    For me personally, in terms of the sheer impact and influence, I regard Sachin Tendulkar as one of the Top ten sportsman of any kind, any place, any sport of the last 200 years that sports have been officially documented globally. Very few athletes moved their fans to the core, like Sachin did. When he was on the batting crease, for an Indian fan, everything else in life seemed to matter less. Very few athletes had the ability to completely overpower and mesmerize their fans with their charm the way Sachin did. When I have a bad day, I watch an old video of one of his many amazing batting performances and it instantly puts me in a good mood...be it him belting Henry Olonga or butchering the Australian bowling line up in Sharjah.

    I dont think world would ever see a man like tendulkar on the field.
    He was humble, never disrespect anyone ever, never saw him abusing swearing anyone no matter what the situation is, never been into any scandal.
    You will see Lara, Gilchrist, Ponting, Inzamam, Kohli, Kallis, Dravid into ugly argument on field with the bowlers but we never saw Sachin doing any ugly act.
    He was a class and he has his own league !!!
    No one could ever match his character!

    You may disagree with his timidness off the field. His silence about controversial events during his career. His failure as a captain. But you can't disagree about his contribution to the sport of cricket and for making more than a billion people to believe in themselves. His rise was India's rise. Historians will look back and mention unanimously that his career played a pivotal role in driving India to becoming one of the superpowers of the 21st century.

      But tbf Sachin's failure as Captain was mostly the fault of the Board and his own teammates. When Sachin took over Captaincy in 1996-97, most of the Indian players such as Azharuddin, Sidhu, Jadeja, Venkatesh Prasad were in career slump and Azharuddin, Sidu & Jadeja were involved in a full blown match fixing. Other players such as Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid were very young and erratic. More imp in Sachin's Captaincy was plagued by thrown matches such as Sahara Cup 1996, Titan Cup 1996, Singer World Series 1996, Independence Cup 1997, Asia Cup 1997 etc. Azharuddin and Jadeja reportedly threw a number of crucial matches. In fact the entire SA tour of 1996/97 and Australian tour of 1999/00 was fixed. Things came to a flashpoint in the SA tour of Ind in 1999/00 when Hansie Cronje confessed his involvement in Match Fixing. Another imp reason was the constant tinkering by BCCI wrt team selection and management. Barring Sachin, Rahul & Ganguly most players in 90s were injury prone. This was especially problematic when India toured West Indies in 1996/97.

    • @ruturajshiralkar5566
      @ruturajshiralkar5566 Год назад

      What ppl often fail to realize that the success of Azharuddin as a Captain was chiefly a result of Sachin's performance. When Sachin played well, India won the match. In the 90s Sachin was literally the backbone of the team.
      When Sourav Ganguly became Captain, his Success was also the result of Sachin's batting. Although by this time there were other proven Batters like Dravid, Sehwag, Yuvaraj, Gambhir and Bowlers like Nehra, Bhajji, Balaji & Agarkar. Even Sourav himself was an excellent Batsman.

    As a 90 kid I grew watching Sachin playing on the field. And I didn’t even realised for even 1 match that he played casually. He played every match enthusiastically. Contributed both with bat and bowl. And let me tell this generation kids that no one I repeat no one dared whether it is selection committee or Captain of the team to make him sit on the bench without asking him. He had such an aura during his career and people used to watch cricket just for Sachin ❤️
