Hi! Good job! Thank you! Very important: if it is possible ALWAYS, I repeat ALWAYS put the screws from the top down and washers and nuts from the bottom up! This is because of the vibrations. The screw connections are very good friends when mounted properly but worst enemy if they don't. So, the nuts and bolts always have tend to loosen due to vibration. If the bolt is mounted from bottom up it will fall down because of gravity and you loose the connection. The result could be... I don't even want to think about it... Otherwise if the nut falls down the screw will stay and you will have loose connection but you WILL HAVE connection. You will hear that something is wrong and fix it. Believe my 50+ years of experience 🙂
Great work, Just a tip for the cornering on karts, they don't have differentials so if you lean into corners the inside tire will scrub causing you to go slower, so if you want to go faster lean outwards of the corner so that your inside wheel lifts up.
Nice work. I made a 5000w kart and was a nightmare finding a battery that would handle it. 300amp setup. Used Audi batteries and only paid 80$ for a stack of 16. Each cell handles 600amps! Now we cursing but only goes 30min per charge and has 2 7cell packs to make 48v so charge independently then hook in series when operate. Takes a night to charge. Lol
This project is underpowered considering the insane work you put in the build, but great job! This My1020 motor can handle twice what you're using (6kw) easy, but considering the weight, you would need to spend $1500+ on 2 tandem motors, lithium 72-92v's, and 10kw+ controller to compete with gas engines. Actually you could smoke gas engines because of the electric torque.
I used the same motor, same speed controller "minor alterations", I built a lifepo4 72v 12ah pack, built the cart from scrap steel and a 100$ welder, put good 10" tires on it, with a 3.33 gear ratio, same exact 428 chain as video. I reached 82 mph.
I have a feeling he wasn’t using a 72v pack or it wasn’t lithium probably still waiting on his final battery you should be able to hit well over 70mph he was barely going 40
A Dr. Keeps everything nice and clean.. you make everything you do look so easy. . Wish I had your talent. I've attempted diy homemade builds alot in the past. Only a couple came o ut right lol ,my chainsaw bike was a good one ...

Love this! Did similar build on eATV but the mishaps and delays leveled me! I finally replaced motor kit and back in action. How did your build hold up, kart is next on my list 😃
Loved everything except for the wire management and the fact that you soldered into the battery terminals instead of just getting a compatible connector, which would make it removable and able to be charged easier.
@@Kevin.OBrien44 , yea you did it right and you used a good size. I have one that’s about 4 inches longer than the one you have and it’s a beast. Hey mate, great video! I converted a kart into an electric one myself too, but my reverse and 3 gear switch doesn’t work properly. Do you have any sort of wiring manual? I switched the direction of the motor running (because of building reasons), could this be an issue with the functions not working?
Try drillin holes in the motor so that it cools and install a fan to cool it. I have had a motor kit like this and it smoked after running for 20 minutes
@@aauussttinn Yes, I've got 150 dollar refund, as I requested. The motor was fine, but my load was too big and the motor overheated. I installed it on a bike and the gear ratio was 1:4 so it should have been like 1:10 or even more to reduce heating

I noticed that my 72v motor lacks the fan inside seen in many videos. Do you have issues with over heating destroying the motor? I'm mounting a fan below and drilling the holes up in order to at least get some airflow. What have you done?
I can explain: karts have adjustable engine mounts, they can be moved forward and backwards on the chassis thus controlling the tension of the chain, he made a new motor support with the existing mounts so the chain can be adjusted like a regular kart.

The motor used is "3 phase" so changing 2 wires around makes it spin in the opposite direction. If you have a programmable speed controller it can be done with software aswell.
Hey, guys, where compare part with 2 kart, engive vs electric with some professionals on it? I am so wait it at end... And some result feedback from them...
Shouldn't you be using at least 8AWG for the main wires coming out of the battery? And possibly a larger terminal strip? You're really pushing the limits for what I'm assuming has a peak amp draw of 40A.
