There is nothing wrong with a pick. I play fingerstyle and with pick. Sometimes in the same song. It just depend on the style of the song and the sound I want.
There's nothing wrong with bassists who use picks, I was just being obnoxious. There are plenty of legendary bassplayers who use picks. It takes some time to learn how to get good tone with just your fingers and I think a lot of new bassists can't be bothered, especially if they come from a guitar background - so they shortcut straight to the pick. That said, I can't play with a pick to save my life!! lol
I wonder if Chris' fingers ever got tired playing this song even tho I once read an interview with their producer who says Chris' got terrific power in his fingers alone.

As a bass player, I appreciate the fact he’s making this look easy AND he’s doing it without a pick. That’s how it should be. Chris is awesome!
