- It's officially spring here in Michigan and we're Super Excited about that !! I bought this Thompson Center Contendor G1 15+ years ago. It came with multiple barrels. I had never shot the 45LC/.410 barrel until now. I just had to see how it performed with the Herter's TSS ammo. We were impressed with the results from this combo but we'll let you be the judge. I may just give it a try this spring Turkey season.

I do most my hunting with TC Contender and Encore. They are a blast to shoot. Started my TC collection about 10 years ago and now I’m addict to them. Just bought a MGM 357 max barrel to deer hunt with here in Illinois next season means we can use straight walled cartridges in rifle length now. Good luck turkey hunting. Would be awesome to see you take a tom with your contender!

Be Careful shooting TSS out of your Contender 45/410 , the choke has straight rifling to stop the spin of wad from the spin of the twist rifling . The choke is very thin at the beginning of the choke before the straight rifling . I shot a number of TSS loads though my Contender and when I took choke out it was tight and when I got it out it had a split in it . TSS doesn't compress like lead does and I think that's what happened .
I have 17 Contender frames and 56 barrels . I've been shooting Contenders for about 48 yrs.

I have the Taurus Judge with the 6.5” barrel that I had a choke tube installed. It’s a killer at 25 to 30 yards! Note: It voided the Taurus warranty but I have never had a problem with the gun. That Thompson is a cool handgun!

I love my Contenders! I have a .357 Remington Max barrel that I got for the shotgun zone. That .410 is great for small game!

Nice handgun!! Looks good at 10 yards for sure, and I am with you, don't think I would be trying 20 yards with it. Thanks for sharing. I should have taken a few days off work this week when it was sunny and in the mid to upper 70's.
Sorry to hear you couldn't get out with the poor weather conditions. We froze our tails off today trying to knock down a gobbler. I had 2 toms give me the slip midday. Hopefully tomorrow I can get it done.

I think the muzzle tamers are pretty unnecessary. It took me a while to find a factory TC 45-70 pistol barrel with no muzzle break. It's not too bad even with max loads. The .410/45 barrel with the choke is about the coolest barrel you can get for a contender pistol.

Iffin u seen my stuff I also own the Thompson center contender in .327 federal, .357 maximum, 44 rem mag, and the barrel you have. Except I rechambered it to 45-55 walker. I love the 410 bore but I want a 410 only smoothbore barrel with threads for interchangeable chokes. Maybe I'll find one someday.
