One hint: If you buy the game and install the FAF client, you must start at least one time the original game. Without that it will not work. I did not do that and it took me some time to find the problem out.

Even though this was a clean sweep, this game was super engaging. Both teams held on completely for over 30 minutes, and then team 1 all fell within the span of 8 minutes!
Wow. So nice to see a Chicken committed to diving in and sending that ion storm to work. So many players try to save their chickens and end up just ion storming their own firebases.

It is like a good game where nobody really makes a mistake. But than suddenly someone takes the chance and breaks in. Which causes the opposing team to completely collapse like a house of cards. To be fair though, team 2 was ahead positionally in this game, thanks to the mass lead they could break through.
Honestly, it didn't seem that competitive to me. Team 1 was on the back foot rather early in the game and it stayed that way until the very end. With Okpuck completely owning the top pond and crippling NoOneCares and Limitless' ability to expand while consistently destroying their eco, it was no real surprise when NoOneCares was the first to go out and leave a critical opening for team 1 to capitalize on. Even if that hadn't happened, team 1 would have just slowly whittled down team 2 due to their better eco. Team 2 made a masterful showing here, not giving team 1 even a single opening throughout, as far as I can tell.
Indeed it was foreseeable for an experienced viewer, despite that, the teamwork of Okpuck, Wesh and TheWheelie was something you do not see that often even in pro matches.
@@Yssauc Very true, their teamwork was absolutely excellent. I just prefer to see matches that are more of a contest, even if it means that both sides are making mistakes. Both sides making both mistakes and good plays makes it more exciting from a viewer's perspective, in my opinion.
@@rerver8842 I agree, though Gyle also had a streak of many videos where every time the underdogs would somehow turn it around. Watching these games, you knew that whoever is almost destroyed, will win just because Gyle only casted those games anymore. So to avoid this, having a few "unsurprising ends" in the mix, makes the interesting matches more interesting :)
The tactical nuke is a bit of a gimmick, IMO. If you assign enough build power to it, you can probably do quite a bit of damage, but you've also probably screwed yourself over by launching all your money at the enemy. Still, it can be a great defensive tool as long as your opponent doesn't bring in the Loyalists.
Wesh cleaned up quickly once that spearhead frim wheelie broke through. I noticed they asked for a shit ton of mass and started spending it FAST. Figured it was for a Scathys & probably some Bugs (faster to pump out than ML imo.) Turns out I WAS RIGHT. Glorious clean up by a fellow Cybran enjoyer : )
After a long time of watching your vids I finally took the dive and started playing on FAF. Definitely have a lot to learn but even in the first 10 or so games I’ve gotten better. Glad I did it

@@UnproductiveSunbeam Sorry for the late reply but I've been mostly off lately not because I don't enjoy it but because of life. I always try to improve my game unlike playing call of duty or whatever. I think currently I'm around a 900/1000 player and only have about 100 hours in game. If you haven't already join the FAF discord. There is normally one or two trainers on that will walk you through one of your replays and give you tips on what you should have done, what you did correctly, and things that you may have just missed. One of the biggest things that just takes time is learning how much of each resource you need and how much build power you can have to spend it. I'm no where near the level of just knowing what I need and tend of over fill my mass but hey that's part of learning. The last game I played I ejected 3 players with my cloaked com it was fantastic because I single handedly turned the tide of the game with a single unit. Probably will never happen again but that's why we love sup com! So if you just started off take your time don't worry about being bad as we all were when we started but definetly look up starting build orders. They really set you up to have a decent opening and utilize the FAF discord

Farms used that tac missile launcher upgrade very well on the other hand. Always enjoyable to see that kind of opportunistic gameplay.
Bit late but FYI for anyone who owns the Forged Alliance Expansion physical copy, you can use the CD key on Steam and it will give you both Supreme Commander and Forged Alliance for free! Makes it a bit easier if it ends up packed in storage or you want to install it on a laptop.
Hey Gyle! I recently bought the games, and installed the FAF client. Unfortunately, my laptop is unable to handle the FAF multiplayer, sim speed and all that. I'm actually getting a new rig soon, an actual desktop PC, and hope to send you a cast in the future!
Does your laptop have an Nvidia GPU by any chance? There's a bug related to the most recent nvidia drivers that adds a lot of lag and stutter to the game. There's a mod to fix it or you can roll back your drivers.
@@Skiddings no. I have a really old cpu, an Amd catylist. From 2014 or 2015. Runs the base games fine, but the new texture and units are to much. I don't mind, as I'm getting a proper desktop

