benny Blancos
Love the neighborhood vibe of Esthers, haven't tried the others but put them on my list. You should try Stefanos Brookyln pizza off Arap & I25
If you like spicy pizza you gotta try Dion’s 505 pizza! Pepperoni and Green Chili it’s sooooo good.
I'll definitely check it out!!

Very cool🙌🙌
I make my own too. I have a Fontana Firenza pizza oven in my back yard. But I still like to try pizza from different places.
I love the little pepperoni cups too 😍 yummy
the best!! so crispy and greasy lol
No Fat Sully’s??????!!!!!
@@dorianvick8932 I think I'll do a best slice video soon
@@milehighfooddude Sounds good! Good on you for bringing positive light to the Denver Metro Food Scene!
Fat sullys is over priced and mid IMO. Its great “im drunk” pizza but if we’re on Broadway I’ll choose the pie hole over fat sullys every time

Good stuff! Didn't love sexy pizza when I tried it but I'll give it another shot

Did a review a while back. It was good but not great really loved the atmosphere
I think Pizzeria Lui should make the list.
Great spot but not in Denver specifically. I'll add it to a general list though because it's really good
You should check out LuBo’s off of Parker and orchard.
Okay but really.. Is it a top CO pizza list with out THE Colorado pizza chain Beau Jo's?! I think not 🫣😉
I think Beau Jo's is very interesting. I like the big puffy crust and honey, but just not in my top tier list. Everyone's list is different though, for sure!

You have to get the Detroit style pizza at blue pan
Throw Carmella's on your list for future pizza tastings... New joint in North Denver (Northfield). Try the MoneyBall.
I'll definitely check it out🙌🙌🙌
If you can tell me the name of esters before it was esters, then you the man
Try pizzeria Lui!
