After being so impressed with the Royal Enfield Meteor 350 earlier this year, I had sky high expectations for the Royal Enfield Classic 350.
How good can this stunning retro motorcycle be, and is it worth the extra money when compared to the Meteor?

Spot on with your impressions, Freddie. I've owned my Bronze/Chrome Classic 350 since April and clocked up 1800 miles. RE have pulled a blinder with that engine. It's simply superb, and the look and feel of the bike is out of this world. Incredible value for money. I was a little concerned about the weight at 195kgs but it is in many respect an advantage in terms of the planted feel of the bike on the road, and the sense that the chassis is over-engineered for the modest power output. As for economy, I don't know where you got your figure from - could it be US gallons? I have filled the tank now about six or seven times, varying between 96 and 106 mpg Imperial. I think you would have to pin the throttle all the time to hit 78mpg. I'm getting the low fuel light around 200-220 miles, with 3 litres remaining. Glad you enjoyed it - are you tempted to buy one?
Maybe he used E10 crap 🤷🏻♂️
Thank you for this- I’m pinning this comment for others to see an owner’s economy insight🙂🙌🏻🙌🏻
Hey thank you for commenting on this beautiful bike. Been really wondering how this bike would fare in city/town environment and this comment gave a good picture
I’m looking to ride around on a beginner bike that I can travel comfortably 2-3 hours on hwy, and do lot of city/town commute riding.
You will get real mileage clocking after 3k or even 5k
I'm 83 and walk hunched over with a cane. I've had 13 bikes in my life of different sorts. It is impossible to get them out of my mind; and I want another. The more I look at Enfield, the more I'm impressed. Great video. Thank you.
Eddie. Have you had problems getting insurance at our age (88)? Thanks.
Wish you well. Get the bike given opportunity I say.
Get one !

As an Indian who watches Royal Enfields in bulk on our streets, it is good to see that non-Indian reviewers are too astounded by the magic, the witchcraft RE Classic 350 possesses. This bike is an emotion, a true epitome of things not adding up on paper and in theory but surprisingly, everything falls in place just right !
AS a Indian gentleman your country saved Royal Enfield all those years ago as a British chap proud to say Thankyou to you and I will buy one next year it will be the 500 all the best sir and India 👍
@@user-gv3bt5mi3o Thanks for the kind words. Hope you get your Enfield soon. All the best!
I want to get the Signals 350 in Desert Sand in 2024. The only thing I don’t like is the “limiter” or speed governor Royal Enfield installs on their exports. The problem is after passing a slow truck uphill, the same truck is now driving you off the road going downhill because the limiter kicks in and won’t let you keep up with the same speed as the truck going downhill. Also, I know the bike is NOT a long distance cruiser for super highways here in the U.S., but occasionally it would be useful to use the interstate highways for short distances or short cuts without that limiter. I live in extreme southwest Florida at sea level where there is not a hill anywhere for hundreds of miles, so it is not a problem like the rest of the country. I may get a larger front sprocket ⚙️👀 to increase highway speed if need be. From what I’ve read the change in sprocket size is only advantageous in flatlands. Anyway, hello from hot, humid, monsoon SW Florida 🌴🥥🌴🥭🏝. 🇮🇳🫡
@@generalnguyenngocloan1700 Hey ! The variety of weather we get in India is incredible. This means the same Enfield is being used somewhere in -10 degrees Celcius and somewhere in nearly 50 degree Celcius. So weather proofing is quite nice for us! Also, the revv limiter may seem frustrating given it allows (probably) only upto 7000 rpm. I am not sure if that rpm limiter functions when the bike is in neutral too. We are used to go extreme downhill in neutral!

Thank you.
That's lovely! Just take care getting back into the hobby and stay safe!
Me too. I bought a Meteor, it had so much character and it was so easy to ride. Just grabbed me when I sat on it.
Your still a nipper Pete! I’m 68 and haven’t previously ridden for fifty years. Just getting back to bikes thanks to my son recently getting “the bug” ! …Loving the whole 350 range and (hopefully) within my budget 😎

joy to the max. I cried looking at the bike. I cried more when I heard the sound of the bike. The trick is you put it in high gear while riding it at slow speed. The sound is from heaven.
Bro in india before the bs6 norms and before the fuel injection we had this with carburetor at that time after a little bit of tuning that low rpm sound with a modified loud thumpy exhaust was something out from this planet
Very well pointed out. It's one of the most addictive things about the bike, one of the little unexplainable things that add to the joy of riding it. It's one of the factors that RE have that we can't quite explain but make us come to it time and again.

