Poor dude. This seems like a fate worse than death. I can’t imagine waking up every morning and trying to go about each day with a brain that damaged, unable to see, confused, and confined to a wheelchair.
And not being able to communicate. Maybe they leave a radio with music on next to the guy, but he hates that channel. He would rather listen to Big Bang Theory episodes or Science lectures, but how does he let them know?
@E M yeah. I bet that’s absolutely humiliating for him. And having to live through that pain and humiliation for the rest of his life all because he just wanted to belong to a group that was supposed to have his back. To take care of him, and to look out for him. That’s what brothers are supposed to do. This whole thing makes me emotional because it’s so tragic.
@@ChileNM758 I literally was saying the same thing, I agree. People should also start thinking for themselves. Poor kid was so young though he probably just wanted to fit in or be "cool" like kids that age do.
Agree. I dont know why they decided to bring him back to life. They knew he would have brain injury
@ItsA CruelWorld NotSafe forKids. HavingKidsIsWrong without knowing the specifics of his condition at this moment and the prognosis on his outlook for life, and strictly going off what has been reported, I would have to agree with you. As much as the family is willing to care for him and want him alive, it sounds like they should probably let Danny fly free on up to heaven. Give him a shot of adrenaline like in the movie Million Dollar Baby and let him rest.
I was a freshman at Mizzou when this occurred. I really wish the university would have done more to hold the students responsible for their actions. Everyone sat around this past year wondering who this was and what happened to them. It's devastating to know this is the full story. You don't need to be a part of greek life to be social in college. The toxic behavior just isn't worth it. I had a wonderful freshman year full of friends and memories without a frat. I'm so sorry this changed your life Danny. I'm so embarrassed to be at Mizzou
If this happens to my kid I want those kids life in return no amount of jail time will do it for me I want those kids parents to feel what’s it’s like to lose a child .
You could have done something! Part of this is your fault.

Its what us men do, stop being a woke feminisit by ruining our ritual.

As a university of missouri student, fiji and these brothers need to be held accountable not only legally but BY THE UNIVERSITY. this situation is absolutely sickening and unacceptable. they knew exactly what they were doing and now get to continue their lives and education like nothing happened. danny does not.
We’ve been trying to warn you about fraternity boys for years and years. And you said “not all men”.
They better go back decades tons of our upstanding citizens will be jailed!!! Thank goodness this family is bringing awareness to this.

For what? I don't see them forcing him to drink anything. There has to be some personal accountability here by the family that there son was a moron.
I don’t even know why these fraternity organizations even exist anymore, who tf needs them? I graduated in 2019 and felt ZERO desire to join in those four years, it’s so fucking stupid.
This literally made me cry. I can’t believe this is actually legal as an “initiating” of a fraternity. This is horrifying and unacceptable. I found some relief though when I heard that the suspects are being sued and jailed soon. They should be jailed for life. It is despicable that someone would do this just to be part of a “pack”. Hopefully, this family gets justice.
Well if they didn't force him to drink and if they didn't have any ill intent .
And the individuals who are above age 21 have already been charged with given him alcohol so how is that not justice.
Hazing is not legal in most states. And even if it were, frats can get in major trouble if they’re found participating in such acts.
It is not legal. The issue is lack of law enforcement.
I cannot agree with the jailed for life part. Danny was a willing participant and was the person most responsible for his own injuries. At multiple times, Danny could have said no. It is not like the frat guys took Danny by force and forced him to participate.
@@jakemccoy I totally agree
Blind, can’t speak, can’t walk… I wouldn’t want to keep living. That’s terrible
He probably wants to die, but he cannot tell them that because he has no way of communicating. I know I would. He's literally going to be trapped in a lifeless body for the next 60+ years in complete darkness, unable to do anything that brings him joy, just waiting for death. It's a fate worse than death, worse than life in prison. I wouldn't wish this on anyone, and keeping him alive through it all is just incredibly cruel. He needs to be laid to rest and be at peace.