Callin it for Team 2 at 22 minutes. The resources and comprehensive eco to start reaping some nasty toys is not far off I believe. Unless Team 1 pulls of some amazing sneaky murder.....it will be a slow painful war of attrition via game enders/nukes/T4 death.
To be honest: If one team is ahead in mass by 20% *and* manages to deal damage while getting good traits the game is more or less over, unless someone gets really creative. The only reasonable way to expect a comeback from being behind so much in eco would be getting good trades, either by doing damage or by the opponent wasting their mass. In this game Team 2 never really wasted lots of mass and never took really bad damage, so this was to be expected. By the way: I suppose the UEF is made up of anti vax people, they have a satelite literally called "No Vax".
Great game. For some reason if I try to play nowadays it has this often repeating lag, I read somewhere that it is because of some driver update for nvidia hardware.

its a community driven mod which aims to make supreme commander easier to play with other people (especially after shutting down GPnet which was used to play multiplayer games before as far as i know). It also gives new maps, some small balance changes and i think some sort of new campaign which is possible to do with co-op mode. Tho to be fair i dont know much about it cuz i havent used it (btw FAF stands for Forged Alliance Forever)
FAF is a community made multiplayer platform for supreme commander forged alliance since the official servers closed ages ago, you can download it and tell it where your copy of forged alliance is, then you can play an updated version of the game by the community with ladder matchmaking, custom lobbies, and custom maps and mods. its effectively like having sup com still being officially supported by its developers and kept up to date but instead of the actual devs its the community

TBH full share makes more sense. Why should the units self-destruct just because they lost their commander. If there is another commander who can take over I don't see any reason why not.
I wonder, if i have supreme commanders FA not on steam but installed through CD disk on pc, can i still somehow get access to FAF? when i installed this , it told me to that i need to have this game on steam so somebody can make sure i have this game. do i need to buy another supreme commanders Forged alliance, this time on steam? you dont need it on steam, ive used FAF with my disk version, when you install FAF iirc you need to have the disk in and you need to have launched the game from it at least once, and it has a option for having a non steam version of the game and you have to show it where the forged alliance install is
As ryan says you can just show it the path and it should all be fine. Also you can just add the game to Steam so you never need the CD again - I think it's "Activate a product on Steam". I did this and put in my CD key and I've been able to download and install FA from Steam on any PC I log in on.
@@dananskidolf i have tried that too, but this showed me that key is already in use. That weirded me out, since i was only person who had this CD disk. No idea what went wrong

Unfortunate, but FA is not particularly expwnsive on steam, and with the current sales might well be as low as 3 dollars. In your place Id just pick up the digitap copy. The headaches and time you woupd waste getting that cd working would probably amount for a lot more than the price.
The game has a bit of a steep learning curve. But it's still the best RTS game and will be for a long time since RTS games are no longer advancing. Heaven's channel has some good tutes for you
Absolutely is. Its dirt cheap, and there are large team games where an individual player being unexperienced is not as much of a problem. AI is also reasonably good. Good enoigh to learn the basics against. And to get the basics down you really only need to learn one skill. Watch your economy. You never want to run out of energy, you never want to float too much mass, you always want to keep expanding your mass production, and you dont want to be using too much more mass than you have rollimg in, or everything you build will do so very slowly. Adjacent to this you want to keep expanding your build capacity both in number and tech level so that you can always use the mass you have coming in.

Unfortunate, but FA is not particularly expwnsive on steam, and with the current sales might well be as low as 3 dollars. In your place Id just pick up the digitap copy. The headaches and time you woupd waste getting that cd working would probably amount for a lot more than the price.

Yes... I remember Chris Taylor said in one video (on FAF channel) they had to sell the franchise etc. to make the SC2

The game has a bit of a steep learning curve. But it's still the best RTS game and will be for a long time since RTS games are no longer advancing. Heaven's channel has some good tutes for you
Absolutely is. Its dirt cheap, and there are large team games where an individual player being unexperienced is not as much of a problem.
AI is also reasonably good. Good enoigh to learn the basics against.
And to get the basics down you really only need to learn one skill. Watch your economy.
You never want to run out of energy, you never want to float too much mass, you always want to keep expanding your mass production, and you dont want to be using too much more mass than you have rollimg in, or everything you build will do so very slowly.
Adjacent to this you want to keep expanding your build capacity both in number and tech level so that you can always use the mass you have coming in.
