OP of story one is a burgeoning predator. any reasonable person could clearly see that they ruined their chances and recognize that to you this is a failed high school crush and to her it’s her future being derailed. asking her to prom was stupid, but expecting an answer like her visceral bodily response of actual vomit wasn’t a clear enough answer is SCARY

Absolutely. He said "I don't wanna be seen as the guy who can't take no as an answer" but still tried to pester her and fuckin *ask her to prom* after she made it clear she didn't want to interact with him. Passing along an apology through a mutual friend should have been it in terms of interaction. After that, the ball is in her court and its her who gets to decide if she wants to reconnect. But he kept pushing and ignoring every single sign she gave that she didn't want to interact with him, let alone go to prom or be his girlfriend.
Oh ffs. Grow up. A lot of 17 yr olds don't have a clue about many things, he likely hasn't experienced someone having a panic attack and likely felt like he had to fix it. When you are older and with kids, you have more compassion. Just like I am being understanding that you exaggerate and think you are doing something there.
@dudeorduuude5211 Yes and no. It's not like this isn't something he can grow out of and learn better than, for sure. But, it is clear he doesn't actually listen to what the girl wants, and doesn't respect her feelings at all. She refuses to speak to him or be in the same place as him. He ruined her future, took away her chance at a scholarship. But he thinks "a fun time" at prom will fix it. He clearly still thinks she's overreacting, doesn't believe her, or literally doesn't understand the consequences of what he did. He is living in his head rather than reality. Maybe just a bit, and with maturing he will learn empathy and be more aware. But he is 18 and it is genuinely concerning that he doesn't see how wrong his actions are.
I do believe that everyone is capable of learning empathy, and some people learn later in their twenties when they are surrounded with other more mature people who know how to nurture it. But these are also red flags people should be aware of that and not ignore them as if they are totally harmless. Because continuing to believe what he wants to be the truth over what the girl is actually telling him can lead to horrible consequences.
The pendulum can swing either way. But it's not crazy to be disturbed by his actions and what that could turn into.
(I mean, he gave her a panic attack, her friends try to keep him away, begs to switch classes to stay away from him, and he won't leave her alone. It's legitimately concerning.)

It’s hard to know if he lacks empathy than just common sense. Though I think there is because how he describes after saying “I feel bad.” It doesn’t seem like that feeling comes from hurting her, but from realizing that he’s being rejected by someone he idolized.

Dumbest reason I’ve ever gotten in trouble at school was because I asked my (male) teacher to go to the bathroom because my period had started and he said “well you should have thought about that and started at lunch” … so I just walked out of the room. When I was in 4th grade, I got after-school detention for never doing my homework. I had gotten myself out of after-school gifted classes because I didn't like the walk back home, so there was no way I missin the bus for detention. The detention teacher didn't know the kids, seemed oblivious, and would only have kids write their names in the sign in sheet. On days 1 through 5 of detention, I would walk in, sign my name, look around to make sure no one noticed me, and I would run out to the bus. Never served a day of detention and never got caught.
Story 2: Alex is TA for not just telling Amanda he wasn't interested in her romantically. He didn't have to tell her the reason but he could've communicated clearly instead of avoiding her and stringing her along.
Story 1, op is beyond creepy stupid but that aside,.. the project he wrecked. He’s in a classroom area thats for this film stuff. He is waiting for her to come and do a presentation or something? Your a classroom where art and film stuff is done which means don’t touch anything. When i was in high school there was the wood shop for example,.. we knew not to touch the piles of wood as thats a different grades wood projects. Same in auto class. If theres an engine block on a rack you don’t move the parts lined up. Same with the art rooms. The grade 12’s were doing oil paintings you didn’t touch the paint. He was in the room for film students. Don’t touch stuff. He was in the freaking class too apparently like come on! Yeah my school WAAAAAY back int he day had awesome classes which I never knew wasn’t normal for every high school. Now today same school doesn’t have half of it.
He should have spent every waking moment either fixing or recreating her project and then present it to her as an apology and offered to do anything else she needed to help her get back to the stage she was at

