I've already pitted the McFarlane Toys Knighfall and Hush Batman action figures against twice. Today, we're going to find out which Medicom is better: the MAFEX Hush or Knight Crusader!

The paint issues on Crusader are unacceptable given the price point of the figure. Over $100 USD and the paint apps should not be smudgy or splotchy and joints shouldn't have large gaps... Great review of a sub-par figure (Crusader). HUSH is still my #1.
read this comment before watching the video thinking "okay this guy is exaggerating a bit" but after seeing all those paint marks and smudges on the crusader....yikes you were not kidding lol
He's not over $100 USD though, that's just a markup from BBTS and other resellers. You can get him for $80 on import sites.
The figure is not $110 though. US based youtubers have a hard time separating the actual price of the figure from the huge markup that a loca store like BBTS charges. First of all, its not even $110 on bbts, because there's another $4 and another $10-12 for tax. So why even say $109 when the actual price is $125 , on BBTS specifically.
The figure is about 55 euros at this moment on AmiAmi. Thats the retail price for it. Thats the retail price where the BOM AND profit for the manufacturer is included. Its just 2 marvel legends. Its not actually a premium, expensive figure. Mafex are mid range figures. You have to look at it this way, because this is the real cost the manufacturer works withing. BBTS has to pay retail, plus expensive shipping to them for large amounts of items which cost more due to size and weight. They have to pay customs. Then they add their profit margin on top of that. You can't say a figure costs $110 when half that price is added by BBTS alone. The manufacturing process for the figure never benefited from that added cost, thats all BBTS's deal. The paint defects are still egregious and should absolutely not exist
@@dz6ru Agreed - I only ever buy Mafex on import sites and they cost around 3 Marvel Legends plus shipping which isn't too bad for what you get (especially with the accessories included for most of them) - certainly better than buying in the US at a markup

I’d like to see them make a black & gray version of Crusader just as they did with Hush, but the figure I most want from Mafex is a Tim Drake Robin, which would be perfect for either Knightfall or Hush lines.

I’d say Hush Batman is the winner. I do admit, though, that Knight Crusader has a much nicer cape, because it’s not so cumbersome to pose compared to Hush. Other than that, Hush Bats is a lot more accurate to the comics that it’s supposed to be based on. There are too many inaccuracies and missing accessories when it comes to that Knight Crusader figure.
you should return/exchange your knight crusader. i got mine from BBTS. have zero paint issues. got it 2 weeks ago and their customer service is pretty great if you do have issues.
Just an FYI - the first edition of Hush Batman by Mafex didn't include the "tree" holders for the hands. The later 2nd release did (and I believe there was a 3rd release earlier this year)

Something I don't think anyone has mentioned: the cape-less cowl could be used for adding your own cape. It's so profoundly rare to get that option without permanent modification. Instead of the GSPLot wired cape route, I'm thinkin' of finding some blue (spandex maybe) fabric to give them that cloaked cape look.
You know, I actually was going to mention that, AND show off a third party cape I have as an example. I do have another video for Knight Crusader in mind, so here's hoping I remember lol

Ahhh, that'd be awesome! Been looking at one of the GSPLot capes, but there's no hole to put the neck through. Not like that would be hard to accomplish, but I don't think you'd be able to get that cloaked look with it. Not to mention the blue won't quite match. So definitely on a hunt to find some blue material that will match.

Great review, a lot of people have compared these two figures but I especially wanted to hear what Jason has to say, also Jason dude, return that figure and ask for a replacement or a refund and buy it again, do it soon while it's still available, at that price you shouldn't keep the damaged one.
Both good figures but I would love to get my hands on the MAFEX HUSH figure

Awesome video. You seem to have gotten hosed on that KC Batman figure. Especially the fact that one of the extra hands is incorrect. If it was me I'd really be tempted to contact the seller for a replacement (or refund). I'm personally not really sure why everyone is so in love with Mafex. I've a had a few Mafex figures and I've never been overly impressed by them myself. IMO, they are no better than Marvel Legends or McFarlane, but they sure are way more expensive. I had a couple of the Mafex comic Spider-Man figures a while back and I thought it was going to be my be-all-end-all Spider-Man figure, but I eventually sold them off because I actually like the Marvel Legends RYV Spidey better.
There’s a plastic cap on the peg on the head swap I’ve tried swapping Bruce Wayne head from hush to the knight fall and it fit perfectly with no sticky tac you just have to try to pry it out of one of the head sculpt in knight fall
Great versus Jason! I can definitely see Hush beating Knight Crusader especially with all the accessories and Bruce Wayne head, but I still love Knight Crusader as hes a great version of Jim Aparo and Norm Breyfogle (2 of my fave Bat artists) in the classic Super Powers blue and gray
It absolutely is. I love a good classic blue and grey Batman, and for the most part it checks all my boxes. I particularly love that wired back rope. It made for a lot of fun picture options
good review, these Mafex figures are out of range for me but some days ago I saw the Beast Kingdom Batman the Merciless on sale( don't know how to get it here) but seeing it I had to admit the McFarlane Merciless had mor personality but similare accessoires would me nice, still hope for a red Merciless with Bruce Wayne head
6:53 It was probably a joke, but those are little baterangs. Same concept with DKR Bats. Although I could be wrong, and Hush Bats actually used those as clawing weapons. Never picked up those comics, 'cause I was out of the game circa 2000.
Yeah it was a joke, BUT while I was pretty sure they were tiny batarangs I wasn't 100% so I figured I'd play it safe lol
Jason i'm so sorry for all the QC issues that you've experienced, but that helps me making the point that mafex figures with all the import fees and shipping are not that good of a deal, they're beautifully done (obv that changes in base of the taste of who's judging) and provide lots of fun, but at the same time i think that mafex needs to improve on the materials, QC and maybe start to release a bit more widely than japan to make them less speculated on and also cheaper.

