Just realized I made a mistake in classifying some of the Canadian cents. 1920-1936 are King George FIVE while 1937-1952 are King George SIX. I originally said that they were four and five respectively. Apologies to my Canadian friends!
Quin's Coins, what do you do with your copper pennies? I have about $100 in old, but uncollectible copper? Local coin shops don’t want it. Banks will give face value. Not sure why I’m weighing and saving. Can you provide any info as to why I should keep saving them? Mickey
+JD Is it possible that 1959 penny was used as a fuse in the old style ceramic fuse box? I believe they were phased out in the mid 50's, but can still be found in electric stoves/ovens? I'm old enough to suspect the 'defect' is evidence of arcing voltage; possibly a solder deposit or slag. It is possible that penny killed some fool, an assertion that is speculative but impossible to disprove. Pennies like this were often used as evidence in insurance cases where fraudulent claimants denied tampering when the fire originated at the fuse box- irresponsible landlords sometimes killed their credulous tenants by employing the 'penny trick.' A penny for your thoughts?
Thank you guys, you've restored my faith with the younger generation. I like the fact that coin collecting lives on. I wish my nephew would get into this.
If I'm not mistaken, 15 years ago the banks or stores would request that you put address and phone numbers on pennie rolls. Weird how you landed a box of them after so long. Must have been reused Cool Find
I remember writing my name and number down on all my rolls at BofA which was a bitch cause I didn't know about it till I got to the bank. Had at least $50 worth of pennies to deposit xD
I collect the 2009 pennies and i know the names, the Lincoln penny with him sitting on a log is called formative years and the one where hes standing near a building is called professional life and the one with a house is called birthplace and the one with the other building that doesn't have Lincoln standing next to it is called presidency
Even though this video is almost 3 years old I've enjoyed watching it. Love the competition between you two and the fact that you don't hide behind the camera like so many coin roll hunters on RUclips do. You've inspired me to do dual penny box hunts with my wife. She's not a collector but enjoys the search. We don't really do points. Just number of wheat's, Canadians and oldest. Keep the great videos coming!
Canadian bird coin 1-point point personally I don't see them come around too often I got to say I do like the pure gold one lol I definitely don't ever see them come around
My name is Larry Kalb from Brick, Ocean County, NJ. I have always been a "Coin Roll Explorer" for many decades and with various denominations. On Friday, January 19, 2019, in a roll of pennies--I buy $10.00 at a times, sometimes $20.00 --I found a 1907 Indian Head Penny(Everything Readable), in addition to a 1929, 1935, 1936 and 1943 steel cent plus some Canadian pennies. Every now and then I find a foreign dime mixed with the rolls of pennies.
after just 6 weeks, I found my first Indian Head 1895 in a customer roll. I never thought that I would find one. not the best shape, but one that I will certainly keep
I know this video is old, but I really enjoyed watching it! That 1959 could be an error, but it could also have been involved in a fire, with some molten metal dropping onto it.
1. Birthplace. "Log cabin" 2. Formative years. "Lincoln sittin there" 3. Professional life. "Lincoln standin by a building" 4. Presidency. "The building"
Quin's Coins Oh, almost forgot. In case you didn't already know, keep an eye out for ddr's on the 09 formative years. Doubling appears as extra fingers or thumb on Lincoln's left hand. Thanks for being interactive with your viewers too. It makes the channel more fun. You just earned yourself a sub. And I sub to nobody.
The 1959 Cent has what's called a "Lamination Error". Basically the blank copper planchet that the coin is made from is defective and flaked off a piece somewhere along the minting process. If you Google lamination error you'll see other photos of coins with similar issues.
Best Racing Tips Win At The Dragstrip usually when I hear lamination, I think of these long streaks across the coin. But after looking a little more into it, I can totally see what you're saying there. Awesome!
Hey man love your videos I just found a 1932 D Wheat penny yesterday pretty low mintage at only a little over 10 million. And i also found a 1926 Wheat thats my earliest. Great video btw man :)
Quin's Coins Philly. I live in SC so thats all I seem to get. i stashed 3 boxes for myself because im sure that P mint mark will be worth something someday hopefully
Quin's Coins Good call. When i first saw the P on the 2017s i, like other collectors, got excited. Now i guess i just feared they would mirror the 64 nickel in terms of commonality that they wouldnt be worth hoarding more than a few boxes. but hey if i can double up then lets hope my bank keeps sending them my way. I love y'alls competitions by the way. Great job man
Hunting and fishing. HAHA. Great video. And BTW, saw your FB message, just behind on responding to all my messages. And I still owe you a shout, it's coming. ;-)
Calvin : what your brother name he always says Calvin and me ? I love to watch you too together. Two brothers having fun together. That’s Nice 😊 .Keep it up.
Back in the day, many banks required account holders to write their name and account number on every roll of coins in case there were any short rolls once they got around to weighing them days later.
'Lincoln Sitting there' ( I call it Abe Lincoln reads Shakespeare ) is 'formative years' it depicts lincoln when he was working as a railsplitter. The log cabin is Early Years .... born in a log cabin, the two buildings are different buildings, c'mon you can't vlog any more until you know these time out for you
We've only ever found 1 of the Canadian commemorative bird cents so I think it should be worth something extra (we may need to add that to our scoring too just in case lol). We recently added dimes to the scoring after 1 was found while making a video and caught me off guard because it wasn't on the list lol. Fun vid again Ryan, keep em coming man and we really need to find a way to do a CRH competition between a few of us on RUclips somehow! HH
+Coins for Amateurs we need to just do what all the other RUclipsrs do and have everyone just move to LA so we can collab all the time lol. But yeah I'm trying to think of an interesting way to do this over video call or something. Would probably require a lot of different camera angles and efficient file transfer methods. It's doable, but it'll be a challenge.
Maybe 10-15 points for the most unique cent but only one can use it and be voted on. Like a really worn cent, drilled hole, painted on, scribed with a name or drawing on one, something along that line.
The Canadian Centennial is uncommon and I would think should be worth more points, similar to the points for the 2009 Lincolns. Although I do not remember what points you give those at the moment. Thanks guys for posting your video.
We see a good amount of 2009s so we let them be worth 1 point each. I think you're right, the bird cents should definitely be worth something because they are really cool!
I noticed you didn't have a definition for die cracks on your google doc. A die crack is when a die used to strike the coin cracks during use causing lines to be struck on the coin where the crack happened. Some die cracks demand a high premium depending on how early it was found in the minting process making it a rare or more common variety.
Thanks! I definitely struggle in the error category the most. I have a lot to learn there. I added your name to the bottom of the page as a contributor!
Quin's Coins Awesome, I appreciate the recognition. I've actually been working in the coin collecting industry for 5 years now so I'm happy to answer any questions I can. Keep up the good work!
+Relic digger thanks! The book is the 2017 red book; I picked it up at my coin shop. The 2018 version is out now if you're looking for the newest version
I hope you all enjoyed the competition hunt! What's the best coin you've ever found in a customer wrapped roll?
Quin's Coins my best coin was a 1947 silver quarter in the Customer wrapped roll
1977 silver kennedy in a roll of all 77's
1909 VDB. Also, last week I found four Indian heads in a box from my credit union (1903, 1904 and two 1907).
None
I found a 1700 year old coin in a coin roll. I thought it was an Indian Head cent. It looked like it was circulated 100 years