Back in the Sixties I ran American Flat Track and TT later moving into GP. Some of my story was featured in the Documentary film Caffeine and Gasoline: Evolution of the American Rocker.
I’ll ride till I can’t.

I bought a 350 Classic in April, I absolutely love riding it! My first bike was a BSA B31 back in 1956 - that was also a 350 but that’s the only thing it had in common with this beautiful 2022 machine. I’m getting 115 m.p.g. and enjoying every ride. @@johnb7855 The torque is probably the main thing about the 350cc engine, the horsepower number is low. This is the perfect bike for city runs and going around the countryside in style and comfort. Reminds me of a BSA or a Norton single, in fact, the same relaxed thumping vibe.

@@FreddieDobbs RE bullet and RE classic are like a tradition here in India. It never fails in all weather or geographic conditions of India, even while riding through the high altitude motorable roads in the world in Himalayas (even before the debut of the Re Himalayan).
In pop culture and movies (atleast 2 musicals are made in the last couples of months about Re Bullet 😂) often Superstars make their heroic entry in REs, its considered macho. But the biggest road presence is when we see the army edition of this ridden by the soldiers 🔥.
India as a family oriented country, no other bikes matches the comfort RE gives especially for the pillion. The resale value is insane on this one in India, so they remain as the undisputed king on Indian roads.
@@FreddieDobbs RE is an Indian company
For Indians RE was the only famous bullet bike in the olden days (along with Jaw and Yezdi)
and after it was relaunched in India it became a MAJESTIC HIT WITH RE CLASSIC 350 AND 500.
AND THEN THE RE THUNDERBIRD 350 took over and was a big hit
After that the HIMALAYAN.
These 3 bikes ruled the Indian market for almost a decade.
Then again RE UPPED THEIR GAME WITH INTERCEPTOR 650 TWINS
AND THEN THE METEOR FOLLOWED.
AND NOW THE NEW AGE RE CLASSIC 350.
ALL OF THE NEW BIKES ALSO BECAME VERY VERY BIG HITS IN INDIA.
This is our INDIAN COMPANY MAKING INDIANS PROUD ACROSS THE GLOBE

Bravo, to the engineering team's sorcery.
Hi Rod, do you still have one or two RE’s of your own?🙏
Thank you!
From everything I’ve heard and read, I think the secret behind the 350s engine smoothness is a reciprocating crankshaft balancer. This engine already seems to be getting a reputation for being the nicest single around just now…👍
Yep it's the balancer shaft that makes the motor so smooth.

I agree, the Classic looks even better than the Meteor but the more relaxed seating position on the Meteor was more important to me. I got myself a Stellar Red a few weeks ago.
Congrats

Yeah I like the Meteor better overall and especially the more forward position on the foot controls is better. It's more practical as a cruiser and I like the look better as well although the Classic sure is beautiful too and perhaps is better looking in some ways. Some days I really do love the Classic appearance than I see the Meteor and think this is the fuller package for me.
And also has a great history as it was used in ww2

@@akshayiyer2014 very interesting, I was wondering why there were so many bike reviews made by Indians. Cool mate
FYI the reason why RE continued making bikes after UK factory was shut is largely due to the demand of Indian Army post 1950-60 wherein the bike was used by despatch riders of the forces and was catered by the RE factory in Chennai. Also, it is only recently that large population is able to afford a RE earlier it was primarily catering to the forces.

