why did they go backwards with this figure? i mean the heavy gloss, the no drop down legs, and the old man huge cheeks on the face and santa nose. its terrible for fans of this character.

I have the Cyborg Superman. It's great! I rarely buy high-end figures, because of the price, However I made an exception to it. I usually stick to Marvel Legends, DCUC, Marvel Select, NECA...you get the point. The Eradicator looks great as well. We lost the DC 6 inch line when McFarlane took over, and he doesn't really stick to the classic look of the characters. I just choose certain characters from his line. Mafex is great, but is a bit of a stretch for me, and not every figure is made the way I want them represented. Thor, for example is one of my favorite characters, but they made him too short.

Hmm. I was starting to feel some FOMO for missing this figure, but it seems they didn't really articulate it correctly or even as much as they could've. Bit unfortunate; as I would've loved to have been able to put Garchomp in a gliding pose or more dynamic action pose.

I really hope they make a dark Phoenix and fix the angry head because it looks a little bit weird to me lol. Also would appreciate them including some fire effects especially for that price point

I got two of these figures, one for playing around with and toy photography while the other is still in the box for display. I must admit that this figure is not very fun to pose. I tried doing some dynamic poses that I would picture Cloud actually doing, but getting him to hold those poses is a pain due to loose joints and poorly engineered articulation. When it comes to Square Enix action figures, they are always skimping out when it comes to weapons and accessories. I know from experience after getting a lot of the old Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, and Dragon Quest Play Arts figures from the mid-2000s. What made it even worse was the inclusion of NFT Certificates of Authenticity as accessories with the newer Bring Arts figures, driving the prices through the roof. If I actually wanted a Certificate of Authenticity, I would rather have it on paper since it is tangible. And they shouldn't count as accessories. Square Enix is just out of touch when it comes to the MSRP of their products. I am sorry for my little rant, but I have to let my concerns for this be heard.

Do you know if the Marvel Legends small Firebird accessory would also fit on the wrist of the MAFEX Phoenix figure?

This figure is not worth the price they ask for such mediocre work. Mafex need to up their game. The marvel legends one is better.

Great review! It seems so weird that they painted so much smudges on her feet but didn't get the bottoms accurately dirtier. Easy custom though. Shame it's such an expensive figure though. Thanks for the info

This figure is sadly so lame 😭 she doesn’t come with anything and that’s so wild! And I prefer the look of the faces and hair of this figure vs the new Marvel Legends but dang. Not worth the price with no effects.

Sad about the lack of effect parts for this one, but Phoenix is one of my favourite X-Men characters and this is easily the best looking one available imo

$140?! The ML is only $50 and imo looks better esthetically.

Faces aren´t too strong here, the best one is the flowing hair one, same mistake happen with ML new Phoenix, only one head is good.

I kind of like this one more than the upcoming Marvel Legends due to the boots and gloves being sculpted, but the lack of a phoenix effect does suck. I also kind of like the head sculpts here as they look Byrne/Cockrum accurate. However, at $140... ehhhhhhhhhhh..

Norm Breyfogle drew Batman with a spiked cape for a majority of his runs on both Batman and Detective Comics, and for a majority of Batman related media he created at DC, and i know Todd McFarlane drew Batman like this quite a few times in the 80s. really love the option as a huge fan of the look, i feel like its underrepresented

They do look amazing. Their are a few things i don't like that to me doesn't make it worth spending that amount on them. Better articulation for poses, like action poses, sitting down poses would have been great. A better head for Donatello would have been nice. An anger or stern face would have been better as he is a more serious character when it comes to his scientific work and trying to be a rule abiding citizen. But overall they do look really good.

The box says "Outfit 2" because the figure is based off of Guile from Street Fighter 6.

The cape spikes are from the Knightfall covers that Kelley Jones did, same with the head sculpt with the longer ears so you get interior Knightfall Batman look and Kelley Jones cover Batman look.

It looks overall, the only gripe I have would be the lack of shading on the mask/face - to me it's way too plain for a $100 figure. And I also would've loved a Bruce portrait, too.

I don’t think he always used a grapple gun. He just kinda thwipped it repeatedly like Spider-Man. In the nightfall audiobook there is a sound of ropes sport of whipping through the air when Robin and Batman are talking to escorted while swinging through the skyline.

The spikes were more prominent with Batman from JLA, not the classic blue/grey/Aparo/Neil Adams version (aka this Mafex version).

Gotta wonder why a company wouldn’t make the peg & peg hole sizes all the same so that we could switch out head sculpts between different figures. Would be nice, anyway. Thanks for the great review, especially showing that the shorter-eared head can also work with the regular cape.

Kind of on the fence with this one, with how the cowl is engineered does the gap between it and the shoulders bother you?

I always thought the horns on the cape were to show the readers that Batman is Nightwing/Azrael, not Bruce Wayne.

This'll look good with my neca tmnt!, esp mirage colored bandana (the bootleg one). Similar color as in batman x tmnt.
