South African here, but these are two of my favourite cricket players of all time. Interesting story - I grew up in a place called Kimberley in the latter stages of my primary school days. Sri Lanka was playing a tour match there in 1994, with Arjuna Ranatunga as captain. The Sri Lanka players were sitting in the players pavilion, and I went up to Arjuna to ask his autograph. Not only did he sign my autograph book, but he invited me into the players pavilion, took the time to have a brief conversation with me about my cricket at school and the hot weather in Kimberley at the time. He also instructed Sanath Jayasuriya to take my autograph book to get all the Sri Lanka players to sign it. From that time on, Sri Lanka was always my second favourite team and I was delighted that they went on to win the 1996 World Cup. Huge respect!

sanga the thirdgrade sportsman in the world of cricket. sewag century no ball, then twice with sachin for centuries, one in odi and one in test. maha neech and below standard. he was a good batsman, but most gandoo sportsman seen in cricket history.

i still remember the smile sangakara had on his face when India won the world cup, watching that smile made me feel so sad and at the same time realise how good of a gentlemen he is

Whenever I see these two people, I never think of which country they are playing or anything like that. The moment I saw them, I was instantly transported back to my childhood, teenage years when these two ever-smiling legends would enthrall us match after match with their outstanding performances. Oh, how outstanding & golden days those were. Undoubtedly, these two greats have no haters❤ Even after repeatedly demolishing our own national team with superhuman performances, I could never be the least bit angry with them. In the 96 world Cup the batsman I was most fascinated wasn't Sanath Jayasurya, but his batting partner. ROMESH KALUWITHARANA. what an explosive batsman was that guy. But sadly he faded away.
Still Remember how sangakara took Aus for a ride chasing a target of 410 he single-handedly scored 100+ and in end what Aus were assuming to be cakewalk they won by just 30 runs
The most stylish batsman I have ever seen ❤ Sanga. I used to watch all formats when hewas batting. It was more interesting when Mahela was on the other end. That era of the legendary players was came to end with retirement of Malinga. Now I do not watch SL cricket anymore.