Great videos as always Freddie (& Monica). Got my Classic 350 one week ago today. Is a gem of a bike. Your review and overwhelming enthusiasm for it was spot on. This bike will serve as my adventure-mobile for many years and miles to come. Cheers from the US!
Your review of this classic 350 is simply marvelous. It is a work of art, just as much as the motorcycle is. It completely got under my skin (in a good way) and made me want to run out and buy one right now!! Unfortunately it's Sunday today and the dealership is closed. Keep up the great work you're doing Freddie. You are by far the very best at your craft!
Freddie, I have watched and read dozens of reviews of this bike and this is by far the absolute best yet. You have a rare ability to capture the spirit and soul of a motorcycle and it is such a talent. Now I want to ride one as soon as possible. I’m heading to Tenerife in October and will be looking to rent one!
This is the best looking retro bike I have seen. Looks great from every angle. I would certainly choose this over the Meteor.
With regards to the power output: biking can be just as much fun on a smaller bike, as long as you are not riding with mates on fast bikes. I have a classic Suzuki (T200 Invader from 1969) that is just a little bit more powerful than the RE classic. However, it is so different in character. I really enjoy riding it. So easy to park, and good fun to scream it up the twisty mountain roads.
For new bikers or older ones returning to biking, this Royal Enfield could be a perfect long term investment. You don't have to upgrade to a giant BMW GS later. Adventure is an attitude of mind. Enjoy adventures on any bike. There is room for all in our community!
What a pleasure to watch your wonderful review! I bought a Fireball Yellow Meteor about a month ago and am loving it. I considered the Classic, but just prefer the more "industrial" look of the Meteor at this point in my riding career of 50+ years. Your videos are world-class, though, in terms of insight and style, and I knew I'd enjoy watching this one, too. I hope you and Monica keep up the great work. Cheers from Kentucky USA!
'Fireball Yellow Meteor' Great choice 👍
Freddy, I love your channel. I have not ridden for 20 years and just got my first bike. It’s the same one you tested with the red/chrome. This is a fantastic bike but particularly suited for a new or returning rider. I did make a slight error. This was an impulse buy. I was heading to the dealer to get a meteor. I had done an extensive amount of research; this was the right bike for me. But when I saw the chrome, I switched bikes. I did not realize that the classic 350 is slightly higher in seat height than the meteor. I am a short rider at 5’5. So I’m somewhat on my tippy toes on the classic 350. I have taken my seat to a custom seat fabricator, and we have shaved off 2 inches off the top of the seat. Royal Enfield also sells a low rider seat that's 1.2 inches lower.
I have been following your channel to prepare me for my journey back on the road!
I'm 5'6" and happy with the seat height

@@FreddieDobbs hello Freddie, very nice video, as always. May I ask you your opinion on something? I should get my motorcycle licence in a few weeks but i can't make up my mind after several months between this 350 classic and the interceptor, both red chrome. The price apart, could you give me your opinion about wich one I should go for. I love this 350 classic but sometimes I feel a bit like it is not a real bike because of its size whereas the interceptor looks more like a serious bike with more power, even if my goal is just to have pleasant and safe rides. @@julienpithois6391 I'd go for the Interceptor as with the 350 you'll probably get frustrated on B roads when you can't overtake slow traffic. You can always go slowly on the 650, having pleasant and safe rides, until you feel confident with its (and your) abilities.

