It's emotionally immature and yes it conveys a powerful message.

not everytime. I don't think men use it on purpose. My body just can't speak anymore. This is after numerous attempts to try to explain things and after countless trials to remediate the situation. Then I just go silent. My heart would still speak sometimes but my body wouldn't say a thing. I would say the silent treatment is more of a defense mechanism against narcissists.

@@bernardwongibe5118 let's just say you have your own thoughts on this topic. I couldn't disagree with you more. You're blaming the other person and playing the victim to validate immaturity. That's my point of view and it's not likely to change. I find that Narcissists use the silent treatment for control and I believe it with my whole heart. We may need to agree to disagree on this topic. Have a nice evening ☺️

Such a manipulative technique. I used it before and it cost me big time. 😬

I refuse to communicate with strangers when I’m in a bad mood 😒

Thank you for sharing! In current culture, silence is applauded way too often as a more noble thing to do rather than actually do the brave work to communicate and help make things better for everyone. Love your work! Keep it coming! 🤩

That, coupled with ice, is the worst of all; I grew up with it and I wait for someone's anger and am surprised when nothinng bad happens .

Atp you got some many times to give me the silent treatment before i start to move on. This is immature we can not fix a situation if you refuse to communicate 🤷🏾‍♀️

This generation between the ages of about 20-45 are highly immature, lacking healthy communication skills, very avoidant, disconnected, selfish & dismissive, so silence isn't always used as a negative manipulating tactic or to punish someone, but sometimes, at least in my case, when the lines of communication get distorted and twisted and you're just not being heard or understood, then it's a waste of time to keep repeating or defending......So I will just shut down until you're ready to have a mature conversation, because some people are unwilling to listen if it's not about them...

It’s extremely hurtful. My mom has refused to talk to me for years and will not tell me why.

I just stopped caring. Trust me when you grow up and you show you don’t need them the silent treatment because a moment of peace. They’re finally not annoying you with their bs. And you can do whatever you want because if you’re gonna act like I don’t exist I will do things under the pretense that you don’t exist. My mom has increased the frequency of the silent treatment since I’ve stopped giving af about it and treating her like the child she is. Trust me, the best way to beat that childish nonsense is to treat them like the child they are. Because moms who do that are adult little girls. Period.

I did it for a while.
When I felt very hurt, not understood and alone. Very sad and angry too.
Soooo angry, I could not talk.
And then I would not talk.

Music is distracting! I want so much to hear the message but the upbeat tone competes with a heavy heart.

Dealt with a chinese girl for 3 years. Got mouth shut often enough. Since i learn to manage my reactions, when they irrupt. And knowing what emotions does, a physical reaction, with incomfort, there is adaptation. And that is part of human life. I believe the refusal to communicate is communicating. And if communicating takes place again, it must be on a different level, as it is prescribed. Are we collectively afraid to get corrected? And we evolve not getting the lessons we should have learn? I still talk to her. I have not always contained myself. But she did not judge or condemn the outbursts, contrary the the occidental culture. And recently trying to go social, positive and negative emotions have arisen. (Got blocked, canceled, kicked out...) But i am building resilience. That is what i noticed. Making others responsible for our incomfort, our feelings, is probably unproductive. Dealing with ourselves is the first step. Learning through grinding is probably the way.

After being told to shut up, I decided to keep the peace. The unintended side effect was not missing the whiny demands of attention from the loudmouths.
