It may be cumbersome at this scale, on top of that, they are mostly reusing their comic Batman headsculpts, like this one that looks just like hush batman but with long ears. They re also doing thar with TDKR figures, same sculpt but either black or blue paint.
That's exactly what I was thinking. That way people could have swapped between the angry mouth with the short ears or the long ears with a normal mouth. It's really interesting they didn't go that route since it looks like Bane will have a faceplate system instead of different headsculpts.
Not much, but consider this a happy father's day contribution towards your new camera! I get way too much out of watching your videos. Easily my favorite figure reviewer and this is the absolute least I can do to say "Thanks!"
This Figure seems to be covering Bruce's Costume in "Knightfall". The Standard version is from the Beginning of the story. The Head with the Rebreather is from the part where He was fighting Joker and Scarecrow to save mayor Kroll and they were trapped in a tunnel that was flooding. The Horned Cape version is from "Knightsend" when Bruce came back to take the mantle of the bat from Jean Paul Valley
I was not feeling this Batman at first but he is really good. Bane I am liking a lot but from photos his head seems a little big, but maybe he is better in hand too 😅 excited for that release
Great video review of this one Anthony. My favorite variant of Batman is the GOAT - Adam West. I need little ears and a bit of a belly. Seriously, this product looks like the most attractive 1/12 Batman you have reviewed. As an adult collector, the price(s) do not intimidate IF the product is the variant desired. I am tired of chasing the other companies' releases just for character representation. Close enough isn't good enough in 2024. I want the 9/10 variant and am willing to pay the price for it.
Another problem with the long ears on the Mafex body is that it’s glaringly inaccurate. That’s the Kelley Jones Batman and he was a huge, hulking monster, so it’s weird when we have that head, but on a skinnier, Jim Aparo-ish body.
I too was not feeling it much when i saw the pictures, was a little let down. Was waiting to see some in hand pictures and he looked a lot better, and he is that classic look which is my favorite look, i like the hush version and black and grey versions too but this version is my favorite. Also saw the abs like man that's crazy overall he looks quiet good. He has some issues, wish the lower torso was sculpted better and instead of the underwater head, he should have some other expression head of short eared version. But yeah overall i am quiet digging it
I still prefer the MAFEX HUSH Batman, but I guess that partially ties into my answer for the QOTD, because the black and gray suit with the black logo is my favorite look for the character. I’m pleasantly surprised that this figure is so much better than some of the promo pictures, though. I wish we could get this same version of the figure in black/gray.
The only thing I could do without because I'll never use it is the head with the breather for swimming under water, they could given use me accessories than that head. Finally a Norm Breyfogle batman figure, RIP Norm Breyfogle. To answer your question comic version I grew up with this batman but as far as costume I prefer the non trunks version so the Jim Lee Batman new 52. But Norm Breyfogle is my favourite Batman artist of all time. The cape horns look better in the comics than on a figure. The long ears are based on artist Kelly jones but the head sculpt isn't based ok Jones' actual art so it does look a little weird.
Blue and grey is definitely my favourite look for Batman, but I'm a little iffy on the colours on this figure... I don't mind the bright blue but I feel it looks a little odd when the blue is lighter than the grey. It's perfectly acceptable but I would prefer the grey to be a little lighter or the blue a smidge darker. The spiky cape shoulders I don't care for at all; I don't like it in drawings and it looks even weirder in plastic form - and worse still when combining plastic spikes with a cloth cape. Nice to have options though, and I think they did a pretty good job with the transition from plastic to fabric with the more standard cape.
I was gonna hold off on getting him and wait for a possible sale, however after hearing reviews like this and seeing some awesome photos I was hit with serious FOMO and ordered him. Good to know you like it!
My fave Batman suit is Hush Batman. I think the muted blue and gray look amazing, and the bat-symbol i like a lot, as far as comics go. Pattinson's suit is my favorite movie suit
My favorite look for Batman is black on dark gray, big black bat on the chest, a metallic/bronze/gold utility belt, trunks, long ears, and a cape that closes in the front. I'd prefer if the black has a bit of a blue tint to it, like the suits in the Schumacher films, but still immediately register as black.