I have had my Classic for 16 days now and concur with your review, it a cracking little bike and you do not need speed to have fun 😀. My first tank of fuel returned 103mpg so it cheap to run along with the stunning looks 👍
I bought one in 1979 rode it till 1982. The only bike I ever owned. Have many wonderful memories. First thing I did was to get rid of the side-stand which I think insults the majesty of the machine. Excellent review of the Classic 350 . Big fan of Royal Enfield and the top of my wish list for the past 2-3 years has been the Int650 until the 350 appeared and there have been so many positive reviews, including yours. Love the video and the passion. I think your points at the end are spot on.. whatever bike you get it needs to make you smile every journey. I have owned 45 bikes since I was 16.... Harley's, BMW's, and Fireblades to Vespa's... I've had my 2003 Bonneville for 15 years and my Royal Enfield Classic 350 for a month or so.... Classic 350 all the way. You captured exactly why in the video, I couldn’t say it better!
I have the Bronze 350 and it is my favorite ride. As Freddie mentioned, if we are honest most of our rides are weekend jaunts on secondary roads and this is where the Classic excels. Unbelievable value.
"Makes you happy to be alive" Quite a feat for anyone or anything these days. Exactly why I'm getting one.
Brilliant video. Thanks for posting.
After having ridden mine for 750 miles, I would have to concur with everything you say about the bike, Test rode a Meteor last August, which was great, but when the Classic 350 came out last September, there was "no contest" as far as I was concerned, so waited, and have not been disappointed. Filled up with petrol this week (have chosen to use E5 all along) and have averaged 99miles per (imperial) gallon. since new, brilliant! Thanks for a lovely quality, well put together video.
Great review Freddie one of the things you forgot was that the tool bag has everything you need to work on the bike on the road. Unlike other companies, they only give you a few tools, and many times you will need to add to the tool kit. I know I love my Classic Signal... many smiles per mile.
Hi Freddie, Hi Monica, I've watched many of your videos and enjoyed them all, but this particular bike comes together with all it's attributes and just charms you and then your viewers.
I run a 2022 Himi with now 2600 kms on the clock and it's feeling just great. Really quite liberating.
Royal Enfield obviously have a large bin of "Secret Sauce" they sprinkle on their bikes and we just Love 'em !!
One of my favorite features of this engine is that you can adjust the valves yourself without pulling the cams, undoing the cam chains and all the associated problems. Simple screw adjusters to adjust the valves, you can't beat that!
As a previous (happy) owner of the Meteor 350, completely agree with Freddie. Engine has smooth throttle, characterful sound and sufficient torque for relaxed riding in the back roads. The Meteor and Classic are perfect gateway drugs for beginner riders and the weight will "train" the owner for bigger bikes. I may have some bias, but I'd still go with the Meteor looks-wise, plus the beginner friendly tubeless tires and gear indicator.
There are tubless variants of re Classic.

