I use trail cameras for what you are doing. I don't get very good images, but I just use them for scouting. I get apprehensive about leaving them outside of my control, but checking them is, just as you said, like Christmas morning. Thanks for letting us tag along!

I know exactly what you mean, I leave a lot of money every time I put the camera trap out and I always worry about it. Thankfully I have a new trail camera which links to my phone which helps.
I too use trail cameras to scout out areas for potential photography 👍🏻

Hello Dan. I stumbled upon your video while looking for ideas for deploying my camera trap. Thank you for describing how you are setting yours up and also the ISO increase instead of raising the power of the flashes. Planning on deploying my set up in the coming weeks. I have a couple of trail cams "scouting" the areas I am interested in leaving my setups. This achieves a couple things. First if the camera trap goes missing I am not going to leave my traps there. Secondly it gives me an idea as to what wild life is there and what times of day or night they are out and I can set the trap for those targets. Carry on trapping and I will carry on watching.
    Cheers from Canada's west coast.
    Benn

Cheers for the feedback and ideas Benn, it’s great to get comments from overseas especially from Canada a country I’d love to visit. Good luck with your traps 👍🏻

I would like to see your flash housing set up. It looks quite similar to mine. Lots of plumbing bits and bobs as you say.

I use a piece of down tube with end caps. I will put a video together about it. Thank you for your feedback 👍🏻