It's probably a less popular answer, but I've always liked the first appearance Batman suit with the purple gloves. The 90s animated series is probably my second favorite Bat suit
This definitely is the best overall batman figure so far just sayin. qotd Fav costume for me is the troika era batsuit despite its inconsistencies (dark body colors with blue gloves / cowl. medium ears.
Qs of the Day: The Jim Lee Hush costume is my favorite Batman. The cape spiked above the shoulders isn’t my preferred look, but it is kinda cool to have the option. No, I will never use the underwater head/cowl combo. I agree with you on the angry/long eared head. That’s too bad, because I would have liked that option as well. I would have been fine with the exact same sculpt as the standard head with the only difference being the longer ears.. Mine will be displayed like yours.
While I generally prefer the Keaton-style black armored look, this color scheme has a HUGE nostalgia hit for me. I was 4 or 5 when the old Super Powers figures were coming out, so this specific look really brings it back for me. On top of that, the first major Batman arc I read was Death in the Family, which also had this color scheme (really, this is how he looked for decades). What's funny is I didn't even know he had the 2nd cape until I opened the box and it fell out. I almost didn't even open it, because I wasn't sure I liked it better than the Hush version. Now he's easily my favorite Mafex Batman.
The top right tip of the bat symbol on mine is missing paint. I have mine with the long ears and spikey shoulders. It makes him look different from all the other batmans I have.
For me it's Black and grey with the blue sheen on the black, like BTAS. But For a straight up costume I absolutely love without being that general it's Batman Arkham Asylum's design.
Black and grey with the chest emblem just being the bat and no yellow circle. Yes to underwear tho. I just think it looks so clean and to me, that's Batman. Pointers to if the cape has blue or purple on the inside. Something about that pop of color just works in my head. Even if it doesn't make sense
My favorite costume is the one he has in "The Batman" cartoon from the 2000s. If we're talking just general color schemes though, I tend to like the Navy and Gray combo most. But yeah, this figure is pretty good. I dunno if it's my personal favorite, as I'm rather fond of the Black Hush Batman that MAFEX did, but it's got alot of great stuff going for it. I just wish he had a grapple gun, given he comes with trigger finger hands.
for question of the day, i actually like the horned cape ever since i saw flashpoint batman has it, so i thought that could work for this one! sucks that it sits a bit too high there.
My favorite version of batman is, well, exactly this one. Maybe with the grey slightly darker. I would use the cowl without the cape with a custom cape i make myself, that's the only way i see myself using the no cape cowl.
I guess you can attribute the slender build to the fact that Dick Greyson was the one dawning the cape and cowl while Bruce was still trying to get back on his feet. But as a Bruce Wayne Batman, I can see the argument. Either way, another good review Anthony.
Does the pointy cowl exist in the comic? I didn't remember seeing it, but it definitely looks like Thomas Wayne version of Batman from Flashpoint Paradox, which is not really the worst thing for me.
It's pretty much the same pros and cons with the hush for me. The head is a bit too big for the body which is more on the slender side, which for me, kind of ruins the overall proportion of the figure. I hope one day we will get a more correct buffness? bulkiness? In Batman figure, especially from Mafex
I like this color scheme for Batman, makes me think of the Super Friends cartoon. I didn't buy this one tho, I'm pretty happy with the blue/gray Hush one Wonder if you'll be reviewing Bane, too. I'm curious about that one.
Batman 89 because of the symbol on his chest. Nothing has ever topped that design. I am such a 90s kid that the points you made about the size of the body I see as a plus. This is what 10 year old me was looking for but instead I got the Legends of the Dark Knight line. Love the spikes. Again I'm a 90s kid. Cape could have been thinner if that makes sense to lay flatter. With the rebreather he really looks like hes sucking on a pacifier so no I too will not use this. And yep immediately got the Noid reference.