I picked mine up here in Seattle Washington about a month ago. I’m getting a consistent 70 miles per gallon. Absolutely love the bike! Can’t say enough about it! Cheers!
Great video (Royal Enfield should definitely use this for their own marketing!). Absolutely love the intro and your description of how this beautiful Motorcycle makes you feel. 👊😎👍
Perfect review review Freddie. I’m actually tempted to replace my GSA with one of these... completely different machine, but perhaps a better package. Thanks mate. Chris
Great quality and very informative vid Freddie, I have a 1963 RE 350 Bullet and have the same admiration as you do for the new version ie looks/ exhaust note/ practicality
Absolutely loved the video.have liked and subscribed.Loved the music, walk around, little jolly down the road and especially the chilled out coffee and chat about the bike. Will be watching more of your vids and also shout out to Monica for great camera work.
I'm so in love with the look of this bike and all you have said about it. This bike really moves me in a way I haven't felt in years.
As expected a great video again. Although I have the meteor (and love it), I absolutely can feel what you are thinking about the Classic 350. It is a great bike, in relation too look and performance (if you enjoy riding slow!). For me the 20 HP of my Meteor absolutely do their job and i am enjoying riding it! Awesome video again, Great job Freddie and Monica. Greetings from Germany
I’ve got a meteor and there were 2 reasons I went for that over the classic. One was the extra cash (I wasn’t planning on buying a new bike but my old one died and I needed something reliable urgently) and the other was availability. They just couldn’t get hold of these in March this year quick enough. Lovely bikes, they’re better if you never carry a pillion though, with a single seat they look awesome
I thought they look better sans pillion too.
Man. Stuck between this and Intercepter 650, I absolutely adore both of them! My first bike was an '87 Rebel 250, and this reminds me of it.
Freddie, that was a great review, as usual. After this review I HAVE to get a Classic 350! Since both bikes are value priced, you can have 'em both... :)
Yes! Been waiting for this review for ages! Loved this Freddie. I'd love a Classic 350 all blacked out but with the spoked wheels. So it looks more like the old Classic 500. Phenomenal looking bike 🔥👍
It may not be available yet in the UK but the Classic 350 'Dark' variant has spoked wheels and is available in black. They are here in the US.
@@michaelabernathy7013 Ahh that's the one right there! Would love that over here in London 🙌
I miss stealth black thunderbird and classic 500 with spoked wheels and silver royal enfield branding so much. They looked so out of world and out of words
Such an enjoyable review Freddie. Hats off to you and Monika for such a lovely presentation and production. The bike, well it speaks for itself but not many reviews come up to this standard. You're an inspiration for others 👍
Love your videos too bro
Hi Freddie, Liked your laid back style also I used to live in Woodbridge, so it was good seeing a lot of the places I used to ride around. I ride a 1250 gs, as I live in Sweden and do a lot of gravel tracks and off road. I personally would pay the extra 600 pounds,as the classic really is a pretty machine .Been riding bikes since 1965,so matchless BSA , Norton, no Enfields but always lusted after the continental gt250🤪Anyway just subscribe and think this bike will appeal to a lot of people with good economy, and a budget price.Let’s face it with ever increasing speed restrictions etc, this bike will look after your licence as well.Good blog and team work, best wishes from Sweden 🇸🇪 😎🏍👍
For my first bike, I went for a Meteor 350 (in Stellar Blue) specifically because I liked the look of it better, but boy howdy are you making it hard for me to not go and try out a Classic. I've only just started riding (not even a month in!) and I'm absolutely in awe your passion for these motorcycles. Thanks and keep doing great work!
Always loving your videos. I like this bike but for me it would have to be the Meteor in Super Nova brown, gorgeous bikes. Such great value for money. Hope your having a great time in Lithuania. All the best.
Great review Freddie. I’ve been waiting for this review for quite a while since I won own myself (matte black) and was curious to see what would you think of it. For me, the biggest difference from the Meteor beside the looks is the rider’s position. I tried the Meteor but the front foot pegs were not for me. On the classic it just feels so right. Like driving down the street on a plush sofa.
subscribed.
Great points, great review.
Me personally, I would never pick meteor over a classic, just cause the classic is a timeless work of art.
I love bikes that make me feel special when I ride them and look at them
Fantastic review. Extremely well narrated. Nice job by the camera lady as well!! Brought back all the fond memories down the line!! Pure Nostalgia!!
PS: The beamer almost hit you. Be careful and Ride Safe.
Royal Enfield thumping exhaust note is the best in the world. That sound is so satisfying. I ride my meteor just to hear that Exhaust note. It's so cool and majestic.
Absolutely beautiful bike and the exhaust note is terrific! 👌 If there was a 'sound dictionary' this would be the sound under 'exhaust' 👍🤓 even with a top speed of 71ish mph, who needs more from a beautiful classic cruiser... Brilliant video for a cracking bike Freddie 🙌
Great showcase of the motorcycle. Loved your passion and enthusiasm for bike and motorcycling in general. I have booked the Classic 350 in Marsh Grey color variant and am waiting on the delivery. I am very eager to experience the bike for myself and hopefully make many great memories with it over the years.
I could pretty much go either way, but in the end I opted for a Meteor myself. Both bikes look amazing in their own way. The Meteor definitely puts a smile on my face every time I ride it, or just look at it. I'm sure if I had got the Classic I'd be saying the same thing. Happy riding Freddie!