He lost everything but an actual existence. He lost his life, his freedom, his skills, his independence. Everything. The family seems absolutely lovely and I'm positive that he'll receive every kind of care he needs. I hope that he'll be able to feel joy and love and that he'll go against the odds and progress and recover as much as physically possible. He's an innocent victim of something so ridiculously stupid I can't even begin to describe. Ooof, I'm so angry! Hopefully the people responsible will be held accountable. If not, internet will rebel because this has made hundreds of thousands of people really mad.
Who's responsible for this? No one held a gun to Danny's head and forced him to go there. No one forced him to drink. He was never threatened. Danny had every chance to walk away. This was ultimately Danny's choice to be there and go through with this. He could have left at any point. He never tried to leave or even say no. It's such a sad situation but it was Danny's choice. There has to be some personal responsibility. I hope he recovers soon 🙏
@@JB23669he's not going to ever recover! And when you were that drunk and people are egging you on, you are not completely in control of yourself. He was very vulnerable to the peer pressure. I get the feeling that you are one of the guys who made him drink. Furthermore other people were around and could have advised that that is dangerous and could make you die.
This exact thing happened to me back in 2009 when I was a student in a Southern California college. I was made to drink whiskey with some fraternity "brothers" as part of initiation. Last thing I remember was blacking out in a park. When I woke up the next day I was naked on the fraternity couch covered by a blanket. I was laughed at and made to walk back to campus with my soiled clothes in a trash bag. I reported the hazing act and felt so ashamed of myself. A top official for the fraternity came to campus and the organization was shut down for half the school year; no real accountability. I left the college as a result of this. God bless Danny and his family. Those involved need to learn some serious consequences for having no regard for someone's life.
But really, the potential pledgee needs to be aware of what can happen, and just say NO. No amount of accountability and punishment of the frat leaders can do anything to help Danny now.
Let's not pretend this doesn't happen in almost every frat house(and probably sorority house) across America.
It's been happening everywhere as long as fraternities and sororities have existed. Disgusting.
@@valmacclinchy there's no reason for them to exist outside of universities being scared to make donors mad

Exactly
Well said and very true
Parents would be wise to teach their kids to always be alert, because the "friends" they make in college, especially frat "brothers" or soro "sisters", are likely to abandon them and do nothing to protect them from serious injury or death. Parents would also do well to teach their kids to be on the lookout for someone who is impaired to help them immediately, perhaps save their life. Peers should not be setting the standard for how an individual acts. The kids that have that maturity probably just stay away from the greek b.s. in the first place.
Some of them will simply drop out of college and go do other stuffs. Not all of them will graduate anyways!
Those fraternities do some nasty perverted things they need to be BANNED
FACTS!!
This is the American college culture, even if you take away the frats, the parties and drinking till you blackout will continue to happen. I’m not saying you’re wrong/right, but banning a frat doesn’t mean these death/injured by alcohol is going to stop.
@@ceejezzyes06 bro you misses the entire point then. The problem isn’t with drinking. The problem is these little boys being forced by other little boys to drink hard liquor bottles fast and face consequences if they don’t. The problem is frats hazing; not the alcohol they’re using to haze

I feel so sorry for what's happened to this boy's and to his family, life can be very unpredictable. As an international student myself these fraternities and sororities are probably the stupidest things I've witnessed during my college life in the US, no mean to offend at all. I had a couple of roommates tell me they had to buy fraternity membership for at least $700 while one of them came from a low income household and would sometimes struggle to buy his own groceries. Last time I checked fraternities and sororities were suspended at my university due to a 21-year passing for the same exact reason as this kid.
@@maplebacon1263 You're right to an extent but he was an adult. I didn't have many friends going to school and yeah we all want to feel like we belong but why do something stupid and dangerous just to belong? He was underage and he knew he was underage. A Poem by Steven F Gooden
We're never as strong, as we are until we have to be. Never Do as much, unless the need we see. Only give our best, when we fail at mediocrity. We Love rather than hate when we admit we're one humanity. We always give more, when compassion moves our heart with unbridled generosity. We Become more of our potential when we are made to see, that clearly our minds can believe in unfathomable possibilities, while seizing every opportunity, here in lies one's destiny. More than our scars, higher than our stars, for in our flaws are what defines our features, they're uniquely ours, as human creatures.