Another awesome review from Anthony, although one that I'd personally rate higher probably around 8.5, but hey this channel is still an authority when it comes to reviews. On a side note I wish hasbro would retool the 12 inch Ironman figure into Sentinels.
The diaphragm cut on this guy looks wayyy better than the Hush Batman's. The lower torso seems longer and wider maybe and just fits better with the top half. Those Mafex butterfly shoulder cuts are such an eyesore though!
Maybe unpopular opinion, but I don't see the value in some of these Mafex figures compared to the mcfarlane version. Obviously it's better and has way more accessories and such, but idk..it's at least comparable, but being 4x price seems a bit much for me personally. Just doesn't feel to be 4x better in any areas. The new mcfarlane bane/knightfall 2 pack was like 70$ and looks pretty solid.
The choice of accessories was weird. The pointy ears are only depicted on some of the covers. The swimming Batman was just one chapter in the whole Knightfall saga and I doubt anyone cared about that. Also, I can’t remember Batman having pointy shoulders at all during Knightfall. I would be disappointed but I’m pretty sure they will milk this mold to death and release a bunch of variants in the future.
damn it anthony, i was hoping for you to be more negative about this figure, instead I'm now down a hundred bucks and waiting eagerly for it to arrive, thanks a lot
QotD: Two answers cause I suck and have terrible opinions. I prefer black and grey solely on the aesthetics of a standard Batman costume… but, like most other instances. Flashpoint Batman is my favorite Batman costume.

QotD 3: Not Aquaman… Pointy Ear Ramble: Unless it is a Sam Kieth inspired look, Hard Pass on the pointy ears. Great, objective review as always.
This figure looks okay. I still very much prefer Hush Batman over this one. I like Keaton style batsuits with yellow oval, all black works better with yellow oval and yellow belt. I just can’t with this baby blue color, it doesn’t work for Batman, imo.
Awesome figure, but no one wanted he respirator/pacifier head. What a waste. I would have preferred either a maskless Bruce Wayne head or a screaming in Agony head from Bane breaking his back.
Oh, you poor mindless consumer. Critical thinking is your friend. Anyone who knows anything about articulation knows they're not a good idea. I've explained it a thousand times. But you're probably right because you know hOw To PoSe
Not gonna lie for it being over 100 bucks I'm disappointed. Yes you "pay for what you get" but in this case he's just ok. And that's not the price point to be just okay
All batman figures should have swapable mouth pieces. I mean, it's set up for it and would give more options with the same parts counts.
Plus cutting cost, you'd think it'd be in their best interest
It may be cumbersome at this scale, on top of that, they are mostly reusing their comic Batman headsculpts, like this one that looks just like hush batman but with long ears. They re also doing thar with TDKR figures, same sculpt but either black or blue paint.
That's exactly what I was thinking.
That way people could have swapped between the angry mouth with the short ears or the long ears with a normal mouth.
It's really interesting they didn't go that route since it looks like Bane will have a faceplate system instead of different headsculpts.
That's something I always thought would have been so easy and better too.
I can't unsee that respirator piece looking like a pacifier.
I thought it was a pacifier since I saw him, and I was like "wtf?"
That ain't Batman, that's GooGooGaaGaa Man 👶
It's when Batman fought the HULK . But ya a pacifier fasho
Not much, but consider this a happy father's day contribution towards your new camera! I get way too much out of watching your videos. Easily my favorite figure reviewer and this is the absolute least I can do to say "Thanks!"
Very much appreciated. Thanks. Didn't even know this was a thing on RUclips lol
I actually respect Anthony’s opinion so much he will point out everything that may be an issue to anyone
Just doing my job. Happy to help.