Story 1. From her point of view I'd consider him a bully. And I've been cornered and forced by a bully to "go steady" myself (5-6th grade). Even if he was oblivious to how his actions could be considered ny others and her, and there were no malicious intent. He took a wrong action at EVERY turn and is oblivious. He's either a phsycopat or mentally impaired person.
I've never done stop motion but I have some knowledge about it. I know the box was meant to be a set for an alley way and had trash glued onto it but there's possibly another reason the box probably "looked like trash" depending on what stop motion technique she's using. In a lot of older stop motion films, characters would have pins or screws in their feet to help keep them in place on set, however it would cause a lot of holes on the set. You can see some holes on the floor of the set if you really look when you watch Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. They used that technique too. The box probably had a bunch of holes and "looked like trash" for that reason.
i think it might have been more "actual" trash to decorate the alleyways edges to look dirty/ covered in garbage. same with the drawn "graffiti" he mentioned as "someone scribbled over it."
The problem is people don’t just accidentally glue that many pieces to something if it was just trash it wouldn’t have so clearly purposely done

I went to a public highschool in Brooklyn and we had seven gyms, a theatre house, a news station, dark room, several chorus and band rooms also.
Story 1 is literally a version of “He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not” (The French Film). We need a Reddit version from her to complete this story. We still all agree OP is an AH and maybe cannot understand social cues, words, or actions, or environments, or emotions, or etc…..
If that kid really wanted to make it up and fix it, he should have immediately gone to her film teacher, gotten a copy/pic of the project and spent every waking hour remaking it and given it to her with a deep and sincere apology

The first story: I kinda blame Faith for what happened to the box, I have made multiple short films and I'm currently in animation and graphic school and I'm always very careful with my films I make and always take precautions with anything I'm using in the film, the best piece of advice I can give is "trust no one but your self because people don't have common sense" also op is %100 TA, he should have just took the L and never talk to her again.
But it was sitting prominently in a class for stuff like that. It'd be like seeing something in a pottery class and deciding to just smash it for no reason. Who randomly plays with something they thinks is trash? Tearing pieces off of it and drawing vulgar stuff on it too? And there's no real way for an intricate set not to look obvious. An alleyway scene has more than just trash. It was something that couldn't be rebuilt quickly and it was made by someone who won awards for stop motion animation before.
It feels like he might've known that was someone else's stuff, he just didn't know it was hers. Or worse, he could've been plotting some kinda creepy romance thing where the plan was that he helps her fix it and she falls for him after.
So it’s her fault that a prop she was actively about to use got screwed up while sitting in the FILM class? That’s some insane victim blaming you’re doing right now.
She was probably just working with it and just left for a short moment. It was in a room dedicated to that kind of work after all ...

The first story sounds fake but I wouldn't be surprised if there are people like that out there. And he's an asshole who refuse to leave her alone. It's freaken creepy and I can completely understand why HE gave her a panic attack from the promposal thing. If someone does not want to talk/communicate with you, respect that. I got detention for the stupidest reason. I didn’t have detention but after school I was supposed to give my brother a ride home and he was in detention. I walked in to ask him if he could get a ride home from his friends who were also in detention. Detention hadn’t started yet and I was just heading to the door to leave and the teacher came in and told me to sit down. I told him I wasn’t actually supposed to be in detention but he just said well you are now. I wasn’t allowed to leave. Pretty messed up. I told my brother to just assume I won’t be there for a ride home if he gets detention ever again.

He is an absolute menace. He is not as dumb as he is pretending to be. No one is that stupid. He is playing games and harassing and torturing this girl. There is zero chance that he is unaware that is what is happening here.
Not an excuse for this behaviour though. Maybe an explaination for the wreaking of the set, but asking her to prom after she made it clear she didn't want to talk and even blocked him is just him being desperate.
I don’t think so per say. I’m autistic and in my experience, I don’t understand the social cues in the first place, but this guy seems very aware of them, just writes them off as being unimportant. He actively dismisses everything to make himself feel like less of a bad guy and ignores things that aren’t even hints. He points out multiple things in a way that shows he understands that there’s an issue, but writes it off as “not important”, such as he knows the girl was upset when he first destroyed her project, but didn’t see it as that important hence didn’t get why he was so in the wrong.
In short, he seems to know what is happening socially, but just doesn’t care and seems to see his world view as the only one that counts. He just sounds self centered and the way he described his parents as being nicer towards the ending makes me think that he’s been spoiled and taught he can do no wrong(and this is the outcome of it).
I’m autistic, I have a really hard time with social cues and understanding what to do in situations especially situations that has someone be mad at me.
I am also BPD, I sometimes don’t act rationally.
On top of that my whole life has made me a mess that has a hard time being “normal” and knowing how to act.
I would NEVER do even 1% of what that dude did, not even back when I was a teenager that was undiagnosed with all my mental illnesses except my ADHD.

