  • Roger Miller performs "King Of The Road" live at the Farm Aid concert in Austin, Texas on July 4, 1986. Farm Aid was started by Willie Nelson, Neil Young and John Mellencamp in 1985 to keep family farmers on the land and has worked since then to make sure everyone has access to good food from family farmers. Dave Matthews joined Farm Aid's board of directors in 2001.

He grew up very poor on a remote southwest Oklahoma farm. His father died when he was young and he served in Korea. He was not a person of great self discipline, but he earned it.

First song I sang as a kid. My parents thought it was great. LOL. They were, after all, my parents.

Me too. My dad would put in an 8 track, on our ride home from grandma's house. We would sing along. Good times.

Oui. C'est la beauté de la musique country américaine classique. Il ne se prend pas trop au sérieux, mais dans sa simplicité et son humour, c'est en soi une œuvre d'art.
Yes. That's the beauty of classic American country music. It doesn't take itself too seriously, but in its own simplicity and self-deprecating humor, it's a work of art in and of itself.