Really wish we got just about any head other than the respirator head
This Figure seems to be covering Bruce's Costume in "Knightfall". The Standard version is from the Beginning of the story. The Head with the Rebreather is from the part where He was fighting Joker and Scarecrow to save mayor Kroll and they were trapped in a tunnel that was flooding. The Horned Cape version is from "Knightsend" when Bruce came back to take the mantle of the bat from Jean Paul Valley
Ordered one right after I saw this video, figure looks amazing! This one, Bane, and Daredevil are my most anticipated
I was not feeling this Batman at first but he is really good. Bane I am liking a lot but from photos his head seems a little big, but maybe he is better in hand too 😅 excited for that release

I thought they were meant to look like the long Halloween cowl. Needs more muscle but not too bad imo
I'm very partial to the Batman Beyond Costume, I grew up with that series more than I did with any other aside from spiderman animated series
Love the Batman Beyond costume!
You should commission a custom figure of it! I did it for batman beyond as a mafex figure, and he looks sick.
You can use the respirator piece in a scenario where he’s fighting scarecrow or maybe joker when he uses his laughing gas
No "my package" joke this time, rip
Blue and grey remains my favorite look for Batman, there's just something about that look that is still very much awesome!!
Hush Batman is my favorite, but I’d take this version with a cape that is done like the Mafex Hush Batman (wires come out from the front of the cowl).
The horned cape and long ears should work particularly well in silhouette and shadow intensive photos.
🤣🤣🤣... I said "he looks like the Noid", literally 3 seconds before you said it! Sik
Lol
Thank you for the comparisons! My favorite part of any action figure review videos.
Your review just makes me want Jada to make a Noid figure in their food mascot line.
I too was not feeling it much when i saw the pictures, was a little let down. my ideal batman atm is a combo of kelley jones' exaggerated ears, proportions, shoulder spikes and jim lee's grey and black suit
My fave Batman suit is Hush Batman. I think the muted blue and gray look amazing, and the bat-symbol i like a lot, as far as comics go. Pattinson's suit is my favorite movie suit

Gray and black. Jim Lee clean design still the best. But that said - I own blue and gray as well. Love them both.

Michael Turner Black and Gray Batman will always be my favorite.

Do you think they’ll re release this in black instead of blue like they did for hush? I hope so 🤞
Probably
I’m not even gonna use the respirator for swimming poses I’m gonna use it when mafex scarecrow comes out for some toy photography
Question of the day: I've always prefered the grey and black suits with some exceptions (the animated series Batman). And definetly no cape spikes.
Black and blue is an underrated color combo
I'm a Neal Adams Bat Man kinda fan. Lee was a fun read, great to look at, but when I think of Bat Man, it's always Adams👍
Does the pointy cowl exist in the comic? I didn't remember seeing it, but it definitely looks like Thomas Wayne version of Batman from Flashpoint Paradox, which is not really the worst thing for me.
I was waiting for this because i was on the fence about it but "Best mafex batman" sold me.
It's pretty much the same pros and cons with the hush for me. The head is a bit too big for the body which is more on the slender side, which for me, kind of ruins the overall proportion of the figure. I hope one day we will get a more correct buffness? bulkiness? In Batman figure, especially from Mafex
Blue and grey with the oval bat and capsule belt, long ears. Honorable mention to when Batman is black, red, and grey
Guga, what is the best side dish for dry aging oneself ???
Got mine today. One cape should close in the front.
Real nice job on the review. Fantastic!
I like this color scheme for Batman, makes me think of the Super Friends cartoon.
I didn't buy this one tho, I'm pretty happy with the blue/gray Hush one
Wonder if you'll be reviewing Bane, too. I'm curious about that one.
the way mafex sculpts them all so skinny is bizarre. cant unsee on no cape ones like cap and dd incomin.

This is the definitive comic look (the flat shoulders and small ears), but I like the black and grey for animation and films
Recently ordered him, was hoping for ur review.
The blue and grey Batman is still my favorite even after all of the hype of the all black Keaton Batman back in the day.
You just made up my mind, I'm gonna get one . Great review like always👍👍👍👍👍
Enjoy
Hi Anthony. Will you make custom cape for this Batman? Not soft goods of course 😊
Not likely. Would cost too much
For me nothing beats NEW 52 suit
The diaphragm cut on this guy looks wayyy better than the Hush Batman's. The lower torso seems longer and wider maybe and just fits better with the top half. Those Mafex butterfly shoulder cuts are such an eyesore though!