If she doesn't want anything to do with you after, even after the friend mediating the apology, she does not want to give you the opportunity to "accidentally" ruin other potential joys in her life.

For story one if you really want to keep something like that safe, keep it in a separate area, keep it covered or roped off. And add clear signs that say do not touch and signs that explain what it is. People are stupid and miss things that seem obvious. But what's obvious to you might not be obvious to someone else.

I had a friend in elementary school named Nancy, and we were super close as little tiny kids, but she got held back a year so I didnt see her again for years. Omg 😂 I shared the first story with my partner and he’s made a stop motion animation before. I didn’t even tell him the whole thing but he was panicking for this poor girl, he went through the whole motions of grief and panic on her behalf. A lot of public schools have electives off campus. We had two buildings we'd bus it to take radio, automotive, law enforcement, FFA, photography etc. I graduated in 2010 for reference lol
Yes! It’s been over a decade since I graduated HS, but we actually had to take both home ec and Vo Ag in 7th and 8th grade at the small public school I went to. We got to choose which class we wanted to take in 10th-12th. But we also had trade school in 10-12. It was off campus as well and we would have to ride a bus to get to the campus. I choose cosmetology my 10th grade year (which ended up becoming my career for years) and then automotive my 11th grade (because I’ve always had an obsession with cars). I’m pretty sure that school still offers these electives bc the building is still there. It’s for the entire county
In elementary school we had silent recesses. Like if we couldn't go outside to play and we got to loud we would have to spend the rest of the recess being completely quite.

That guy doesn’t get to stupidity excuse. He WENT AFTER a woman RUNNING away from him that isn’t stupidity that is just not being able to take no for an answer. He clearly believes she owes him a chance and she absolutely does not. Also public proposals of any kind are NOT okay unless you are 100% sure the answer is yes (ie already talked about it) otherwise it is absolutely entrapment because you put someone in a hard position to actually say no, not to mention many people (clearly this girl included) have extreme social anxiety and having people literally recording her and watching her (which is 100% his fault for being so loud about it) is a nightmare senecio. I feel so bad for his crush, unless an amazing opportunity presents itself, he literally stopped her future in place or created more work for her. You will never be anything but a story about the kid that almost ruined her life!

I went to detention for FASHION. I went to a Roman Catholic School. I was not wearing socks with my Topsiders. This was detention worthy. I, of course, missed that 7:00 AM detention and got the DREAD IN SCHOOL SUSPENSION!!! I was supposed to go to my teachers and get penalty homework. I was smart and went to my 20th Century Authors teachers. She assigned the next book in class. "One Day In The Life of Ivan Denisovich." I was the only one in the class that figured out the core theme of the book.
I teach an after school program for my kids school for sewing. I too think it's an important skill as well as a fun hobby to know. I personally make money sewing.
I went a year to a little "country" school who still had home ect and it really has been the class that I actually use what I learned the most.
On a side note, I'm so glad to hear other people get second hand embarrasment so bad they can't watch cringy videos/movies. Everyone in my life has always told me I have no sense of humor, but I don't see how someone being embarrassing/upsetting is funny? I feel SO BAD for Faith! iTo have to endure this level of betrayal and THEN have to sit through a "promposal". I remember how awkward it was to even be in the room around people doing one of those. But to be the "target audience" of one after losing my entire future plan/life goal because of the same dumbass? OP of story one is brainless, I swear... I can feel the embarrassment and anger of Faith so much, my stomach hurts. I'm glad she has protective friends!
Concerning Elf and second hand embarrassment... totally with you Sophia! As a matter of fact, I have a hard time watching any movie with Will Farrell because of the cringe and second hand embarrassment
At our Highschools in England I know a bunch of people who had their GCSE coursework and final pieces go missing/ get destroyed and the teachers would just blame the students who's work it was 🤷🏻
That school sounds like my school. I graduated high school and was certified as a veterinary assistant.
Aww I loved Home Ec. in middle school. I’m sorry you didn’t get to experience that. I still have a stuffed unicorn I made for my mom that has since passed away.

Story 1. I feel like he did it on purpose I feel like knew exactly what he was doing. But he didn't know the extent of what he was doing. I think he knew it was one of her projects I just don't think he knew how important it was. My mom lives with me. She's 81, I'm 55, and my kids at home are 20 & 17. (I have one kid who is renting her own place and is 29.)
