Not a coincidence this tune contains the lyrics "helter skelter". Brilliant live, and loud as fuck. What a band. They were supported at this gig by a band called Travis, and Noel joined them on stage for ',All I Wanna Do Is Rock'. That's on RUclips and well worth your time. Loving your work, has been a fun wormhole to fall into! Cheers.
Johnny Depp actually plays just slide guitar on this track, also Oasis guitarist Noel gallagher was and still is friends with an English model called Kate Moss, who at this time was in a relationship with Johnny Depp, between years 1994 and 1998. as this song was from the album Be Here Now, which was recorded between 1996-1997. 😉👍
@@neilj6322it's a known fact, johnny Depp was dating kate moss and theyvwent on holiday with noel & his wife where noel wrote all the demo's for be here now.
Their regular keyboard player, although not part of the band, was Mike Rowe, currently with Noel's band as well. The show decoration is based on their Be Here Now album they were touring at the time and it had a lot of elements of the album cover where they placed a Rolls Royce in a swimming pool. For instance, the drum kit front base is a prop of a Rolls Royce car. Johnny Depp plays slide guitar on the studio version of this song. I think Noel's guitar playing was at his best during this tour, with a lot of solo parts and extended versions, like the Champagne Supernova at the Budokan Arena. Then when Bonehead left and Gem Archer arrived, Noel delegated a lot of guitar lead parts to Gem.
On Be Here Now tour (97/98), they had two keyboard players: Mike Rowe (main keyboard) and Paul Stacey (complimentary arrangements). Both still working with Noel in different roles. Mike as the current keyboard player in High Flying Birds and Paul as a recording producer/engineer. Paul Stacey is a key figure on late Oasis era (Standing on the Shoulder of Giants, Heathen Chemistry, TBTT) and Noel solo stuff.
They don't have a nailed on piano player but jay Darlington was on this tour. The reason they have objects on the stage is to mimic there 97 album cover although noel pointed out there was no phone box on the album cover.
A little backdrop to this gig. They'd played almost a full gig at this point. Then left the stage & came back out to do Fade In/Out as their first encore. They done a number of other encores after this, of memory serves. Oasis had so much fkng stamina back in those days - unmatched anywhere in the world for 'balls out' rock n roll. Oh, and Johnny Depp played the slide guitar on this track on the Be Here Now album because Noel didn't know how to do slide at the time. He soon picked it up though, hence this! As for the drummer, Alan White, yes, he used a double-bass drum for this gig. He only used it for this tour. He didn't like to because he thought the rest of the band would mock him for being a "muso" (a serious musician). Basically because the rest if the band knew they were so good that they didn't take their success seriously. 😆 They were arrogant, but by God, they had every right to be.
Lemmy from Motörhead used to sing with the mic and his head tilted up like that. In an interview I watched ages ago, he said that he started doing that because, when they started out, playing in rough dives, things would get a little bit raucous haha and the 'clientele' would throw bottles etc at them so he found that by singing that way he could get through the gig. However, with Liam, I'm guessing he's doing his peacock posing toughman aesthetic 😄
Noel later said the Be Here Now album was too guitar heavy etc...but I don't see anything wrong with that. 1997 was basically the high point of noel's guitar playing, especially as far as solos are concerned. It's a shame that he later gave it up more and more
Thanks so much for this latest reaction Yank geezer. I always feel like my loyal love of Oasis over the past three decades is completely meaningless until I hear your top nation adjudication. It's so affirming, you know?
It’s funny what your mind picks up on when listening to these songs. I couldn’t help but think that there were some chords in Liam’s solo that reminded me of Do You Feel Like We Do from Peter Frampton. This was a very good, heavy tune. Very well done by Oasis. Thanks Shecky & Dave. ✌️
When Samechick said "I've never seen anyone else do that" referring to Liam's singing angle, the only other singer who did it similarly was Lemmy from Motorhead.
Don’t know why so many Oasis fans love this song. Give you credit for reacting to such a deep cut. They only played it on this tour and never brought it back.
in the early years, they didn't really use keyboards, this is a great concert, more from this concert please, it's peak noel on guitar, while he was still trying to be like john squire, its not peak liam but he is still very good
@@lalazar27 peak liam is 95 -96 for me, its still pretty much peak liam but the habbit of moving away from the mic at the end of words and not being able to hold a note as long started to creep in, by 2000 was deffo the end of peak liam 🙂 i could concede its still peak liam but ...
Liams stage mannerism and a lot of the Oasis were copied from Ian the stone roses and their front man Ian Brown they were another massive Manchester band who inspired a lot of the Britpop movement
I don't think he plays two bass drums. He's actually not a brilliant drummer. I've seen much better (I play drums). I like Moonie, Phil from AC/DC for his consistency and tight beat always behind the band holding it together. Also Ginger Baker. Not a huge fan of Bonzo. Yes he was great but just nott my style. I don't really have a style so I don't know what I am on about. Liam is always brilliant love and even now he is holding it together even though he's 50 or older. Noel has started doing synth based stuff which I find boring. But Liam is far more popular than Noel, selling out Kenworth which Oasis did in the 90s. There you go. Information galore. I love your show and you are funny and intelligent. Dig it maaaann! 😅🥳
Liams vocals at this point in time were untouchable 🍻
My man was witnessing greatness right now and you could see it in his face
100%
Greatness. Biblical. Godlike. Fuck YES, Dave knows. (Shecky too!) 😎🫶
FINALLY someone reacted to this!!! Thank you, Oasis has been my favorite band for nearly 30 years. Love the reactions. Keep em coming.
Champagne Supernova from Budokan is a must listen for the extended solo at the end.
One of The Best Live Tuuuuunes Ever for Me 💯🔥

