I can't say this is the case for all birds but one time my parrot went way higher than she ever did before and she seemed like she wanted to come down so bad and fly to me, but she wouldn't. It was like she was afraid. I had to fix my air purifier so I just let her stay up there as she chirped at me, 15 minutes later she finally came down and flew to me after much hesitation. Sometimes I think some birds are just scared to fly down from high places if they spent their whole life not flying very high.

Mine likes to fly away and yell at me, waiting for recall. It can last hours, lol.

Thank you for your super helpful videos! I was wondering if you would maybe do a video on picking bird names (particularly birds who may someday say it back 😁). I just got a conure and I'm probably overthinking it, but I am struggling with naming him.

😂 I’m the worst person to ask that I’ve named two birds in my life and the rest all came with names upon adoption
For the couple that I did name I just let them vibe for a while until something settled with them, usually personality traits and just generally as you get to know them makes it easier to feel like a name really suits them.
And there’s no rules about pet naming, you can always call them something for a few weeks and decide it doesn’t suit them quite right. It’s not a huge deal!
As for their capacity to say their own name it’s usually easiest for them to repeat words that are 1-2 syllables and have very distinct consonant sounds (Ex. Coco), L and M sounds tend to be a bit trickier- think anything that uses a lot of lip or tongue movement.

@@FlockTalk touche, and again, I'm probably way overthinking it. This is my first from a breeder bird, so I'm being a little over the top. I'm not nearly this ridiculous with dogs, but that's my wheelhouse (and why I appreciate your training styles on both).