Some are better than others. This one isn't one of the better ones for the butterfly
My favorite suit is the Hush black/gray one. That logo is amazing.
Uh, bath time accessories? YES PLEASE!
Good point
Maybe unpopular opinion, but I don't see the value in some of these Mafex figures compared to the mcfarlane version. Obviously it's better and has way more accessories and such, but idk..it's at least comparable, but being 4x price seems a bit much for me personally. Just doesn't feel to be 4x better in any areas. The new mcfarlane bane/knightfall 2 pack was like 70$ and looks pretty solid.
Yeah but Mcfarlane is mostly meh really, they do have some hits but rarely given how many figures they release a year.
For me the biggest thing is the scale, I prefer 1/12 scale and McFarlane doesn't do that.
It's not really 4x the price though
@@AerithxTifa how much is it? Looked like 100+ on bbts. mcfarlane is 22$ for most
this is my batman team blue cowl all the way.
Hush Batman is my favorite suit.
Gonna make a fish tank exclusively for this guy!😂
The choice of accessories was weird. The pointy ears are only depicted on some of the covers. The swimming Batman was just one chapter in the whole Knightfall saga and I doubt anyone cared about that.
Also, I can’t remember Batman having pointy shoulders at all during Knightfall.

damn it anthony, i was hoping for you to be more negative about this figure, instead I'm now down a hundred bucks and waiting eagerly for it to arrive, thanks a lot
I love this guy but I still prefer the hush but it’s just preference. Can’t go wrong
Grey and black or black on black
My favorite suit for Batman was Batman Arkham Knight
Grey and black for me
They should have put that classic black cowl shading on his face, would have made the figure much better.
Hey anthony you gonna be reviewing the figma Emmi?
Not likely
Is his diper really soft plastic or hard, mafex are kinda hit or miss with that
Slightly soft
QotD: Two answers cause I suck and have terrible opinions. I prefer black and grey solely on the aesthetics of a standard Batman costume… but, like most other instances. Flashpoint Batman is my favorite Batman costume.
QotD 2: Cape points are cool… but they did the same thing on their AzBat. The points are too thin, look bad, and are probably prone to break if it takes a shelf dive.
QotD 3: Not Aquaman…
Pointy Ear Ramble: Unless it is a Sam Kieth inspired look, Hard Pass on the pointy ears.
Great, objective review as always.
Dark Blue and Grey with the oval emblem all the way
Awesome Video Anthony and yea I don't like the pointy shoulders and that head with long ears just isn't quite it is it bro 😆
This figure looks okay. I still very much prefer Hush Batman over this one. I like Keaton style batsuits with yellow oval, all black works better with yellow oval and yellow belt. I just can’t with this baby blue color, it doesn’t work for Batman, imo.
A thicker neck would really help this figure, but really he’d look way better with more bulk all over- he’s way to lanky
00:45 😏😏
Who else has been watching this channel since they were like 10 😂😂😂
dab alittle matte modge podge on that shiny spot if you dont like it simply rinse it off
Awesome figure, but no one wanted he respirator/pacifier head. What a waste. I would have preferred either a maskless Bruce Wayne head or a screaming in Agony head from Bane breaking his back.
Black/Grey batsuit is my favorite. Blue just doesn't work for me. It looks goofy.
I guess i you could have Batman punching Aquaman in the face
Oh boy...
Woah
9/10?
“No sir, I don’t like it “
👍
The respirator is from BATMAN VS HULK. Which no one is mentioning. It allowed him to suck all the air out the room and kick hulk in the solor plexus
No one asked for "pacifier" head sculpt, should have been a short eared "screaming/yelling" head sculpt!
🦇🦇🦇🦇
Avoid the Noid
Why wouldn’t drop down hips not be ideal? Drop downs are only for people who know how to pose buddy
This figure was intended to be in the $50-$65 price point.