We can run faster than on our slowest day. Reason better, and thinking it through all the way, regardless which direction our emotions may sway. We can find our voice when speechless, our strong words with meekness and our Courage in weakness. Always patience not quickness. Silence for peace than loudness, quietness of fear, not hopeless, for time and effort are equally unbiased. We are more than the stories we're told, we're the one's we write, each page unfold. We are the sum of our Lies and truth, fantasy, fiction, faith, and myths, no matter how uncouth. These are what shape us, our lives lived is the proof. We can be more right than wrong. More just than judge. More godlike than unlike. Reflecting Sunlight in our darkest night.
Providing refuge. Never more alive until we die within and begin again. A Human Ark Divine in our human spark.

I go to Mizzou, and when this incident occurred, there was little info on what happened. They didn't even call Danny out by name originally. We got minimal updates and assumed the worst had happened. I am happy he's alive, but this whole situation is unacceptable. The university needs to get it together and make it a safer place for everyone

That is just sickening, this breaks my heart. I look at his picture from before this and he has the same sweet smile as my son, I can't imagine how I would feel if this happened to my sweet boy. This has to stop! Fraternities can't keep doing these ridiculous drinking "rituals", the bender parties, etc. When I was in college I literally rescued girls from some of these parties where the guys were trying to get them drunk...it's not funny guys!!! And it's not "boys being boys". These two examples are called hazing and rape! The whole pledging system of fraternities and sororities is just organized bullying from what I've seen and I think it is time colleges do away with them. You are there to learn, to meet people, and grow into amazing adults. I hated the pressures I received about drinking, you don't need to drink to be cool or keep friends. I hope these parents win their suit, it's time to hold people accountable!
Frats and hazing seem to be such an American thing. Frats are here too but no "Animal House" thing as far as I know. I never wanted to be a frat bro anyway. Didn't like the attitude of them.
Yup
Get rid of em
The first campus party I went to some guy tried to get me to take drugs and when I asked why, he said, because it's college. It was always so stupid to me but when you're in that environment it's normalized and even a status symbol if you can party harder than anyone else. The thing that needs to change is the mentality of these young people. It's not cool, it's not fun, it's destructive and cruel to be put in that situation for acceptance.

No trifle stripe doest grace this Cloth
Each Band, each strand by blood, no froth
Whilst noblest battles do rage and grow
We stay the course for this we know
No cost for cause tis too much too pay
When freedom cries this too we pray
That men will rise, risk life & Limb
For, Family, Country but most for HIM
It's He who formed us by His Design
So for His Purpose keep this in Mind
All men, no matter how poor or rich
Great or not were equally stitched
Made in His Image, both mind and Soul
To perform His will for the good of the Whole
Kneel not for tyranny, in hate or Jest
Stand up rather, for 2 feet are best
Stand up give Thanks for those who cant
Those who've died to give voice to rant
Ever thankful for your rights by blood
Thus Use it wisely for this they stood
They stood and fell that we might rise
Tis Now our turn, our fight to realize
Freedom's cost tis always born in strife
It's price is life and Sacrifice
Remember and pause for all those before
They were first with less, did more
This Flag we salute, this idea we cling
It's for this idea we stand and sing
For No trifle stripe doest grace this Cloth
Each Band, each strand from blood, not froth
Whilst noblest battles do rage and grow

Mizzou does have an online AlcoholEdu program that incoming students have to take and pass the test at the end of it with a certain percentage (I think it was 75 or 80). They have to take it before they can register for Spring semester courses. I remember taking it my freshmen year and learning some valuable information from it. Unfortunately, some people just breeze through it or don't learn from it until it actually happens. I think that video would be a great add on

The way they outwardly treated peers not in their clique was enough to know they’re not good people. Im following this like a hawk I want to see justice.❤️
Alcohol education is so important and needs to start in high school. Stories like these need to be told. Kids should be made to watch that video of him. People, especially 18 year olds, just cannot comprehend how dangerous alcohol can really be.
