The cape spikes are from the Knightfall covers that Kelley Jones did, same with the head sculpt with the longer ears so you get interior Knightfall Batman look and Kelley Jones cover Batman look.
Shoulda bought it via amiami. Paid $84 total for mine and that includes S&H. Not a fan of the spike cape either. Mine will be sporting the regular cape all the time.
Amazing review! I just wish he came with an unmasked head or an angry head with normal ears instead of the rebreather headsculpt…and the neck articulation could have been implemented. Still an amazing figure tho, can’t wait for it.
Norm Breyfogle drew Batman with a spiked cape for a majority of his runs on both Batman and Detective Comics, and for a majority of Batman related media he created at DC, and i know Todd McFarlane drew Batman like this quite a few times in the 80s. really love the option as a huge fan of the look, i feel like its underrepresented
Gotta wonder why a company wouldn’t make the peg & peg hole sizes all the same so that we could switch out head sculpts between different figures. Would be nice, anyway. Thanks for the great review, especially showing that the shorter-eared head can also work with the regular cape.
It looks overall, the only gripe I have would be the lack of shading on the mask/face - to me it's way too plain for a $100 figure. And I also would've loved a Bruce portrait, too.
I don’t think he always used a grapple gun. He just kinda thwipped it repeatedly like Spider-Man. In the nightfall audiobook there is a sound of ropes sport of whipping through the air when Robin and Batman are talking to escorted while swinging through the skyline.
I checked it this morning, seems like there's some shading in the caps. I didn't notice it under the harsh lights while reviewing. But under my office light, I can see the caps are a bit darker
I have a bunch. Like 90% are made by me. This one is reversible, it's a warehouse interior on the other side. I have a dungeon, forest, gravel road, church wall, rooftop, etc. I got an upcoming video on how to make some terrain for 1/12 scale. Stay tuned 👍
Great in depth review. Nobody does Batman better than Mafex.

That and Norm Breyfogle drew Batman with the spikes a lot at the time!
Great review - just got mine yesterday, can't wait to get him on the shelf posed up. Love your poses.

Lucky you. I paid almost $130
Being a new RUclipsr, I gotta pay that rush shipping to get the review out before the big dogs 🫠
I always thought the horns on the cape were to show the readers that Batman is Nightwing/Azrael, not Bruce Wayne.
Maybe that's what it is. I feel like I've only seen it in posters or comic covers
Amazing review!

That cape is badass. Awsome video

I really hope that mafex Makes a Batman beyond figure.
They should have done interchangeable mouths I want the long eared head but don’t want him looking like he’s struggling to shit
💀

Ya it's such a shame. Thanks for the support 🙏

This'll look good with my neca tmnt!, esp mirage colored bandana (the bootleg one). Similar color as in batman x tmnt.
Ohh I forgot to add tmnt to the comparison 🥲
The spikes were more prominent with Batman from JLA, not the classic blue/grey/Aparo/Neil Adams version (aka this Mafex version).
Ah thank you. I was having brain fog when trying to explain it
@@PlasticLyfe no problem. I'm thinking of buying this one. It's the best version of that era that I've seen so far.

The man looks good!
If they made a version of this same design except black, would be awesome!
pretty sure they will release a black version to milk it like mcfarlane did. Money is money
Between this and KaijuDaddy's video, it looks like the arms and butterfly caps are different colours than the chest. What's your in hand take?

@@PlasticLyfe Thanks, appreciate you checking.
What other dioramas do you have? Do you make them?

Surprisingly, BBTS has it in stock. Was hoping Toyarena in SoCal would have for pickup. Hush Black is my fav, great review!!! 2 capes , wow
Yeah! Just purchased mine!😄🤞
Kind of on the fence with this one, with how the cowl is engineered does the gap between it and the shoulders bother you?
As long as you push the shoulders up, it looks fine to me
Good video thank you
good stuff! like + sub earned 🤜
