- Fell in love with this song a few weeks ago after hearing my de facto Uncle sing it. He lost his wife unexpectedly this Spring and he sings it with an emotion I can't hold a candle to. Anyway, I bungle my way through it on guitar and hope the vocals make up for it a little. I'm no JB, that's for sure.
This is NOT INTENDED AS AN INSTRUCTIONAL VIDEO so no whiny comments of that nature, please. I mostly just made it for myself and my family.
Rishloo is such an amazing band, your talent and vocal creativity are mindblowing, too bad there's not much info about you on the internet, you should be far more famous, man...
Thank you. I don't foresee working with Rishloo in the future at present. I am gradually, very gradually, writing some things of my own. I don't know that they will be any good, but I'm mostly just doing it for my own enjoyment & expression at this point. I'm tentatively considering releasing a track as I finish it, but it will definitely be awhile before I have anything to share.
Dude, I must say, you're my favorite vocalist of all time. I would love nothing more than for you to continue singing, so I can continue to follow one of the only singers who causes me to completely open up, let go, and be overcome with bliss. I almost tear up when I listen to Rishloo now, haha...

And since everyone always asks: I am indifferent to Maynard and being compared to him. I have never tried to sound like him, and I really don't know enough about the guy to judge him. As far as I am concerned, he's a human like the rest of us. In a nutshell, I think he's just figured out that if you say nothing, people find you only that much more captivating. I think he's done some great things, but he's not the greatest singer or lyricist, IMO.

@Silvana Parolin I am really glad to hear the music means so much, and that I was able contribute. I wish more people appreciated that genuine character counts for something in music. Talent has always been secondary to charisma and creating shared experiences.

Ucheny: First, even if I could play Dave's guitar parts, I respect what we created, and RISHLOO belongs as RISHLOO, performed by RISHLOO. I refuse to partake in the BS drama most band break ups create, and in this case that includes performing previous works by the group. As for my own work, well - writing songs has never been something I have spent much time on. Lyrics and vocals are one thing, and I have some confidence there. So far I have only managed bits and pieces.

Hi, just found your channel and now I'm amazed. You might be bored when people talk to you about Rishloo but I still feel I have to tell you my story. Two years ago, I was completely bored with music, listening to everything I've heard over and over. I felt like I could not be impressed again. Then a good friend of mine showed me Rishloo over a couple of drinks. I liked the sound but only til I listened to the albums at my place I fell in love. I completely understand that! people shouldn't be dissapointed that you dont want to be recognized by your volcal talent alone. I love your music, but if you do not feel content with being exclusively characterized by your abilities and not your actual human individuality, thats how you feel and I respect that. Either way, you have inspired me and countless others greatly :)

No Drew, I, personally, care for you because you inspire me. Every time I listen to Rishloo, it gets in touch with my soul. Isn't that enough reason to care about someone? And at some point, it broke my heart knowing that Rishloo wouldn't be able to release LAGWBAT. I'm sure I'm not the only one who cares for you because you can get in touch with their souls. Some confidence? Dude, I if could sing like you I would be oozing with confidence. I think you have the most amazing voice I've ever heard. @Андрей Тома no secret. Just technique. Strong, responsive diaphragm control, opening eyes for high notes to "lift" the palate. It is still hard. I'm probably too out of shape to pull it off now.

I guess at some point you want to be cared about for something more than your voice. I'm a person, not a sound, and I won't be dependent on my voice to define my value as a human being. Frankly, if that's the case I'd rather destroy it. I love singing, but if it's all that matters, I don't want it.
That’s the downside of taking something you love and having it become a job.
It becomes work, and without being able to separate into its own box and enjoy it for what it is ESPECIALLY, if the people closest to you value you for your work only.
In my case,
Having the correct wife changed the paradigm and filled the holes, so to speak and that cemented the fact that I’m not what I do, it’s just a part.

You hit notes that he couldn't even hit in his prime, and more importantly, you hung out and talked with your fans at shows, while he charges his fans 100+ dollars to meet him for like 2 seconds at VIP meet and greets mainly to sell his wine, Just saying, while Tool/APC, as well as Rishloo are some of my favorite bands, I have way more respect for you than I do Maynard (at least his public persona, since I've never actually met him). Keep on Keepin' on.

incredibly late response but I believe the lyrics were written by both dave (guitarist) and drew, though I wouldn't be surprised if other members of the band also had input. on the old rishloo forum dave used to post riddles that sounded very rishloo-y, and I certainly recognize his writing style in some earlier rishloo lyrics for sure

So, you don't like the life as a celebrity? I can get that. But if you love singing so much, why did you quit? Still, you will be remembered as a human being for your family and your friends and that is what really matters, so you have nothing to worry about! Singing must not be all your life, dude! You know work is work and speare time is speare time, don't mix them together as a freakin' FBI-agent or something! So cheer up and hold your head high!
Btw, I am totally guilty of making the Maynard comparison early on when I first started listening to you guys, but honestly, your voice at times (at least on the first couple Rishloo albums) did sound similar to his...that is what INITIALLY drew me to you guys, but I can honestly say you are a way better vocalist than Maynard. (cont. in next comment)
You take that back!!! I don’t care if it’s been 5 years and this isn’t any knock on Drew’s talent because the dude has some pipes on him and I dig Rishloo’s sound and style. That said, he has nothing on Maynard. If you do a fair comparison and use songs from Opiate, Undertow, Ænema, even some of Lateralus like “Ticks and Leeches” when Maynard was still somewhat young then you will see how much better he is than Drew.
drews high notes are better than maynards but mid tones are not fascinatin like maynards midtones

Unfortunately, the weird person comes with the voice. Were you to marry it, you'd also be stuck with the voice's awkward friend sleeping on your couch. Nobody wants that!