Fiji has the worst reputation on every campus in the US. On my campus we know Fiji is the house you don't go to alone. How the organization hasn't been completely disbanded is lost on me.
I’m a rising senior at Mizzou and this is so upsetting. Prayers for the family and him, sick sick stuff they did. All of them should be thrown out of school this is disgusting. So sad.
Girl, upsetting for what? If he hadn’t been made brain dead you’d have probably been one of his victims. Y’all are a trip. 😂 I guess it’s fine until it happens to you though, huh? Lmao.
@@Omnihilo are you ok in the head? “Until it happens to you” you don’t know what has and hasn’t happened to me, you’re projecting. Move around- you’re sick
@@angelicavigil2254 I’m certain that despite being in college you’ll still probably struggle to read this. It’s fine.
*Projection refers to unconsciously taking unwanted emotions or traits you don't like about yourself and attributing them to someone else. A common example is a cheating spouse who suspects their partner is being unfaithful.*
So, in this case that would mean that I don’t want to admit to myself that, in an identical scenario, or in other comment sections, I’m the one praying for potential “reepists” that ended up brain dead. Which, by simply reading my comments, we can infer clearly isn’t true. Because I’m celebrating his incapacitation and lifelong inability to go out and harm anyone else. As fraternity members are known to do, just as they did to him. I’m not praying for him, or anyone like him, which is pretty in line with me and my overall views and behavior. I never would. You are. Saying that I’m projecting, likely because it’s a popular buzzword you’ve heard thrown around before, literally makes zero sense.
*“You don’t know what has or hasn’t happened to me”.* Well, I’d say it’s a fairly safe assumption that you’ve never been r worded by a fraternity member, as my comment implied you hadn’t. And if you have, out of the two of us, you’re definitely a lot more twisted than I am-praying for someone that, statistically, had a very high likelihood of doing to others what was once done to you.
If they do this to each other what do you think they do to the 18 year old girls fresh out of high school? How do you not register the extreme probability that if it hadn’t happened to him he would’ve done it to someone else in the fraternity? That’s what he was there for, that’s the point of these little groups. He didn’t end up in this state by volunteering to feed the kittens at the local animal shelter on the weekends. He ended up in this state because he couldn’t keep up with the predator lifestyle and got got. It’s wild that “higher” education is wasted on people like you when there are billions of people all over the planet that could do so much more with it. Absolutely wild. Well, I’m sure you’re busy putting said education to good use, so I’ll leave you to it. Have a fantastic day, and try not to get attacked while you’re busy praying for monsters.
@@angelicavigil2254 You could have done something, but from observing your channel I see you're a superficial person with all your shopping addiction and make-up, duck-faced selfies! Part of this is your fault and I have subscribed to keep a reminder of your innate nature.
@@Omnihilo bro???
Rich kids and them thinking they're so cool, ends up with not so cool results.
Let's be real here, Danny is just as responsible for what happened to him as the rest of them.
No, he’s a 19yo kid who was peer pressured into a fate that’s actually worse than death. I wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy
Yeah he made a choice to go and fit in. I wonder why he was the only one drunk. It seem everyone else was fine
Why are things like this still happening!? So many hazing horror stories like this
Parents should teach their kids not to pledge to frats & they’ll shut down over time
Very sad. Could’ve been avoided. Peer pressure is terrible and it’s important to know when to say “no” and walk away. It’s just not worth it just to try and fit it or belong. Sometimes these adolescents just want to be accepted. I hope the family gets the justice they seek and young people watching this learn from it.
Exactly you explained it good👍
This is honestly so saddening. What kind of fraternity doesn’t take care of it’s pledges?
