  • Hi, thanks for your time on my channel. Today in this video we would replace a liquid damaged #keyboard from #Lenovo #Ideapad S340-15API.
Somehow the owner spelt hot drink and the keyboard went damaged.
For the laptop, not every single keyboard replacement are the same. Example this model is a bit hard. But we would do it step by step. so let's start.

This is a brilliant video and enabled me to replace my old keyboard with a new one. There were 4 keys not working, but now they all work. Many thanks. I'd like to add some tips that I learnt that might help anyone else taking on this task. 1) All base screws are T4, and the 4 which run along the base at the opposite end to the hinge are extra short and do not need to be removed - just loosened until they click when you turn them. They won't fall out as they are held in with locking washers. 2) The heads of the plastic rivets can easily be cut off using a narrow wood chisel. 3) There are also some rivets underneath the black plastic sheet on the keyboard backing plate which connect to the keyboard and grill beneath it. If you peel off the sheet, they can be chiselled off quite easily. 4) I stuck my old rivet heads back on using some ABS dissolved in MEK. 5) You don't need to remove the speakers completely -just lift them up to access the edges of the backing plate. 6) Although my laptop never had a backlight, there is a connector which the backlight lead from the new keyboard now goes into - the lead had to be fitted copper side down (white line up).

Used this tutorial and another video showing the teardown of the Lenovo flex 5 1470 (my laptop) to replace this keyboard. Part costed me $26 USD with tax, I cut off each individual rivet with a plastic ex-acto knife and soldered most of them back on with the soldering iron. Attached the rest of the plastic rivets with JB-Weld, I let it sit overnight and put the laptop together after 24 hours. everything works great, thanks for the tutorial

Great video, made replacing my keyboard possible. Once I'd got the keys out I realised that it was going to be easier to replace the whole keyboard/trackpad assembly, but this video still gave me all the information needed to reassemble my laptop and it is now working again. Keep up the good work 👍👍