I love pennies and love getting boxes from the bank 💛
Not all us us newer generations want to drug deal or be wannabe rappers. Some of us actually enjoy coin roll hunts 🤗🤗🤗
Coin collecting will live on 😁
@@derekclawson5707 I use to coin roll boxes from the bank, but I was getting all the newly minted pennies from Loomis, so I quit coin roll hunting.
Do more point hunts! It would be more interesting if you did a mega hunt with lots of penny boxes! Very entertaining video.

LMAO, your homie looked pissed at the end of that video, like he was plotting revenge!! 😂😂
I love these coin box hunt challenges
Did my first box of pennies the other day, not too much luck but yesterday at work I found a 1950s silver quarter.
JC'S Adventures good luck on your next penny box

I think the bird cent should be worth the same as the young head.
This should be competitive league play. What a great game.
Oh man! Great finds.

Your chances of finding them in customer wrapped rolls are much better! That's awesome!
Thanks for update
nice 1950 cud penny this are good finds
This looked like a lot of fun!
I think they should be worth 10pts because it's an anniversary coin. And it looks pretty cool.
Coin.collecting. hobby can you sud to me I will do the same
I think they should be worth 7 points for the last number in the centennial anniversary year.
Absolutely awesome idea. Definitely will be watching more! Subbed.

flying Canadian cents should be worth something

I know I'm late, but I've had the luck of pulling two 1909's . Not sans, just a 1909 p V.D.B and a 1909 p.

I have almost a $25 box of copper. Is it worth it and could you tell me your reasons for keeping them?
Cool game
Fun vid, guys.
Love your videos Quin!
Hey man quick questin what holder do you use for your phone to record the close ups of coins? and what camera do you use for the whole video?
I don't use anything for close ups, just my hands. My main camera is a canon t2i.
o ok man it looks like your phone is sitting on something like a phone tripod?

For some reason the last 5 boxes ive ordered has been new 2017 cents. Kind of a let down

yes
For use as a tiebreaker you should count the "Defaced" coins good for a 1/2 a point.
I like your videos
Should check the 53 Can. to see if it is a shoulder fold.
It's worth a few cents as they stopped mint production for the Canadian cent
what do you do with the copper pennies from '59-81??
Nice vid
You should have called him said I have your penny’s then say bye
I opened a penny roll the other day and found 7 clad dimes

I have olny one bird cent and I have never coin roll hunted
Anyone know what book they use? There’s a few and I want to get the best.
Have you tried the ping test? It's where you flip a penny with your fingernail and if it rings it's copper but if it thuds it's zinc.

yes 10 pts
For sure, Canada 🇨🇦 Oh Canada 🇨🇦. Good people in Canada. No place for politics in coin collecting. 👍

BIRD CANADIAN WORTH 3 POINTS
I have a question
Once you find a coin where do you go and sell them
Even though it might be fake i still like it and a eagle cent should win the round
at 10:28 i believe its a ddo error keep that
Never been a fan of pennies. The returns are just too small. But you guys would make wooden nickels look fun.

10 points
Lol I was wrapping pennies and put a dime in just to say fuck it whoever gets this roll will get extra money
Do a box of quarters in a live stream
I found 3 dimes in one box and i haven't found one sens
How do you get rid of the green on some of those pennies
how about adding memorial s mints and proof like cents