Wow, the paint issues on your Knight Crusader are shockingly bad. I'd try to get an exchange if I were you. I ordered mine from Plaza Japan and have had no paint issues whatsoever.
Did they not have the Knightfall license for some reason?
The black and grey hush Batman improves a lot of the issues with blue and grey. I managed to use a chip clip to keep the cape in the back and make it look manageable (and I took the wires out of the middle)
Plus black and grey is just…my Batman. He was black and grey in JL (maybe?) and the new Batman adventures, which I saw more of than the animated series
Also also the original hush figures didn’t come with hand trees. That came after they released their Batman. And I think those open fists are for holding the cape.
I really want Batman long Halloween figures from mafex. Tim sales art is sooooo cool.
Though with hush and knoghtfall, mafex are already hitting most of those characters. Guess I’ll have to track down the old dc direct one’s.

Yeah, to my eye Knight Crusader looks more like a toy and less like a premium collectible.
I was very happy with the Hush version and was going to pass on it, but after seeing photos of Knight Crusader that made me remember the times I saw Batman in the 90s comics I ended up getting it and am happy I did. Having said that, though, Hush is still my preferred Batman figure.
I also hope Mafex is working on a 90s/Matrix Supergirl to go with their Reign of Supermen line! They are doing so well with their other comic female figures that I think their Supergirl would be incredible.
Yeah, I really think Mafex could knock that Supergirl out of the park
8:21 The only non-BTAS Mad Hatter figure I know of is the DC Direct Long Halloween one. It totally doesn't look like the one you showed, but alas, it's our only option. Mafex will definitely give us a Knightfall Catwoman (maybe a Robin and Nightwing), but I'd be _super surprised_ if they did a Hatter.
Correct, Long Halloween is the only non-BTAS Hatter. With McFarlane having given us a Knightfall Nightwing, I wouldn't be surprised if MAFEX did too.

Nah. Unless I get an extra I don't like to customize figures since I use them for comparison shots in other videos. I feel like they need to be as factory fresh as they can be to help viewers
Man, that knight crusader one looked so cool, such a shame that you had a poorer quality one this time :(. I personally love my pointy, long eared batmen.
I do like a long-eared Batman, though maybe not quite as long as the alternate Kelley Jones head.
I like the Crusader figure better overall. Brighter blues and the oval are my ideal look along with longer ears.
I do love me a good, classic Blue and Grey Batman with a yellow oval

I keep Neca flip front boxes and anything over $50. Idk why but I cant part with them unless its something unknown, damaged or just basic
Same! NECA Ultimate boxes and MAFEX are the only ones I keep. With NECA, most of my collection is horror and I only display it seasonally, so keeping them in box is a nice way of saving everything safely. Especially given how fragile NECA stuff can be and also how small the parts sometimes are. And you know they look great on a bookcase together. NECA ultimate boxes are top shelf.
the price of mafex figures really makes me wanna go the custom route using the updated black panther as a base

HARD agree about the cape on Hush Batman being too big and ostentatious. If Mafex reissues the other one in black and grey, though, I'm in.

Knight crusader is my favorite, i have both but hush had the better cape! I have hush on a flight stand eith his cape all flared to the max and it looks wicked cool imo. I have 4-5 orders from hlj never gotten a beat up box. I'll try to find my hush box to see if it had a top trey( i think it did) and to see if be's head will fit. Btw I found my hush box, it has s trey on top and the reason you cant use the bw head is the inability to swap the necks out.
Hush. I have both. Doing a different type of video with both, and more. But yeah... Hush. I don't like they only made a grinning face for the regular cape, on Knightfall. Not a big fan of the shoulder spikes. Thanks for the video.
It's possible I'm misreading you, but you can put either head on either cape.
@@DesperadoDingo For Knightfall? I kind of assumed only the grinning face went with the fabric cape, because all the pics are like that. I haven't opened mine, yet.

As someone who’s left behind McFarlane and went straight into mafex for my dc stuff, I’m sorry about your Knightfall bats. The hush black ver Batman is easily my definitive Batman, tho I won’t lie the new additions such as the resculpted muscles on the Knightfall is great

Knightfall (I mean Knight Crusader) Bats is hands down the definitive comic book Batman look. So aesthetically, I prefer that one much more, but objectively, the Hush one is the superior release.

If they do a classic/iconic looking one, it'll be the first Wonder Woman figure I've ever owned. Even though I was collecting DC Direct/Mattel stuff from the beginning, none ever stuck out to me as a definitive version.
Mafex couldn't call it Knightfall Batman because they already used that name for their Azreal Batman figure from the Knightfall arc. Also, the "generic" logo is the the logo most commonly used for the Batman comics at the time of publication.
Crusader batman seems like a logical title. They couldn't just call it knightfall again, and crusade was a noun common on some of the knightfall titles

Oof .. I honestly don't like either one. Each figure has great qualities, but too many flaws to keep me from feeling any enthusiasm for either one.
If I could Frankenstein elements of the two figures together, I could design a figure I might truly love, but as it stands, it's a pass for me.
mafex is too rich for my blood. I just bought the 3 Joker's Batman and I painted the black parts blue and I gave him blue shorts and it's the nearly perfect Batman figure.

Think Mafex figures are overrated, especially for the price, the sculpt and articulation (apart from the torso) aren't as good as McFarlane. There is also a Mafex Hush Riddler coming.

It’s mainly the scale and proportions on mcfarlane figures for me, they’re all over the place and I don’t care for that. Mafex scales with the rest of my collection perfectly.