Fraternities and sororities can be very toxic. This isn't the first and sadly won't be the last. I'm so sorry their family has to suffer 😔
Yes the kids were wrong and hazing charges should be filed against them but I haven't heard them hold their son accountable for his actions. He knew better.
I'm sorry to this family, my aunt was injured similarly by a doctor's malpractice; I'm sorry for the devastation meted out by people lacking thought and feeling.
Unfortunately this was even happening 40 years ago when I was a Mizzou freshman. I saw it and it's a shame nothing has changed 😕 😔
He will get better.
Hazing has to stop.
This breaks my heart so much. I have an 18 year old son and believe me if someone did this to my kid, they would never see or hear the end of me.
After this incident and then the other anti-Semitic and racist incidents, how does Mizzou still allow Greek life? It’s a drain on the community in Columbia
I don't understand why all fraternities don't just get banned from campus. Donors?
@@adamalbright2020 ur right, must be money related
@@ILoveCello123 I go to mizzou and something like this has happened every year but nothing changes. Frats are way less prominent now than before but they still exist. When I was a freshman joining a frat was the thing to do, now much more mixed emotions across campus
@@adamalbright2020 so sad for the kids and families hurt like that, and for it to continue happening. best of luck to u in your studies, stay safe!!
Turned it about something so random and pulled out from behind.
This is beyond gross all those frat members that were present need to be in jail!!!
He volunteered to do it
Wow this is so sad. still dont get why people dont realize alcohol is POSION
I am Japanese. This case was taken up earlier on the new site in Japan. I think that many Japanese people remembered the drunken accident that happened at Kindai University in Japan in 2017 when a freshman of the circle welcome party died. After that, the secretary and the caretaker were briefly charged with a fine of 500,000 yen, and the bereaved family filed a lawsuit against the university. In the United States, I am very worried about what kind of crimes senior students, including the secretary of this university, will be guilty of. (Use Google Translate)
I never understood why someone would want to join a fraternity. But then again, I'm not gay.
Lol you’d be surprised at how many gay dudes are in frats
@@ChileNM758 I don't think you understood my comment
It’s sad that people are willing to do anything to belong still.
It’s so unfortunate. It’s so important for parents to instill self-esteem in their kids. If you don’t, you get situations like this. I know it’s hard to teach in this society, but you have to try. Not all of us are strong enough to fight peer pressure without any teachings.
IF ONLY DANNY KNEW WHAT HE WAS GETTING INTO. I'M SORRY BUT THIS IS COMPLETELY HIS FAULT.
It’s his fault that he made a mistake by drinking too much? Sad perspective you got there.
I have no idea what Fraternity is but this feels more like a cult. No offence if Fraternity isn't always that bad
I blame his father tbh. Why didn’t his dad teach his son values of being himself, standing tall alone.
Danny decided to try to fit in, no backbone, and unfortunately he made a mistake that cost him his life.
The video footage shows "the victim" holding the beer funnel and drinking it.. and also shows the friends being attentive to him and trying to help him...
These perpetrators deserve life in prison. It’s so disgusting. Praying recovery and miracles for Danny beyond what his doctor's say he can do.
#alcohol poisoning #hazing
Prayers coming out of St. Louis Missouri 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
I cannot believe these reckless behaviors are still going on at fraternities. A young man died in a similar incident when I was a freshman in college, and that was over 25 years ago. At that time there was hardly any coverage and certainly no criminal charges, so hopefully things are changing. My prayers go out to this family. 🙏🏽
Was the student "allegedly hurt" or "allegedly hazed? Pretty sure he was "actually" hurt.
It's a shame this level of hazing still goes on.
That Frat should be banned from campus.
Like cheating, giving alcohol to a minor should be an expellable offense w/ all credits nulled.
It's not worth the effort of pledging. I pray to God he'll get most of his cognitive function back. I have seen miraculous recoveries from very traumatic brain injuries before.
Dam seeing that part of the video seeing him struggle on the sofa to the floor……..why being in a fraternity means so much to people!!!!