I love what Royal Enfield are doing. I really do think a Classic 650 would sell like hot cakes. Royal Enfield feels like a company making motorbikes affordable without cutting costs on what matters. I love being a Royal Enfield owner.
Lots of new bikes coming out in second half of 2022, a super meteor 650, a bobber 650 and a shotgun 650, along with a new hymalaian 450 oil cooled
Your excellent video has pushed me over the edge!
I’ve just got back from the nearest dealer, having put down a deposit on the last 350 in Stealth grey on the boat.
I loved the meteor engine, but couldn’t get on with the mild feet- forward position, this feels perfect, and I love the blacked out no-chrome look, the chrome is beautiful too and more original maybe, but the bike will live outdoors under a cover, and I want to ride, not polish it on my days off. I am grateful to the other commenters saying 100mpg plus is achievable.
I think Enfield have got it just right to appeal to a whole range of riders, and I expect to see a lot of them on the road.
Great choice! I share your opinion on the color. I would have loved the gun Grey too, but it wasn't available at any dealer around, so I chose full black. There is one more aspect to it: Black looks even more old fashioned, more 40th style while Chrome perfecly represents the fifties and sixties. At least to my opinion.
Freddie & Monika - a real world review, beautifully filmed, edited and delivered. I hope RE’s marketing people are watching - you should be on the payroll. Well done both… can’t wait for the next one. Cheers.
Owned a Bullit 350 in 1979 - was a great bike then. This new Classic is a whole lot more. Thanx Fred for rekindling the Enfield passion
I’d pick the classic 350 over the Meteor. Now the big question Freddie, what will you be replacing the Bonnie with? Great review. Hope you guys are having fun.
This guy is a fantastic salesman because now I want one, having absolutely no need for one, having two great bikes already.
Your passion for this bike comes through with that lovely British charm. I loved my RE 750’s back in the 60’s, and now it’s been revived with this bike. I just purchased this classic in the desert sand military version. I have recaptured the joy and pure pleasure of motorbikes. Thank you for posting this wonderful review. It’s TRUE! that money cannot buy happiness, but it can buy a motorcycle.
I just love these films.Great stuff Freddie, and really exceptional camerawork from Monicka.Fab!
Well presented vlog Freddie and as enthusiastic as ever, I like the looks of this bike but for me the engine isn't big enough a twin would in my opinion look even better.
Such a beautifully portrayed review, loved it ❤️
I just bought my wife the 2022 model in olive green yesterday. What a great video thank you.
The presentation is just blowing me away. Its pure soul put into making. Love & respect from india
This video convinced me to buy my 23 Classic in red.
I chose the Meteor Supernova Brown over the Classic mainly because I wanted a modern take on an older style bike, rather than a new bike that looks like an old bike. So it really comes down to personal preference. Both are great though.
Absolutely
Love how you do your videos and your shots are spot on. The presentation is 👌🏼. More power and more videos to come. Much love from the 🇵🇭
I'm a scooterist, but loving your channel after discovering it recently. As I'm from Redditch the Royal Enfields do interest me...
I think this would be a great bike for someone who wants to show their friends how to ride. Cheap, looks very nice (minus that weird gap over the back wheel), and seems to be a decent ride for a short commute or running to the store.
Hi Freddy👋🏼 enjoyed your video and i agree with your thoughts and this is coming from someone who is riding this bike for last 5 years. The only downside you mentioned is the highway speed and yeah it feels little slow on a highway but again it all depends on what kind of roads you have around you. Regarding the break brand bybre it's an affordable offering from the band brembo.
The only thing i didn't like about the bike is the plastic cover on top pf fuel cap. It was unnecessary cost cutting but again those things can be fixed with aftermarket tank caps.
And lastly this bike looks so gorgeous with solo seat😍
Thanks FD. Great job. Good info. God bless. Happy trails.
Great video, outstanding quality and delivery.
100% Would pay the extra money for the stunning looks of the Classic!
Hey Freddie, I started watching your videos after I stumbled upon the RE Classic 500 review that you had done.
The charm of that bike is known all across my country and it felt amazing to see you enjoy it too. I bought my first motorbike the Classic 350 Reborn around 6 months ago, and I fall in love
with it each time I ride it.This bike isn't just a vehicle. It's a feeling. Lovely. Absolutely lovely.
Freddie! From NY USA….
Really appreciate your reviews….be it travel spots…. Brand shout outs…. Especially the entertaining bike reviews.
Purchased a RE Classic 350 last year after being out of it for a few years. You were. Review! Thanks for all you do. Be safe.
Thanks for an excellent review of the 350 I definitely want one now. Got to mention Monica's excellent camera work, your lucky to have her behind the camera.
Classic 350 is the bread & butter of Royal Enfield brand
That's the reason they launched Meteor 350 first as this engine(J series) was introduced in that bike. They made sure that this engine is loved by the customers, made slight changes as per the feedbacks after launch of Meteor & then introduced it in Classic 350. Classic was first introduced in 2008 & since been sold unchanged. This was to be its first new generation & was named "Classic Reborn". As the name suggests this bike is an absolute classic & boy they nailed it....
Lovely looking machine, Freddie, and a great review. For me, being much heavier, if it was 500cc with a bit extra torque it would be perfect!
RE are currently developing their new 450 single. I'm hoping the classic will get that engine when they release it.
ByBre literally stands for "By Brembo". It's Brembo's brand of calipers for small-mid displacement bikes.
Monica is brilliant.. hats off to such aesthetic footages 🤍
