      my carpet is old, and I have pets, there are some heavy duty pee stain, what can I use? without damaging the carpet?

    • @HowToVideoChannel
      @HowToVideoChannel  7 лет назад +1

      You are probably going to have to scrub it out. However, this will be harder on the carpet than other methods. Therefore, I would first try the WD-40. If that doesn't completely remove the stain then get some dish soap and start scrubbing.

      Teresa Davis Vinegar is best for pet urine. Its an acidic that nuetralises the odor and breaks down the crystals that take hold to the carpet. Once dry, sprinkle with baking soda, vacuum, then spray febreze.

    I have tried the vinegar method and the WD-40 method and in some cases in works. However, I hadn’t heard of the beer method so I will try that. Thanks!

    Hi!! Great information.. How long should I let the WD 40 soak in?

    • @HowToVideoChannel
      @HowToVideoChannel  5 лет назад

      20 minutes or so would be enough.
      If the stain is still there, then repeat the process.

    Interesting thanks. One quibble: it would have been better if the carpet had been just one colour to start with. It looked to have been flecked with blue ( perhaps it was the lighting / shadows? ). Whatever the colours were, the fact that it wasn't one colour made it hard to see which were the stains and which was just the carpet! I'd never heard of the WD 40 thing though. I'll try it when I'm feeling brave.

    Let's face it, the soap and water used after the WD40 or the beer is what actually did the cleaning. Using soap and vinegar is counterproductive because vinegar is used to remove soap or rinse soap out.

    will wd-40 remove old red stains on carpet?

    • @HowToVideoChannel
      @HowToVideoChannel  8 лет назад

      Hopefully. It's definitely worth a try. For an old red stain I would let it soak in some WD-40 for several hours. Keep spraying it so that it stays wet. Then use the soap and water to start scrubbing the stain out of the carpet.

    • @HowToVideoChannel

      Some were coffee, others were ashes and charcoal tracked in from a bonfire.

    You lost me at Dawn cause ive been told to never use Dawn on fabrics. It breaks down the fibers and dries out the fibers aswell. Use borax, lemon orange citrus, peroxide or vinegar or mineral spirit for tough stains like nail polish, sharpie or paint. Any of those will work. Also, you NEVER EVER scrub carpets as you are setting the dirt down into the fibers. This vid should be called How to not ruin carpet for dummies, but the WD40 seems good. thanks

    I have 3 animals and my cat pee'd and poo'd on my carpet. Will this work for it? Cause I tried to remove the smell and remove it by itself and it didn't work.

    • @HowToVideoChannel

      Give it a try. Once you remove the stain. Use Fabreeze to eliminate the smell.

      RevCandle Best thing to use for pet urine and odors is vinegar. It is acidic and will nuetralise the urine and break down the crystals that take hold to your carpet. Then you can sprinkle with some baking soda, vacuum and spray febreze.

    Does anyone know how to get condiner out of a bedroom carpet without parent help? I have it in my carpet and want to get it out before my mom sees

    • @HowToVideoChannel
      @HowToVideoChannel  8 лет назад

      Try some of the methods in the video.
      The best option is going to be scrubbing. Conditioner is a soap based product, so you should be able to disolve it with water and some elbow grease.

    your damaging the fibers when you scrub. you should blot and use a good professional spotter.

    • @HowToVideoChannel
      @HowToVideoChannel  7 лет назад +1

      Yes, scrubbing can remove strands of the carpet. Blotting is always the best.

  • @mslee3596

    Don't scrub the carpet. It tears the fibers apart and makes the carpet look old. A white cloth is best otherwise you could transfer color of the cloth to the carpet.