If this were bong hits we wouldn't be having this discussion
In general, you're right that weed is less dangerous than booze. Except today's weed, (unless you get regulated stuff or grow your own), could very well be laced with crazy amount of fentanyl or other dangerous crap .
But, yes, GOOD weed indeed a better and safer choice than "good" booze.
@@zyrosqrd2552 weed smokers don't use fentanyl, and if someone laces it without telling is criminal too.
@@ScarCaskt if you buy it on the street or smoke with your dopey college friends who got it from wherever TF they got it, you don't know what you're smoking. Thats my point. People who sell it illegally are not necessarily going to be concerned if it is illegally laced with opioids, other hallucinogens, or anything (and if it passed thru several hands to sell, the person you got it from doesnt know either). Back in the day, you could buy weed in any park in NewYork without worrying about it being tainted. Nobody smokes fentanyl on purpose.
@@zyrosqrd2552 okay you're right alcohol is much safer
Wow at least back "in our day" in the late 80s early 90s we woulda known something wasn't kosher and make a call or bring someone to a hospital.
Now everyone would rather film the destruction instead of help.
The father wants someone else to blame because he didn't properly parent his son. Normal kids with good childhoods don't just go and drink themselves into a coma. Nobody forced him to join a frat
sad but true.
This is sad, but Danny was a willing participant and was the person most responsible for his own injuries. At multiple times, Danny could have said no. It is not like the frat guys took Danny by force and forced him to participate.
Yet there was a case where the girlfriend went to prison because she was texting her boyfriend and coercing him to commit suicide, and so he did. So technically your comment is irrelevant 🙄 He had no idea this would happen to him, so he wasn't a willing participant as much as it seems. He is guilty of trusting others and being naive to say the least.
@@fturner1993 Your comment is expected in a world where everybody thinks the consequences of their decisions are somebody else's fault.
The schools that allow these fraternities and sororities on their campuses should be prosecuted!!! This is pure animalistic behavior!!!
I think the hardest thing is for the kids. It sucks to see your parents suffering. This should have not happened.
Every one of the adults enforcing this “hazing” needs to be held accountable.
Why is this behavior allowed on a college campus??? This is not ok!!!!!! My heart hurts for this family.
Teach your kids to be different NOT to “fit in”.
This is so heartbreaking. I'm an alum member in Phi Mu from Arkansas Tech University. Greek life at ATU has a no hazing policy. We always take quizzes and watch videos about hazing. We do report people who haze, and they most likely will get kicked out of greek life. I have been reading negative comments about greek life. Greek life has both pros and cons. The pros are: lifelong friendships, leadership, study hours,, networking, volunteering, and raising money for our philanthropy. The cons are: paying expensive dues, bad time management, mandatory events, and sadly people who have been hazed. Greek life was time consuming, but it kept me busy, helped me have a good gpa, I met my close friends, cherishing memories for a lifetime,, and I'm a better person. My prayers go out to Danny and his family. 🙏🏽
What weirdos think this is cool
i was a freshman at mizzou at the same time he was. there’s so many problems with that institution. the school has little regard for student safety and wellbeing. i had an especially miserable time as a lesbian woman. i transferred this spring.
The university should be sued also!! take them down, not the first time!! sorry for your son disability, but your son is alive may he make progress. my prayers for the family
Fraternity is just another word for "cult" at this point 😂
Prayers for this boy and his family. Inhuman hazing brought a STOP to the future he hoped for....WHY? Was this
supposed to be entertaining?
Why is this Still Happening???
The Life He Hoped For Is Gone!!
This happens over and over again and it’s always the same scenario. Hazing needs to be doubled down on just as much as anything else at this point because it happens so often and it’s SO PREVENTABLE. How do people know someone is in distress while they are under the influence and then continue to leave them ALONE? That is a recipe of disaster.. and it’s sad that they don’t care enough to know that. This is so sad and I’m so sorry Danny and his family have to go through this.
frats are like gangs. initiations? come on get with the times. after literally thousands of bad things happening by hazing you’d think they would get the hint
