      Yes sir! I was just about to order the Hobart too when this walked into my life. It was meant to be. I think that they are pretty much on the exact same level. Don’t think I could have gone wrong with either.

      @@StevesProjectCarGarage Nope, I agree. All comes down to the price point at that level, I think.

    I've just started to run 95-5 mix on my 140. Working very well and has very little splatter.

      You can run S/S w/o the spoolgun.

      Interesting! I’m still running 25/75 on mine. I have completed the bulk of the welding on my car now and I’ve been pretty happy with the result.

    Good choice not to go gassless on the spitfire mate, look's like a really good solid machine, i'm very sure you'l have some fun with that

    • @StevesProjectCarGarage
      @StevesProjectCarGarage  3 года назад +1

      Thank you. That flux core is quite messy. I would never want to use that anywhere near the Spit. Not even the frame.

    • @dougwisdom1239
      @dougwisdom1239 Год назад

      I've ran 75/25 w/ flux core. It's quiet hot but has really good results!! Penetration is max, with this combination.

    have you had any problems with it as far as suddenly shutting off and not restarting, I've herd this was an issue

    • @StevesProjectCarGarage
      @StevesProjectCarGarage  Год назад +2

      Nope, no issue here. I also don’t push it though on its duty cycle. That might be part of what others are seeing.

      @@StevesProjectCarGarage thanks for the reply bro , also whats the difference between the pro mig 140 and the easy mig 140 ? they seem identical to me all the specs seem to be the same

    • @StevesProjectCarGarage
      @StevesProjectCarGarage  Год назад +1

      Sure thing! I honestly couldn’t find much of a difference between the two. I think it might just come down to branding for the individual retailers.

    Get you a cylinder of straight %100 CO2. I have the ProMig 180c from Lowes and typically run 80/20 mix with 035/030 wire. .025 wire I like to switch over to CO2 and spray arc.

    • @StevesProjectCarGarage
      @StevesProjectCarGarage  2 года назад

      What would the benefit be of 100% Co2 vs MIG Gas?

    • @dakotadingo9083
      @dakotadingo9083 2 года назад

      @@StevesProjectCarGarage the primary benefit is cost savings. 65cuft cyl of 80/20 costs me $90, 65cuft of 100 CO2 runs $20. CO2 runs a hotter arc which is why I like to run small wire with my machine cranked up on it. Spray arc transfer helps to eliminate spatter issues associated with short arc/globular transfer.

      I also drilled a hole in the back panel, installed a grommet, and rednecked up a roll carrier so I can use the #15 and up rolls of wire. 045 flux core dual shield on my homemade setup lays down like hot glue

    • @StevesProjectCarGarage
      @StevesProjectCarGarage  2 года назад +1

      That’s interesting. I’ll have to look into it. I weld thin sheet metal though, so I need the thin wire and cooler temps.

      Good to have a backup C02 bottle for those weekend emergency type situations too. I can fill my C02 tank at more locations than my 100Ar or Ar/Co/He mix tanks. Handier than hell to pull up to the Fleet Farm at 7pm on a Sunday and get a refill instead of having to wait for the gas supplier to open in the am.

    All junk 140 Lincoln welders I'm on my 3rd 140 welder from home depot 1and2 stop feeding wire at the end of 1 roll of wire #3 has only wide open wire speed .home depot will not replace it. ALLJUNK not happy

      Bet you're running them on extension cords too. I do repairs on machines As well as weld and 9/10 times it's the user neglected the machine. Most negative reviews are people whom never weld or don't professionally and have no real idea how the machine works and think just following the sheet in the machine will magically weld dimes.