Thanks for this reaction, such an underrated song.
It's the be here now album set.
The album version is VERY interesting too! Worth a listen!
Indeed! The album version is has a very Crosby Stills Nash and Young vibe to it. Especially in the beginning.

Such a shame they never released this version of Fade In/Fade Out for the reissues of Be Here Now.
Liam with his tambourine in his mouth was like a playful pit bull with favourite toy, just don't try to take it away 😂✌❤🐦.
Remember buying this album the day it came out on my way on holiday. I was 17 at the time 😮 time flies man
The song Be Here Now, D'You Know What I Mean? from Earl's Court 1997 and It's Getting Better Man from Air Studios 1997 sessions.

Mamaaaaaaaaaa😂
Always got to stay to last second to get the best comments from Dave! Love y’all! 😎
There is a keyboard player on this tour called Mike Rowe who is now a member of Noel’s High Flying Birds
That song is rocking
The studio version is the best with that walll of guitar sound they went for and that pause before the frenzied scream whereupon the song went wild.

Lemmy from Motorhead sang with the mic like that....This was great!!! eddiebirdie beat me to the Lemmy comment....you two are great🤗💕

Liam stands with his head upwards against the microphone coz that’s how he gets his notes out while singing
When Samechick said "I've never seen anyone else do that" referring to Liam's singing angle, the only other singer who did it similarly was Lemmy from Motorhead.
Lemmy from MOTORHEAD had his mic in a similar position, "MOTORHEAD heaven didn't want them and the Devil was just too damed scared"✌❤🐦.

Try Stone Roses at Parr Hall .
This was also their heavy coke stage were they just kept throwing more guitar in there and making every song way too long. Good times. 😆
peak oasis
Liam was untouchable in the 90's as were the band .

You need to watch the whole concert. It's a chef's kiss.
You guys should react to Noel’s interviews lol greetings from Mexico
There's a new noel interview from gibson that just came out in the past few days. I thought it was great!
Where the Piano players are on stage was a working bar :) just can't hear him in the sound mix there is 2 piano players on stage
GMEX is great stuff!!!
That's an old phone box on stage. Dr Who? is a Police Box.
highly recommend one of liam's new tunes:

Lemmy of motorhead us to sing like that

What?! 😂 Not true. Ian Brown had a mic in hand and danced around on stage. Closer to Mick Jagger.
This whole performance is utter filth
